I remember this game. If you summoned your party at one of the intersection signs and had a party member bump into it continuously, a giant demon wolf's head would come out of the ground and kill everyone. Try it.
My brother and I rented this game for the SNES, and we got more enjoyment from joking about "giving" a character the "rod" than we did from the actual game.
Someone needs to hack the rom and place the SNES version's music into it. I want to play this version, but without the music, it seems rather....dead.
I quickly got bored of this game, but absolutely loved both the intro and the in-game music (visiting taverns, the gypsy, etc). Also loved the sunsets and the sky changing with the time of day and the starry night. Mind you, I played this back in 91 I think. I was sorely disappointed to find the SNES version did not have the same music. If I could have gotten the Amiga game in cart form, it would have been heaven.
I loved this game on the Amiga. It was one of my childhood favorites. It got such horrible reviews. I think it's because it was very counter-intuitive at first and so incredibly easy to die when you start, but as you pick up some momentum, there's really a wonderful game to be discovered set in a most imaginative, yet savage world.
I remember playing this on my amiga 500 waaaaay back in the day. Still sucks! Totally confusing game. Near instant death all the time. I know of no one who beat this.
I beat it. I think one of the castles was really hard to get into (like you had to approach from a certain angle or a certain time?). I never figured out exactly how to enter but was able to brute force my way in a number of times. Aside from that it seemed like a straightforward game... with really, really weird sound effects and weird random encounters outside with sky dragons and stuff.
@PSNSMANIACALMIND1st Well I mean I'd like this exact story maybe expanded a little to include the story from the manual. Expand it a bit, add in some graphics obviously, etc. It's never going to happen but this ends up being one of my favorite nostalgic game memories.
Update 2 : When you apply the gamecheats suggested in that site hol . abime . net (under "Drakkhen") i can add that i found an unmentioned additional trick : try also to mouse click on the game chat window : suddenly a menu will appear on the screen, allowing you to choose where to teleport (by this you can save a lot of time), and also what kind of monster you want to appear and attack, so you can skill your characters very quickly. Ok,now for me Drakkhen returns into my old memories... :-)
i guess i am the only one interested in this video ^^
well, dear damocles first of all thx for posting this... because this game reminds me a particular period of my life: nice and awful period at the same time... it s amazing how simple things like these video can recall so many past sensations, about a somehow past period of someone's life ...
now i hope you will post the end of the game for Amiga, because at that time i didnt end it =)
While I am afraid that I don't have time at the moment, I would like to complete the game at some point. If I do, I will post the ending from Amiga version.
If you are interested, YouTube already has the ending for SNES version.
Update : i finally saw the end sequence of the Amiga version. It's a sort of bad copy of t SNES version : the music resembles the game intro, but it s quite dark and not particularly impressive. Then a brief text comment when the 4 dragon appear and finally and image introducing Drakkhen 2. The whole sequence is very brief and quite disappointing. I have to admit that the SNEs ending is better. To end the game quickly i used the gamecheats suggested in the site hol . abime . net (see Drakkhen)
@PaulSpn and its amazing how some unforgettable moments in our lives are marked in little treasures like this... even if they were the happiest of times back then... turned into melancholic "sad" times many years after.... man im getting old
0:51 - 1:05 Haha, jeez, was that all loading? And I thought games nowadays were bad.

Cool, I had no clue this was an Amiga game as well (not surprised though)! Did DragonView come out on Amiga as well, or was that just SNES?

An incredible atmosphere, fantastic and unusual music / sounds. One of the best stories in RPG. The golden age of video RPG !

Indeed. Yet even such a small detail was edited in some releases.
