When people say that the graphics aren't as good on this, i feel that they're being a bit too picky. I think it looks great, and especially when you compare it to how games looked on the ps2 / xbox era, it's come along way.
The story was the best thing about the original and you didn't touch on it here. You missed the point completely so I'd recommend reviewing things like Halo and COD for you like IGN does. Being extremely biased towards the PC doesn't help your case as well.
This was the best (and most honest) review I have seen on Bioshock 2. I hated the game because it lost its immersive experience. I would not give is 8.8 because of the expectations set by Bioshock. 5.5 for me.
PC version is the shittiest port i've ever seen. The texture streaming is broken in some sense (it takes about 10-20 seconds for textures to load fully, now REALLY?), and the intro cinematics lag even on my 3.0 ghz duo. It's insane. But hey, it's just 20 bucks, and after hunting for some work arounds, this game was quite fun to be honest. Tip to the devs, don't neglect us pc gamers, were just as important. :(

Strange what you mentioned about the unlock framerate feature; I recently started using it and have noticed no visual differences. Though it makes the gameplay so much more satisfying as the increase in framerate is significant (and consistent for me so far).
Great review anyway. I initially enjoyed BS2 more than BS1, but now I'm leaning the other way. Great games.
Well unlocking frame rates isn't suppose to have any effect on visual improvement. It just lets the user surpass the previous frame rate lock for a smoother gameplay.

I actually played this game very conservatively on hard mode with the vita chamber turned off. I meleed whenever I can to save ammo and money and it eventually caused me to constantly have to spend money to give me room in my wallet. I was actually always reaching $800 constantly with all my guns at full ammo thanks to the speargun.
This game is superb fun its often played during the holidays with my uncle he is totally awesome at it. I was lucky and downloaded it totally free for my sony ps3 from - 115 games. com there are literally thousands I couldnt beleive that they are all free also I must say 0:24 - 3:54 was first class
This game was very dissapointing. It just didn't feel the same. Very mediocre compared to the first. I really don't see how the gameplay mechanics were improved. The first game was perfect. Some of the explosions in B2 felt weak. Hacking was also dumbed down. Fucking hate it when they do that. Big Sisters were also pretty gay. Pretty stupid looking boss compared to Big Daddy's first appearance. The developers really butchered this title.
C'mon your complaining about the loading times, which only occurs about 5 or 6 times in the entire game to load entire new environments. Boy you're impatient. Nonetheless a decent review, and I'm hoping on my second Hard no vita chamber playthrough the game will become more challenging as you described because I didn't die once in Normal.

I do agree. There are more Game Programmers working on console games than on PC, then when a good game comes out it is ported to the PC which has far superior graphics and speed. So Nvidia and ATi can't progress their cards graphics potential because the games don't have the potential to produce better graphics and higher framerates.

@fWo: Well to put it simply it's a sham of the first. The mystery of the first game is completely gone, and playing as Big Daddy is stupid. I'm okay with the story in the first game and think it's fine to leave it at that. But it sold well so of course they had to make a follow-up.
Example: at the start, when ryan caught you in some chamber and accused of being KGB, I thought having the top guy in rapture swearing to kill you means you'd be hounded like crazy.
But after the narrow escape from this part into the Medical Pavillion section, it seems that Ryan has forgotten that he wants to kill you and you don't even hear from him for a while. Can't help but feel a tad disconnected to the storyline.
The shooting mechanics were average and you spend way too much time looting bodies and searching every odd draw and trash can you stumble upon.
More like first person looter.
Oh and I hate creeping through the game without an effective stealth mechanic.
Well, I'm not gonna yell at you for having your opinions, but I disagree. I was scared about pretty much everything you just stated before playing the game, but for me, it was just hella fun. The story was mediocre, but I just loved playing as a Big Daddy, upgrading weapons and plasmids, and the Little Sister aspect. Yea, it's repetitive, but I had a lot of fun being repetitive if you know what I mean. :)

Hardcore multiplayer games like MW2?!? HAHA! MW2's fuckin terrible. Even this multiplayer (which is fairly fun, but obviously has it's problems) easily beats MW2.
I really like what Bad Company has to offer as well. The graphics are amazing, the map sizes are huge, and the vehicles are awesome. Too bad the classes aren't fully customizable, and weapons can't have sights as attachments (except for default sniper scopes).

I've played though twice on the 360 version now.
My loading only took 30 - 45 seconds and didn't suffer texture loading problems.
I also unlocked the framerate second time around and found it better than when it was locked, rarely lagged.
Sad about the small text on when playing in SD.
Overall, I didn't really see much of an improvement against Bio1 :(

im probably wierd....but i found the sequel much more better than the first one. The storyline, the levels, the gameplay, everything overall was better...yes i didnt really love the first one somehow, of course it was a good game but nothing more and this one: awesome, just awesome.

Dude, but if you forget about the repetitiveness and the graphics (which aren't bad at all) there's a game that's a LOT of fun. After beating the game I found myself wanting to play the game again just to rape people with the fully upgraded shotgun and insect swarm.

okay anyone who has noticed that pc games are held back from there true potention by consoles has been true for so long its unreal pc's are far far far more superiar to consoles you cant really compare a high end pc of 2010 to a ps3 or 360

I do agree. There are more Game Programmers working on console games than on PC, then when a good game comes out it is ported to the PC which has far superior graphics and speed. So Nvidia and ATi can't progress their cards graphics potential because the games don't have the potential to produce better graphics and higher framerates.

@Generalvaldez the issue is that the game is put onto a blueray disc and could have been decompressed to the point of no load times but this was never done.

@fWo: Well to put it simply it's a sham of the first. The mystery of the first game is completely gone, and playing as Big Daddy is stupid. I'm okay with the story in the first game and think it's fine to leave it at that. But it sold well so of course they had to make a follow-up.
Example: at the start, when ryan caught you in some chamber and accused of being KGB, I thought having the top guy in rapture swearing to kill you means you'd be hounded like crazy.

But after the narrow escape from this part into the Medical Pavillion section, it seems that Ryan has forgotten that he wants to kill you and you don't even hear from him for a while. Can't help but feel a tad disconnected to the storyline.
The shooting mechanics were average and you spend way too much time looting bodies and searching every odd draw and trash can you stumble upon.
More like first person looter.
Oh and I hate creeping through the game without an effective stealth mechanic.

Well, I'm not gonna yell at you for having your opinions, but I disagree. I was scared about pretty much everything you just stated before playing the game, but for me, it was just hella fun. The story was mediocre, but I just loved playing as a Big Daddy, upgrading weapons and plasmids, and the Little Sister aspect. Yea, it's repetitive, but I had a lot of fun being repetitive if you know what I mean. :)

so im playing through a second time to get the "evil" ending and i feel soo bad killing the Little Sisters!!! lol and im sort of confused as to y he said theres a shortage of ammo in the game? is that only in Hard mode cause i nvr once had a problem getting ammo???

I really like what Bad Company has to offer as well. The graphics are amazing, the map sizes are huge, and the vehicles are awesome. Too bad the classes aren't fully customizable, and weapons can't have sights as attachments (except for default sniper scopes).
