  • cool clip thanks for sharing ..

  • gahd damn i love his second phase

  • 100m time for him anyone?

  • crazy hop-step.... almost 13m from just that

  • if he held his last phase he would have slaughtered the world record

  • BAAAAAAAD extension

  • amazing jump:D

  • Just saw this, thats's the point people look up to him and they shouldnt at least off of the track. I would not say he was a swindler if i did not have proof

  • wow, ur right about the personal trainer thing, i have just met him this week, im not too sure of the swindler part yet. i guess ill have to get to know him better! shoot me an email, i really dont want people to read stuff like this about him, he just might be someone that some people may look up to!

  • Just saw this, that's the point...a lot of people look up to him and they should'nt. His skills on the track are impressive, but he knows how to get over on people. you dont want to get to know him better.

  • @TheTrust101 why shouldent people. is he a bad person ????

because he is one of my favorite triple jumpers?

  • @Chukojc94

yes he is a bad person. Charlie preaches the bible (he graduated from a Baptist College) to make people believe that he is so good, but at the same time he is a liar who swindles people out of their money. He plays a very dangerous game. I know two people he has done this two and im sure there are others. his track skills are the only skills you can believe in.

  • @TheTrust101 Ohh i see !

thanks for telling me! im quite suprised, :/ i was quite inspired by this guy. by his actions im not now. how does he scam people out of there money ?

  • Just saw this, you dont want to get to know him better. a lot of people look up to him and that's the problem they shouldnt. He is impressive on the track, but i wouldnt say he was a swindler if i did not have proof

  • his jump is great, but charlie simpkins off the track is very dishonest. dont trust this man

  • @TheTrust101

y do u say that, do u know charlie personally?

  • Yes, I know him personally. He is now a personal trainer/swindler

  • please people: 1.this was the us nationals in eugene, never a 12m board. 2.this jump was windy +3.2. 3.footplacement is around three feet from the pit, that means the jump is shorter than 6m, quite normal for simpkins, who was known for bad jump phases. 4. he places his foot far from the c.o.m. which longers his step and shortens his jump.

  • still windated +3.2 or not, if he brought his leg undernth his body that would give him enough momentum for the next faze. yes you are right his techneque is poor but he still is able to take alot of momentum through is drummy techneque. he had the ability to break the WR no doult about that.

  • I didnt talk about (technical) quality. For sure he had the ability to go past 18m. there i am with willy banks, who talks about simpkins as the rarest jumping talent. simply facts, his jump phases have allways been relatively short, the opposit of his massive step-phases. one reason are his t-o-ankles, another is his far foot placement.

  • oh right. willie banks was an amazing, one of my favorites atually, but i think simpkins was alot more consistant in most of his jumps! oh i see i see, about far foot placement, he did get 17.60 with an injury tho and thanks i understand now ! :)

  • in some way you are right. looking at their best 9 jumps in any condition banks had a range of 60cm (18,20-17,60) over 4 years (85-88), where simpkins had only 25 (17,93-17,68) in 8 years (85-92). if i didnt look it up, i would doubt that.

  • yeah banks got a jump of 18.17 or somthing similar but with a 5.2 tailwind. then since he owned the world record 17.97 hes been pleased that he was jumping over 17.00. oh yeah true, banks has alot more skill, his last phase is very similar to kenny harrisons! if you look. hes now the vice president of athletics now!

  • Banks set 18.20m (+5.2) and 18.06 (+4.9) at the olympic trials `88. banks had overall 17 jumps of 17.50m+, 11 of them after his WR competition.

  • oh right, hm mike conley did that with a just windy 2.1+ so unlucky, do you do triple jump yourslef you seem to have alot of knowledge about it ! ?

  • just coaching right now.

  • @Stafanitus oh ok i c

  • Maybe his jump phase wasn't quite the best...however, his second phase (step phase) is incredibly beastly. I'm not sure if i have seen anybody else have a better second phase than his in this jump...on a side note, the second phase is definitely the most dificult, so the fact his was so long is incredibly impressive.

  • @bravebirdman I agree, his second phase seems to be so long IMO because he kicks out powerfully with his hip flexor, looks like he stays quite low to the ground, his right heel stays low during that phase. most people jump higher than he I think

  • He needs 14m board.

  • @Triplejump96 no... i think the board at this time was 12 metres

  • the WR holder did,nt have a hop and step this large if he sorted out his jump he could have broke sub 19 easy x

  • da beautiful but wierd techz of dose days is just so good.

  • not so sure about the landing, still good though.

