  • First CD I ever bought!

  • Teddy Riley is a mad music genius

  • all the other cuts were great! but i really dug this one

  • What a tune !!! I had the album on tape and it got rinsed. Such great memories.

  • man...member clubbing to this joint at 17.....wow....

  • NY!!!

  • 90's was happy times.

  • I was in 7th grade when this shit came out.I remember bumpin this shit on the school trip to the statue of liberty

  • Wonderful song !!

  • 506 folks got good taste..4 folks are thrown off because there is no autotune or women being disrespected

  • @TwoThreeNineJohn LMAO hahahaha **hi 5**

  • the God old days, I just finished high school

  • I'ma play these songs for my birthday party!!!

  • I'm calling 3 people crazy!!!!!

  • love this song reminds me of the summer when i was fourteen .

  • I was in High-School when this came out. "New Jack City" was in theatres.. Those we the days!

  • My all time, #1 favorite group. Period. Their music and sound had a significant impact on my life.

  • If you don't know, Teddy had worked with a lot of folks back then, Al B Sure being one of them. This is Guy's song with Al B Sure vocals in the background. Teddy also produced some tracks for him as well with Kyle West.

  • @UMANCCOLEMAN Thats Tommy Gatlin

  • @UMANCCOLEMAN you are right

  • @revking2 Thanx, I was a big Teddy Riley fan back then. A lot of folks don't know T. Gatling left the group before the album was released due to Gene Griffin's manipulations. He remained on the cover due to copyrights. In a nutshell, those 2 let Griffin play them against each other. The bad thing is, they were childhood friends. As for this song, it was like a last minute fill in because it was originally for Al. B. Sure's debut album.

  • I saw these cats in concert back in 1989. Off the chain!!!

  • best song ever

  • is this Al B on lead on the low?

  • @azucarmorena5000 Yes it is!!!!

  • love GUY one of my fave guy groups

  • This is basically Tim Gatling separation from GUY song.

  • Comment removed

  • This is Tim Gattling singing. Not Al B Sure!!!

  • I still got the cassette. Before CD's. Call me crazy. Thanks for posting.

  • one of the few albums that was good from beginning to end...

  • 80's and 90's=Real Music <3

    Today=Unnecessary Noise.

  • @sk8t3rchic94 decades lost but never forgotten

  • @NIKIMBO U Got That Right (:

  • Is it me or can anybody else here the DISTINCT Al B Sure flavor in this song? And isn't he in backgrounds? lol

  • The best new jack swing, r&b hip hop album ever made.

  • this is classic music right here

  • No member of Guy sang lead vocals on this record. Al B Sure lent his voice to this song.

  • @manhattan973 I figured this much. I have always said this sounds like an Al B Sure type of song. If you listen to "Rescue Me", it has the same type of vibe this song has.

  • @manhattan973 sorry dude, but that's a negative. Tim Gatling, he was replaced by Damian Hall.

  • @manhattan973 Cool. Didn't know that. Love this song!

  • Hey Im Only 14 And iAlways Listen To This Kind Of Music Because Its Real Unlike Music Today That Makes No Since.

  • This Is Where U Can Jam Hard!!!

  • back when a brother spit REAL game

  • When music was fun :)

  • My FAVORITE song by Guy! REAL MUSIC!

  • This is from Al B Sure's first album. Teddy wrote it obviously but it is not Guy. (I still have the cassette tape)

  • @Alexisnevermind Al B. Sure's first album was "In Effect Mode" and this song is NOT one of them. This IS Guy's song from their self titled album which debuted in 1990. Check your 'cassette tape' again.

  • @Alexisnevermind I am calling you crazy!!!! Don't know how u thought this is Al B Sure.

  • @schterica11 lol I just posted a comment saying that this song screams AL B, but I knew it was Guy cuz I had the album. lol

  • go teddy riley

  • This Should've Been A Hit Forreal

  • GUY IS THE BADDD

  • oooh someone post some lyrics :)

  • This is Tim Gatling final song with Guy. He wanted to separate himself from the group's playboy image, with this signature monagomous song to the lady in his life.

