Key word here is "I believe" this is called faith, that yes men physically wrote the bible however God spoke to Moses who wrote the first five books within the bible. Later Jesus also told his apostles they would be giving instruction through the Holy Spirit on what to write, this being the new testament. The topic is an enormous one but I will add that I believe God is not pleased with homosexuality.

So how can they say the Bible is false? And just because it is written by men does not make it inaccurate. Dr. Brown does an outstanding,unassailable job of explicating and expounding the underlying judeo/christian ethical understanding of sexuality in God's view. Why is being gay even an issue in the black community. There is so many other issues black people need to work on. The persons Paul condemns are not homosexual: what he derogates are homosexual acts committed by heterosexual persons....It is not clear that Paul distinguished in his thoughts or writings between gay persons and heterosexuals who simply engaged in periodic homosexual behavior. It is in fact unlikely that many Jews of his day recognized such a distinction, but it is quite apparent that Paul did not discuss gay persons but only homosexual acts committed by heterosexual persons.

The King James monarchial, patriarchal translation of nearly 400 years ago (1611) -- addressed to men, and not much concerned with women except as property and in keeping them in their rightful place -- rendered these "effeminate" and "abusers of themselves with mankind."

In Paul's usage, it may be suggestive of some kind of effeminacy or weakness, but it is not a word which other speakers and writers of Greek used to refer to homosexual behavior or practitioners. "Malakos," indeed, is used in several other places in the New Testament in ways that have nothing to do with sex (e.g. Matt. 11:8). The word's usage overall is uncommon.

There were plenty of other words in ancient Greek language "erastes," "eromenos," "paedika," "paederastes" -- which Paul would have had at his command. If Paul intended unequivocally to condemn all manner of sex between males, it is extremely puzzling that he didn't use words which his Greek-speaking audience would find familiar and unambiguous.

There are numerous instances in his letters in which Paul uses idiosyncratic Greek words, perhaps because he was struggling to convey monotheistic concepts as well as the "new" message of Jesus to Gentile Christians who were unfamiliar with them. They were not unfamiliar with temple prostitution, either with the opposite or same sex.

God created all humans equally, no 1 person is better or worse than the other. I'm sick of christians saying gays are going to hell, they ain't God and they don't know his plans. The old testament was fulfilled when Christ was born, so for the last 2011 years we go by the New testament. You can't use the old testament which is written for the people of that time frame in todays world, we use it as reference so we don't make the mistakes those people did.

The Rev. Dr. Kathl Martin of the Victory Church says God welcomes all of us, God loves all of us, people are created in the image of God. True! However she goes on to say she believes we are all welcome into Gods house, this is where it gets sticky. Lets cut to the chase here people and acknowledge that what she's really saying is that same sex is not a sin and should be accepted as normal behavior and that God doesn't mind. Not the God of the bible unless you rewrite holy scripture.

Freedom is a wonderful thing. The ability to make choices whether right or wrong, there are consequences. Those choices are personal. Just as personal as the day I stand before the Lord to account for all my sins. No, I'm not fooling myself, I know that man tampers with everything.

@stevenmiles Exactly -- the bible was written by men. So you must acknowledge that just because your bible contains a couple sentences condemning homosexuality that doesn't mean homosexuality is wrong or that God doesn't like it.

@friendofthefunk Sounds like you're assuming I believe what you just said and I do not. Key word here is "I believe" this is called faith, that yes men physically wrote the bible however God spoke to Moses who wrote the first five books within the bible. Later Jesus also told his apostles they would be giving instruction through the Holy Spirit on what to write, this being the new testament. The topic is an enormous one but I will add that I believe God is not pleased with homosexuality.

@stevenmiles Actually, I was assuming you believed what YOU just said -- that man tampers with everything. Which means even if there were once a book inspired by God, that wouldn't make the bible you know an accurate representation of it. Furthermore, "believing" something doesn't make it true. If your evidence that God doesn't like homosexuality is that you "believe" it -- well that's not evidence at all is it? Other people "believe" you're wrong. So you'll have to do better than that.

