If you like this tune and want to learn others like it, you should visit the "Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music" webpage put up by Library of Congress, which has thousands of pieces of public-domain American sheet music from the 19th century.

Do a "search by keyword", and type in "galop" (you don't need quotes).

I just checked and the site has 1714 pieces of sheet music under the subject "galop". (under "browse" - "subjects") Cool!

I'm pretty sure this is playable by one person, and if I can snag a copy of the Boosey & Hawkes - published sheet music, I'll try to learn it and post a version... or not. Anyway, this is not a rag, it is a galop, which is a form of instrumental music popular just prior (circa 1870s-1880s) to the advent of ragtime. You'd find galops played by all manner of popular instrumental combinations, including brass bands, solo pianos, small orchestras, and plucked-string ensembles (mandolins, guitar).

Exactly. It's not funny, it's just a sad shell of it's former self. It's just social commentary that lacks subtlety and preachy. The Simpsons should have been cancelled a long time ago, and South Park appears to be heading down that same road.

@histdorkbastilleday I'm surprised South Prk made it past one season. The show is unfunny, and contains potty humour. It's just disturbing and it's offensive. I could make a much funnier cartoon. When Family Guy got cancelled after season 3, it was good that it came back. But it should of ended with Stewie Griffin the untold story. Perfect ending. Or, they could of used the Steiw kills lois as a final episode. The Simpsons dosen't even make me smile, it's pretty much shit.

Season 1 of South Park was nothing but toilet humor, however, the show it did have some decent satire as seen with the episodes involving medical marijuana, the tobacco industry, feminism, and the episode that made fun of both the Simpsons and Family Guy, and a few others that escape my mind at the moment. In some cases I found myself liking South Park more than Family Guy because South Park did not discriminate in who they made fun of, but it's getting old now.