  • ONLY TRU NEW JACK SWINGERZ ROLL THIS CUT

  • Oh my.....This was my favorite song by Guy. I would play this song at 5:45am in my car on my to Johnson and Wales University, Charleston,SC. Going 75 on I-26 getting onto East Bay Street.

  • @Ms77tiffany This was the best song on the CD robo cop time LOL

  • this song is legendary

  • @kerrybynoe word up i feel u on that!! ilike some of todays music but it dont hold a candle to the goodies/old school rnb,hip-hop music hands down no rap!

  • old skool is the best music

  • @robt8278

They don't make 'em like this anymore

  • it is

  • Sexy as hell!

  • Repeat Button Has Been Raped!!!

  • @TheArkchild

I know, right !! I feel so bad pressing it that way...but it's so delicious !!

  • Did Tim Gatling ever drop any albums?

  • 2 peeps crazy

  • @hiphoplivesthrume

    true talk

  • teddy riley produced al b sure so this is why it sounds similar to al b sure

  • MAN THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE TIMMY GATLING! HE SHOULD TOOK A SECOND THOUGHT BEFORE LEAVING GUY HE HAD A GOOD VOICE NOT AS GOOD AS AARON BUT HE COULD OF BEEN PART OF ONE OF THE BEST R AND B GROUPS TO EVER DO IT

  • This sounds a lot like a sped up take on Al B Sure's "If Im Not Your Lover". Wonder if Teddy had the foundation 'round the same time and maybe re-worked it some....

  • @maddvybe Al B. actually did the background vocals on this. I had read where he got his start doing background singing before Nite And Day.

  • This was a good album!!!

  • A fabulous song! wish damian, aaron, teddy and timothy will reunite one day and bring back the new jack swing!!

  • They way this music makes you feel is indescribable. It's uplifting, inspirational, you name it. It is great!

  • found out this is not even guy singin this song,it's really al b sure.teddy riley produced this song for al b sure, and guy needed a song to complete there album so they put this on there.

  • i remember havin my walkman in church! and listening to to this tape. this one guy I had the biggest crush on. guess what I am still in love with the same guy. love goin to church to see him. can reminisce on crushin on him back in the day. i think he knows. still wanna get wit dat !. lord forgive me.

  • @honiblk75 Lol had the walkman in church? chhhhhhhild stop!

  • this is real music , where are you 'Guy'(s) bring back this musicccccc i'm missing it so much!!!

  • Love the new jack swing era! Feel good music!!!!

  • STILL KNOCK!!!

  • My sh*t!! =)

  • I sincerely appreciate the replies to my question (I've since deleted it to stop the replies) and yes this is GUY however, the original vocalist for this song was Al B. Sure, the original member of Guy, Timmy Gatling (who Damien replaced) voiced over Al B. Sure and that's the voice that's heard. If you know GUY...you know this doesn't sound like Aaron, Teddy or Damien....that's the point I was making....Thanks!

  • favorite guy song even better than My fantasy .

  • @1Tyjvanna1 This is Guy, not Al B Sure from the first Guy Album.

  • @iotapi1914 This is the first GUY album. Too Dope for words!

  • already! you speak the truth!!

  • 2 people need to be beat down with a brick cell phone! *does the Roger Rabbit*

  • HANDS DOWN THE BEST ERA IN R&B BESIDES MOTOWN..

  • Man, this song has Al B. Sure written all over it (not saying that he wrote it or anything, but it does sound like music from his earllier albums)! Even so, loving this song. Feels like something that I would have heard on the radio in 88-91 (not really sure if I did, but...). Still, this is taking me on a trip down memory lane in a Caddy:)

  • No disrespect to Damien Hall, but when they perform live, you can tell a big difference in the vocals

  • Still 1 of my top 5 of all time

  • My friends make fun of me because i listen to music like this from the 80's and early 90". (best era in music). What they don't understand is that, this music, is music.

