Yup, I think it was the engine. Happened to me in my 5s-fe Camry. I stepped on the gas and the gear shift into 2nd made the same sound. Under the hood I found a rod busted through the block... Goodbye Camry.
I'd say it's the engine because there was no engine\exhaust noise straight after the crunch, and i vote it's a 20 possibly supercharged (or turbo) he's really winding those gears out though, supercharged it'd get there a lot quicker (or turbo) and what the hell is "toe out"
yup definitely the engine. you can hear the bits of pistons rattling around from the engine. when he threw it into gear to slow it down after it died it just juggled them all about. this is an insane race though
what exactly happened to the engine? what are the engine specs? is that a 16 or 20? where can i find the details i need about this car? its weight, etc. alll the info i need that isnt listed here...and again what happened to the engine?
why would someone run his racecar with huge amounts of toe out ? its a race car ..sometimes full slicks need to properly warm up to get going...and ae92's dont have bad susp...

All are not remodeled these race categories excluding the computer and
the muffler.
In the form, 16V and the outputs are about 150 PS.
It is an one make-up basically race of no remodeling.

most likly a 16v. also it wouldnt be supercharged as its not that realiable for racing like that also the fact that you dont hear the charger it self

There is nothing wrong with the suspension.Higher speeds require more correction with FF cars.

More problems with the chassis. Not really designed for real sport use without modifications.

That's true. Although in this vid the guy is probably a huge amount of toe-out which makes the car less stable.

AE92 really do have bad rear suspension, see at the straight line at high speed the car doesnt wanna keep straight, its the same with my corolla.
