i honestly think cam is one of the best lyricists ever. even after he got signed he made some pretty nice tracks and still makes an occasional good mixtape even though the industry doesnt recognize good music anymore. but this COC shit is way too underrated i think it's at the same level as Ready to Die, Illmatic, etc
Check it out on DatPiff, and coordinate the tracks you have with the listing on the website. Also, if you have WinAmp (the media player I use), you can always choose to Auto-Tag the MP3, and that should find be able to scan the internal information within the file to fill in the ID3 tags. Hope this helps.
FURREAL . . . he bugs out on all of these Children of the Corn tracks, bar for bar he was the best ever out of Harlem, slightly better than L. Alas, that was BACK IN DA GOOD OLE DAZEEEEEEEE!
This is around the time that dudes started adding extra verses to their rhyme schemes (4 instead of 2) it wasn't too bad, cause they didn't do it all the time. Once Jay Z blew up ( in 96), he would do it like 4,5,6,7 times. Of course, many times Jay would just spit straight bars (w/ few in rhymes) and just tack a multi on the end.
Yeah, I definitely noticed that nuance starting to develop . . . you notice how Big Punisher perfected that, building upon what Big Daddy Kane pioneered? Pun's bars actually rhymed even though he was bugging out with his bars . . .
To me, it was more like He was building up on G rap's style (although, Kane and G rap were both influenced by each other). Kane did do that too though. I agree with you though, that they actually rhymed bars back then. They weren't just trying to throw out easy rhymes.