The stuff they make today cannot compare to this time period. this was when hip and r and b was for real.

  • @kerrybynoe

Me too. Ignore them. i feel sorry for them...

  • @kerrybynoe they can call us crazy

  • @kerrybynoe

    same here, couldnt say better

  • @kerrybynoe i wholeheartedly agree, i get the same b.s. from my ignorant peers tellin me shit like lil wayne and nicki minaj is "real music" sadly it is what it is, let's be glad we were somehow blessed with the maturity to know to difference between great, real music and today's garbage.

  • @kerrybynoe I feel you on that. I miss this kind of music.

  • @kerrybynoe I started DJing in 1988 and I played this stuff when it came out. I loved it so much I started a New Jack Swing night here in Dallas every Sunday. This music needs to be heard, remembered, and respected.

  • @kerrybynoe don' worry... you're not the only one! me too! i'm 21 i was born in 1990 but i'm totally in love with 80-90's music! they were original and best era overall !!

  • @kerrybynoe Same here my friends thought i was weird listening to producers Teddy Riley, Babyface, Jimmy Jam & Lewis L.A Reid Dallas Austin Gene Griffin DEF JAM UPTOWN and the list goes on ....F' Them. I LOVE MY NEW SCHOOL!! But old school lives on!!!

  • @kerrybynoe -what you have to understand is when you're fed bullshit 7 days a week, you believe it's good. We all know times change, people change ect., but there is NO way on this earth you can duplicate, replace,or lip synch any music from the 60's thru 90's in R&B, SOUL,HIP-HOP,FUNK or CLASSIC ROCK. The music executives have sold their souls for the dollar bill. If you're not half dressed or dressed like a thug singing about bitches, money, cars, bling, guns, houses,& strip clubs, you won't make it.

  • I think Tim layered his vocals with Al's voice. Listen to the lead, it sounds like to two people singing at the same verse, and one of the voices sounds slightly different, if you listen closely.

  • @JavonteTreble who AI?

  • @JavonteTreble oh Al as in Al B Sure. now I see what you mean. yeah it does sound like that.

  • Carmen, remember this? this was our song!

  • go head guy go head!!!!!!!!!

  • this is my song thanks

  • He best song on this album and Tim Gatling didn't stay in the group!!! The cut mang!

  • Comment removed

  • @faithboo124 the whole Tim Gatling thing. Is that why they never released a video for the song? This was one of my favorite songs off the album, but I don't even think this was released as a single.

  • @earrow uhhh i realy dont kno ill ask my dad and get bak tooo u ")

  • @earrow honestly i dont even no dang! i wil tell you , hey can u subscribe to me

  • @earrow My favorite too. 'Something about this song that just stuck with me. I think it's the haunting background vocals. Reminds me of old Al B Sure.

  • @earrow Yeah it was I had doubles of this 12inch It had an Acapella on side A & a NewJack Dub & Instrumental on the flip side...Uptown MCA Records I copped them from The Original Music Factory on Jamaica Ave. On 165 st. Got off the bus at the terminal and went record shopping after school..I miss that shit!

  • @earrow T.G. was just ...................... don't want to disrespect no one but just plain crazy. Let Aaron take us stardom. T.G. solo album was a fizzle!!!

  • Al B. Sure actually did the lead singing on this song.

  • @glonnief

Funny you should mention that, because when I first heard this back in the day, I originally thought this was another follow-up single from Al B. Sure. I was surprise to find out it was Guy.

  • The only Timmy Gatling sung on, for the whole album b4 he left the group!! banger 4real, and a nice song...

  • @djblade05 Timmy Gatling sang lead on "My Business" too I think it's track 5 or 6

  • I used to rewind this song so much my tape popped!!!!

  • dis is my sshhhiitttt!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man this is the cut..even after all these years..Big time memories!!!!!!!

