(1) Yes, it is funny that adding a Pa to Sa Re Ga Ma turned magical to crappy
(2) He has got recognition. He is a regular playback singer for South Indian films. It took a while, but he gets work nowadays. Lets see what happens to the current generation of winners. They are quite crappy and half-baked compared to Vijay Prakash, but then software is doing more playback singing than playback singers themselves nowadays, so it is going to be interesting to see what happens.
Vijay Prakash is easily in the Top 5 Singers that I have ever seen on SareGama ALL TIME. I'm truly happy that he finally got a well deserved break in the moview - Yuvraj, and what a brilliant composition! May God Bless Him!
the reason for that is that in Bollywood, the voice quality required is more for 'metrosexual' looks. His voice would look very awkward for SRK or Aamir. He can sing only for Abishek Bachchan/Vivek Oberoi. Hence only a Shaan or KK can sing in Bollywood. No offence to anybody, but he can sing for Arwind Swamy or a Madhavan/Mohanlal/Mammooty and get away with it. In South India, his voice would be accepted, not in Bollywood. Hence Hariharan also couldnt make as much impact in Hindi.
Figuratively speaking, This guy brought tears to my eyes. I am into Urdu Ghazals and worry about whats gonna happen after Mehdi Hasan, Ghulam Ali and Abida Parveen but VP just restored my faith in the future of Urdu Ghazal singing. Saying that he is awesome is an understatement.

OMG!old SAREGAMA had such standard set..not to mention the panel of judges..sad to see the new SAREGAMAPA has gone to dogs now..with some egoistic judges ruining the futures of budding talents...
I hope he never has to go to Himmeshes.. thankfully he is with Rehman camp and sings in tamil/malyalam movies. this talent should be picked up by bollywood.
though i think he has a little limited range..however, he is the best in what he sings
VP rocks...I only wish we had an Ismail Darbar or even a Himesh Reshammiya judging this show to recognise this guys's awesome talent and give him a break in movies. Where is he now??
