  • So will it end most wars by proving god only existed in peoples imagination. or do we still have to put up with wife beaters and terrorism.

  • Wow... that's just awesome. The speeds they manage to reach are unbelievable.

Thanks for this video, it really explained it very well.

And that thing about using analog methods 'cause digital are too slow is amazing.

  • I hope that they can prove the existance of the Higgs Field and then Ultimately prove that God doesn't exist

  • uh do what?

Don't be so ignorant, we have no need to do such a thing. It is already compleatly obvious.

  • telling someone that they are wrong is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself

(you simply can't reason with the indoctrinated)

  • awesome video. can't wait to see what they discover.

  • Excellent video

    thanks steve

  • The Technology level at this point no one couldve even imagined 10 yrs ago! i just hope they dont make like a dark hole and Europe dissapears

  • excuse me??? this has been in the works for OVER 10 years! This sort of thing has been imagined since the erliest of colliders.

  • Incredible how it's all synchronized at that velocity. The digital delay of the equipment etc or what ever the correct term is. Simply staggering.

  • Actually much of it is handle via analog methods. Its all about reactance and the velocity at which electrons can move through an inductor. At these speeds, digital isn't fast enough.

  • What is that estimated velocity of the electrons?

    Thanks for your response.

  • interesting stuff

  • Thanks Stephen.

  • it takes like a moth for the process to complete

  • explained so well - excellent piece!

  • Exellent account of the LHC, I can appreciate the effort that has gone into steering a beam around a 27 km ring. For me it has been a chellenge to make a proton beam travel 20 cm.

  • cool

  • this is like Tron

  • how is the black hole created from this experiment then?

  • There really shouldn't be a black hole created, they're just smashing protons together to see what they're made of. The idea that maybe a tiny black hole would be created and then evaporate instantly or other stuff is just a 'this might happen/be neat' thing; not 'lol world gonna end'. I guess the micro black holes, if created (I highly doubt they would be), would be caused by interactions among whatever pieces result from the proton collisions doing what could best be described as 'weird stuff'

  • "proton collisions doing what could best be described as 'weird stuff'"

I believe the 'black hole' idea comes from String Theory and the extra dimensions it predicts.

  • is there any webcams broadcasting live from CERN?

  • > is there any webcams broadcasting live from CERN?

Yes, there is. Make sure to read the text:

    w w w[dot]cyriak . co. uk /lhc/lhc-webcams[dot] html

(You have to replace "[dot]" by "." and remove the spaces)

  • we're all going to die!!!! lol

  • nicely explained

  • Thank you for this simplified account of a fairly complicated experiment.

  • Amazing. Thanks.

  • briliant

  • stevebd ftw

  • simply beautiful!