  • Dis song rite here, still stands da test of time.I'd almost even say it was ahead of its time

  • D^amn I had forgotten how many hot tracks GUY had on their debut album! Flashback! I'm enjoying hearing this again!

  • dam near killed myself on the freeway listening to this texting a female! Real Talk!!!

  • I use to jam to this while stationed in Germany! Guy was the sh@t!

  • I have been looking for this jam thanks

  • ok i was wrong it does sounds al b sure

  • it was timmy back before aaron

  • you can call me crazy.

  • I tried to upload this video and I got that copywrite infringement crap. I love this song.

  • Teddy Riley got a lot of pussy in his day!!!

  • this is the jam

  • this here is a real jam

  • Timmy Gatling sounds like a mixture of Al B. Sure and Melvin Riley (Ready For The World) on this joint. This song ties "Groove Me" as my favorite song from their self-titled album.

  • @xXxsweetiebooxXx It's actually Al B Sure on lead. It's one of those demo versions that turned out to be too good to pass up.

  • @kc718201

I can actually believe that. What I can't believe is why Guy would have to lie about it though. Lol. Why couldn't they credit Al for his own joint? He didn't have to be a part of the group to have a song on the album. That's just my opinion.

  • @xXxsweetiebooxXx I don't think it was intentional. then again who knows. after all they left that other nigga on the cover who wasn't even part of the group he wasn't even on know songs.

  • @kc718201 LOL@ not even in the group or songs. At least did he play cowbell or something? You know being on the cover he got groupies bigtime.

  • @JEDI7ACEN He probably did lol I always thought there was something wrong. He wasn't in know videos they ain't even talk about him in interviews

  • @kc718201 I dont think it is Al b because this sounds like the same guy singing in my business and it sounds like Timmy from his solo stuff too.

  • @wiltisdabest It is actually Al B sure tho that is singing. I remember Teddy saying it on the radio back in 89...and also according to wikipedia lol

  • it will never be like this again...

  • This is the shit right here!

  • This album and New Edition's Heartbreak were my soundtracks in 88/'89'

  • bless! feel good MusIK

  • YES THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DISPUTED SONGS IN NEW JACK SWING HISTORY, BUT I'M GOING TO TELL YOU, I KNOW AL B SURE PERSONALLY AND YES HE DID WRITE THIS SONG FOR GUY, BUT IT WAS TIMOTHY GATLING THAT SUNG THE SONG AND AL B SURE WAS CREDITED FOR IT, THERE WAS A MINOR COURT PROCEEDING THAT CAN ABOUT FROM TTHIS INCIDENT LEARN UR HISTORY

  • All I know is that me and my friends used to bump this all night long while we were supposed to be sleeping. Of course it was on low (lol).

  • Best Hip Hop band ever! Best debut by a R&B band ever! Enuff said!

  • When I startied digging this song i thought the voice sounded like Al bB.Sure ! but no one ever mention his name with the song so i just assuem it was all guy and tinny gatling was singing it but after reviewing the commne and really listening to some timmygatling tracks i'm am so convinced now that the voice is definitely Al B's! Even Teddy riley confessed its actually Al' voice he explained the whole thing and why Al was never mentioned as the vocalist

    B's

  • Aaron Hall "Don't be afraid" is his solo cut check that out.

Ted Riley was absolutely on fire in the studio with songs

like "Let's Chill". If you listen good you can here the "Layering"

so many things going on to color and create a brand new sound

    "genious".

    ~Peace DJ Nacho

  • This one is for my Sister Alice and my Sister-In-Law, Tonya! Remember??

  • Damn no auto tune...

  • Aaron lead every song on this album except this song (led by Timmy Gatling), & "MY BUSINESS" (led by Teddy Riley). This song got air play on R&B stations.

  • @qmitch2 no my business is not Teddy hes on spend the night on lead.

  • @wiltisdabest YEAH you right !!!!