  • damn...hes fast:P

  • he ended his step earlier than he wanted to and he didnt roll out of his hop, and if he was better at landing his jump, he would have defineltly broke 18.

  • I am with you there about his landing. Did/Do you triple jump?

  • yes i do triple jump,

similar to charlie most of my distance comes from my hop and step

  • Comment removed

  • The board is always 13m in international competitions. Willie Banks told Charlie to tell the officials to move the board back for him just once so he could really go for it

  • also if he wasnt so close to the pit. i bet he could of gone further. like if he went off a 50 board

  • wow amazing jump. could be the WR if:

    1. he brought his first phase cyclcing leg all the way through

    2. brought up his trail leg on the 2nd phase more. and the most obivous

    3. had a better landing. reacheddd more.

Still impressive tho. watch my video for could double hand form

  • the jump phase is more longer than 5,90m! I think that is a 12m board!

    hop: 6m

    step: 5,50m

    jump: 6,41m

  • sure its a 13m board. this would mean hop-step up to 12+m and a jump phase around 5.90m. this is not that unusual for simpkins jumps. if it was 12, h-s must have been 11m and a jump near to 7. he could not do that. just take the time for the phases and calculate the speed, then youll see. if you want to see phantastic hop-step phase (only talk about distance, not technical brilliance) you need to search for voloshin 90-93 or wellman. both had very bad jump-phases in 17,50+ triples, now its idowu

  • Charlie Simpkins is awesome! He is my coach!(no lie!)

  • wow dude. how bad is that lie, u tell ppl he's ur coach then say no lie. WOW

  • Chuck was my coach too when I was in high school. I trained with him in Knoxville. Couldn't have been a cooler guy and also a tremendous coach.

So no, eatsleeprun23 is no liar.

  • does anybody know if its a 12 or 13m board for sure? because if thats 13 that step is absolutley huge. well, if its 12 its still very big bit from 13 thats the longest hope and step ive ever seen.

  • yea, it would make alot more sense if it was the 12 board, but i can't be sure.

    btw, what compitition was this?

  • dmg la reception du dernier saut...

  • thats one of the longest steps i saw in a while but i think that was a 12./ some board and not 13 metres. but it was still a pretty good jump.

  • that was an awesome jump but he completely blew the landing. he could have had anywhere from another 6 inches to a foot on that

  • i agree.. im not an expert on triple jump but if he thre his legs forward a bit more he wudve added a lot of ditance

  • true but if you look closely his torso was leaning forward making it hard to throw your legs as far but he could have done it better

  • EDWARDS IS STILL THE BEST!

There are a lot of great triple jumpers out there, but there's a big difference between a great jumper and the "greatest" jumper. Edwards has by far the best momentum, arm motion, power-weight ratio, intensity and landing of all that I've seen. His phases are essentially in quintessential equilibrium. That is why he is my inspiration to hopefully win at the 2012 Olympics... Check out my youtube video "triple jump king" and give me an honest opinion...

  • a lot of people dont know but edwards squatted 505lbs and power cleaned 335lbs and also could bench 268. all for a guy that was 5-11, 154

  • Willie Banks once said that Simpkins had the most talent out of any TJ'er that he had seen. Banks said that he tried to persuade Simpkins to ask for the board to be moved back (to around 14m) so that he could hop + step fully

  • ....speechless

  • 3rd jump is not very long because his second jump was veeeery long fuck unbelievable!

  • look like he jumped way futher than edwards. mybe it is just the camera angle. why that guy is not the wr holder i want to know.

  • I think Edwards big jumps look much further :P Edwards had (in my opinion) the best tech for triple I've ever seen. Plus he had great runway speed! I mean he jumped (wind aided) over half a meter further than this! Not taking anything away from Charlie. Quite an amazing jump!

  • Christian Olsson has by far the best technique imo, Edwards' technique was nothing compared to his power.

  • Yeah power jumpers are great (I mean I'm one :P) but Edwards was so smooth! Like a stone over water...no one else can do that. Olsson is one of my favourites, but doesn't compare to Edwards. He kind of buckles on impact sometimes and causes him to lose momentum. I mean Edwards does the same sort of thing when he doesn't use his double arm drive. He ends up leaning to one side.

  • Crazy technics! 4rd result is the history

  • This guy is an amazing athlete and coach he helped me so much mith my triple jump

  • True with that jump phase it is amazing. the 1st and 2nd were great, he could have got 18m with a decent jump phase, that was almost a bail out.

  • 17.91 with that jump phase? ...that's awesome

  • unbelievable.... what a second step! trully madness

  • Amazing.
