Why Don't They Just Send The Acela All Over The Whole Country and Make Acela Sleepers So It Can Minimize The Amout Of Time To Get To Cleveland Or Chiago, And Make Tracks That Fit The Acela And Stuff... Just Wondering Why...
I wish Amtrak would be more aggressive with it's advertising but it will always be at the mercy of the host railroads whose dispatchers will always make sure the freight moves through.

I like riding from Newport News to Washington DC, but I wish Amtrak fares on the East coach was as low as on the west coast. I believe I pay more to ride on a train to Washington DC in coach, then I paid to to ride to ride in Bussiness class on the Pacific Surfliners From San Diego to Los Angeles.
@panamcunard The east coast trains on the NEC actually pay for themselves and make a profit. That's why it's a bit more expensive (a bit too much if you ask me. The Acela made a 129% profit last year) than the West Coast, where $100 million is spent statewide on all trains.
@Limskjordan What they really need is new, low-cost, low-maintanence equipent. Amtrak just broke another ridership and revanue (profits record on the Acela Express) and the system is filled to capacity. They beat America's 6th largest airline in numbers with nearly 29 million passengers. Amtrak is ordering the same old Amfleet pieces of junk that cost too much when there are far cheaper and more cost effective options out there. It's mismanagement on Amtrak's part.
I think both wish the model passenger train was newer style equipment. I think think one of Amtrak's biggest obsticles in the public mindset is that people think they're still running dated ex Pennsy and NYC cars from 1940, No offense JoJo, I love the Metroliners too.
I prefer the ex-Penn Central Budd Metroliners over the Acela. Those multiple unit electric passenger cars, are more interesting in rail service, than the Acela. I do, however have a certain amount of respect for the Acela. But, the ex-PC Metroliners, are better.

Me comentaron unos de FTVM que em Marzo debió haberse puesto en marcha el Teotihuacano, pero pues ya vez que en México solo se sueña, pero pues ojalá y si sea en Noviembre, pero me comentaban también que solo lo podrán usar la gente extranjera (turistas) que vendría siendo este tren como parte del paquete. Ojalá y pueda ser para todos. Saludos!
@yourpageitsasheed Amtrak nunca estuvo interesada en operar un suburbano, se hablo de correr un tren de Texas a Monterrey, no se si llego a correr la prueba siquiera pero el proyecto se abandonó (entre otras causas parece que EEUU en ese momento no quieran mas medios de transporte que segun el gobierno podia ingresar ilegales o droga a su pais).

I think the music was written for Amtrak by Siblings Music in New York. The actual composer was Jon Wygens, who lives in London.

Vi en mexlist que Amtrak mandó un tren de inspección a Monterrey, supuestamente querían hacer un servicio a ésa ciudad, pero parece que siempre no.
