i got the 2.93 with the Radion 4850 for gaming and animation, with 4gb of DDR3 it is a beast! much much faster than the dual 2.3 G5s in work

Hey dude, i'm not going to try overclocking mine to be honest, i checked out the hard drive temps when i first got it and they were hotter than the manufacturer recommended on there site, so i used a fan control app and raised the fans a bit, making a huge difference in temp but it is slightly louder.

how would you over clock under osx?

make sure you test out a 24" before you buy it too, i find mine too big and its hard to carry lol.

id recommend waiting for the next gen for graphics cards

hahha isnt it amazing how thin it is? that whole damn thing is the entire computer, not just a display. all other companies that manufacture pcs make displays this thick that arent even the computer, they have to have a big tower next to it. and they are made out of plastic, unlike the imac's aluminum.

just shows you how good the apple designers are.

You're comparing a OEM to a custom built, of course you can build a computer cheaper then a OEM. If you do comparisons like the macbook air to the dell adamo you'll see that the mac is not that bad of price. It sometimes hard to explain a mac to a pc user because the OS works differently. The editor even said that the duo ran some apps faster then a quad PC apps.

But everybody knows that, if you got a Core2duo running at 3.0ghz for example and a quad core running at 2.4ghz (NOT i7 of course) the core2duo will be faster for the great majority of everything (including games) for the exception of very few software apps that use 4 cores.

Not bad yeah, but problem with that pricing is the VERY weak GPU, I'm not sure you can play full HD video on it (though I suppose you can).

you can definitely play full HD on it. :/ It's actually not that weak at all. But the new 27 inchers are obviously better. You seem to know a little more about dual core vs quad core than I do, if I got the core i5 do you think for tasks like editing video and photoshop it would be better to get the 3.06 core 2 duo or the 2.66 core i5?
