i have a 2001 model (old shape) and the handling is awesome, my dad has a '07 ninja and thinks my sv is a better ride, yeah not as aggressive fast or powerful but the power is thame and will not make the wheel come up unless you give it some, its is a nice learner bike which is why i have it, and not a slow bike if your coming off a 125 two stroke, but the power you will get used to if you just give time to get used to it!