@friendofthefunk I do believe in what I said that man tampers with everything, however I believe the scriptures I read within the King James Bible are accurate. You are right in not in not accepting facts based on what I believe in, after all I'm only a humble human who believes by faith alone. I can only tell you what I believe and where I've heard it. I only share my beliefs on an invite and a video posted on YouTube is an invite. People make there own choices of whether to accept the bible.

@friendofthefunk People who claim the Bible is false or full of mistakes have not even studied it in the Greek or Hebrew. Nor have they read it from Genesis to Revelation. So how can they say the Bible is false? And just because it is written by men does not make it inaccurate. It would be like saying the works of Shakespeare or the works of Isaac Newton are false and inaccurate.

@gneministries Um...Shakespeare wrote plays and poems, which no one claims are historically inerrant. Newton's scientific formulas have been consistently confirmed through testing and observation over hundreds of years now. You aren't very good at analogies.

@gneministries The difference with comparing the bible to Shakespeare is that Shakespeare did not write his plays as a guideline on how one should live their lives. It's historical fact that the bible has been altered many many times. Like the King James version (which most people read) was translated to favor the Anglican Church. I have read AND studied multiple translations of the bible. Look up unicorns in the bible and you;ll see how much has been changed by man.

@gneministries Heck, a few months ago, the Catholic and Protestant church wanted to change the bible to make it so that Mary wasn't a virgin anymore. Imagine people reading this version 2,000 years from now thinking that Mary was never a virgin. The same thing happened to the modern day bible.

Fine build your own church and call it what ever you want just not the church of God unless you mean other than the God in the bible which is under Christ law. Christ says "I do not come to bring peace but a sword. That sword is his word. There is a lesson for all in Romans Chapters 1-2-3 about god being in the hearts of all people and how we have turned from him and into sin. In there he mentions sins of the flesh and our unnatural sexual relations. It's tough love coming from God.

The original Greek translation of 1 Corinthians 6:9 (the only prominent verse of the New Testament that preaches against homosexuality) does not use the word "homosexual," it uses the word "male prostitute."
The Biblical scholar Robin Scroggs wrote a book on it! He noticed that there was infact NO Greek equivalent for "homosexual" at the time, so it couldn't have been against it!
Some modern translations of the Bible now use the correct phrase "male prostitute" in 1 Cor 6:9.

homosexuality is not the way humans were made to interact. with all of gods creations why is it humans that does everything backwards??? sex between two men is disgusting, between two women is just as wrong. our society is going to go down eventually because of all the sinful practices that we incorporate into our everyday lifestyles. I believe each human being can behave as wickedly as they choose, just be ready to accept the consequences if the scriptures are in fact right!

To understand the matter fully, one must look carefully at the scripture. 1 Corinthians 6:9, the only direct condemnation of homosexuality in the New Testament, in the original Greek, does not use the word "homosexual." It uses the word "male prostitute." At the time there wasn't even a Greek word FOR a gay person.
There is ZERO scriptual evidence for the condemnation of homosexuality.

I was simply pointing out other 'laws' that are stated in Leviticus, and how each of those laws are all held in the same stead, and how the laws in Leviticus are out-dated in today's society. For example do you sacrifice an animal every time you commit a sin?

@thecovenantkeeper actually you'll find that they have a lot to do with Lev 18:22, because for one Leviticus calls anything that was seen as religiously unclean or to do with idol worship an abomination. Secondly I was pointing out other 'laws' stated in Leviticus which are also held in the same stead, and how in today's society these 'laws' are both irrelevant and outdated.

@thecovenantkeeper The law IS outdated and was written for Jews due to the low population. The law commands Jewish men to sleep with woman so their seed would not go to waste. They didn't know what homosexuality was in biblical times; it's why there is no mention of lesbianism in the bible. And also realize the bible was written by MANY MANY people over the years, and the words have been altered to pander to individuals beliefs as opposed to "the word of God."

@thecovenantkeeper if that law is applicable today then so are the others that I've pointed out, as you see all of the laws in Leviticus are held in the same stead as each other. If you believe in what the bible says (and by the looks of it you do) then you can't say that one law is above any other.
