As a greyhound mom I can attest to the fact that their is NOTHING like a greyhound. They're so special and you have to be owned by one to understand why.
I use to work at a Greyhound race track, and the color of Miss Daisy was my favorite color to see on Greyhounds. Dave's color, brindle was the most common color I saw working there. I don't work at that place anymore. Got tired of seeing so many dogs coming in there with fresh wounds and being put down due to small minor, fixable, injures.
Greyt! I've got a six year old greyhound - he's a big lad but very friendly with humans and other dogs. My Dixie-dog looks a lot like the lovely Miss Daisy in this video.
If you're looking for a dog, please at least consider a greyhound. They're sweet and gentle and you won't regret it!

@EpicIngrid They are big dogs. But they are very careful about the home, and usually find a corner to settle into, and you wouldn't know they're there!
Typical WONDERFUL greyhound behavior. I have one 90 lb mush named Duke and had Missy, who went to the Bridge in 2009. I love greyhounds. They are all so special and for anyone reading this who has never had one......go rescue one - or 6 - little greyhound owner humor there - ASAP. You won't be sorry. They add so much to the joy in your life. No house? Don't need one. An apartment is huge to a dog who has spent it's life in a crate.
Greys are not Dogs....... they are so so so different. They say that Alsatians (German Shepherds and collies) are intelligent? Yes they are, but when you get a Greyhound, you become a junkie. They develop a bond with you and you with them. It took me fifty years to get addicted but I dont wanna go to rehab, no no no! LOL
I am a vet nurse and we did a ceasarian on a greyhound and delivered 4 healthy puppies... Afew days later the owners bought one puppy back ( half dead) I ended up looking after this little girl, brought her back to good health and falling in love with her and ended up hand rearing and adopting her, she is 3 weeks now and is asleep in my arms as I type :) it is so nice to see all the lovely comments about how much people love their greyhounds I am so honored to be able to raise and keep one, so
Always be aware tho, folks. Greyhounds are dangerously like pringles once you pop you cant stop. I have to agree with every greyhound vid ive seen on here. I am an ex racing kennel maid and still cant understand how anyone even trainers can mistreat greyhounds.
We are lucky in the uk that more and more trainers realise it cheaper to put dogs up for adoption rather than euthnase them.
We have an Iggy AND we are just gettin a NEW x-racer this sunday!!! SO ELATED!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE MY BAIES !!!!!!!!!!!!! Abe, our new full greyhound we're getting is brindle like your baby boy! I LOVE THIS BREED SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
Ah yes what hyper dogs they are, personally I have a whippet I adopted from our humane society and i love the lounge personality of these sight hounds. Unfortunately I never did get the chance to adopt a grey from our local race park prior to it closing due to living situation but I am quite a lover of these doogs and the people that give them homes when some of their previous "owners" would rather put them down, just dont know how they can live with themselves honestly.
My grey is frantic when he wants to be - about ten minutes of the day. And one decent walk will wear him out for the rest of the day. He's a real snoozer and will sleep in longer than me in the morning, if I let him! But watching him play and dash about, when active, is one of the most joyful things to watch. A sweet, gentle breed, in the main.
found one on the street a week ago today half starved, beaten and batterd, she is looking and feeling so much better already, we have seen her straying around the town the last couple of months, so when she staggered into our back yard (to see our terrier+gershephd) we made the mistake of feeding her........... so a few doses and a flea bath or two later shes a good new addition to the pack....
There are far too many greyhounds left homeless each year.
i have a part greyhhounds part treeing walker coon hound. nobody wanted a greyhound at the shelther i got him at becasue there have been TONS of grey hound attacks in this area ( although that dog did nothing at the shelter) and people think they are bad dogs and super hyper. sooo i got him and he is the BEST dog EVER!!!! i know hes not pure bred but he is still awesome! greyhounds and greyhound mixes are THE BEST!
Mine are extremely explosive when active but when resting... They can be dead to the world. I can grab my female by the scruff of the neck and shake her head and she will not wake up. When sleeping,, only loud noises can rile them up.
I noticed in most greyhound owners homes the couches are covered , in the vids. I do ponder where the owners actually sit. Particularly as the dogs sleep for most of the day. It is obviously a tough job to calm these dogs... They are so aggressive (not).Nice looking greys.
We just adopted a 2 1/2 year old retired racer. He is simply the best behaved and most gentleman like dog we have have ever owned! He is so affectionate and gentle. We love him! And he loves us! Just ask him! :)
The finest dogs around. My best mate - Treveor - passed away aged 12. He was a champion in our home. Regal, gentle, charming, fun, graceful, there are many adjectives to describe the finest dog in the land.
Basil my boy just passed away last month... at 12 too. i still am not coping with it well.. well he was my son :*( .... i almost feel like saying DONT ADOPT THEM EVER because you fall in love with them and it hurts when they go.. ...
They eat twice a day (not counting cookies). Morning is just 2 cups of dry food with water and watever meat or vegies I have left over from last nite's supper. Their supper is 2 - 3 cups of dry dog food with a little water and 1/2 can each of Pedigree "healthy joints" dog food. They are retired and the only real exercise they get is 2 daily 2 block long walks and weekend visits to a local dog park. They sleep 20 hours a day and rest up for the rest. I just love them.
@Ufndqua yah real spazzes!!!! thanks for showin people their true colors they are low maintinence dogs and a real joy!!!!! I have just one now but have adopted and fostered 5 in the past 4 years they are so worth adopting........... keep up your GOOD WORK ufndqua GOD BLESS U......
My greyhound is usually the last one out of bed in the mornings, and if you put the light on too early, so skulks off to find somewhere dark to continue sleeping. I have to wake her up to feed her.
Hehehe, calm down? They get any calmer, they'll be putting down roots in your furniture. It's like "I did enough running to last through a couple lifetimes, couch is mine."
30 mile an hour couch potatoes! Gotta worry about those 'affection stretches' sometimes they are 'loaded' My Lurcher Pharaoh turns and looks at his smelly bottom all shocked when he makes a stretch poot!
I cracked up when you turned the camera to show them both posing energetically at the two couches!
