  • Nothing bothers me more than the angled back-cut. I'm sorry to bash on your "expertise" but that's the most dangerous "home-owner" way to cut down a tree. Flat cuts, even on the bottom of the notch, and using wedges is the best AND safest method to do it.

  • Why didn't he label the sky with an S?

  • your instructions SUCK

  • you are stupid

  • ".....your escape route". That's reassuring.

  • Poor..very Poor instructions

  • The guy is trying to do a open face notch which he totally foobared most people here are talking traditional notch there is also a humboldt notch which is just the reverse of traditional saves you a bit of wood but more of a chance of kickback.

To make a openface notch top cut is 70 degrees and bottom cut is 20 degrees then backcut should be at same level as the hinge as opposed to 2" for a traditional backcut

  • Mr. Obvious strikes again. What a waste of server space.

  • you really dont need to fell the tree....nothcing it PROPERLY is just fine. ends of the notch must meet.

  • He is a damn retard. Go to Sweden and learn how to fell threes idiot.

  • When making a notch you never do 1/2 of the tree. Always make your face cut 1/3 of the tree's diameter.

  • I'd like to see him describe a humbolt or open face notch too, with a T and a G of course! I think this guy just might be the village idiot.

  • If you want to see tree falling by someone who has a bit of knowledge about falling technique, watch my falling compilation video. This guy should put a G on his forehead for GUMP..

  • T is for 'tree', G is for 'ground'. This guy is on to something.

  • You have to be kidding me. Has this guy ever felled a tree? Slanting backcut? Just over the undercut? Is a stumpshot no longer considered safe? Buddy, if you can't at least get out there and use a saw in a tree, READ DENT, several times.

  • I am glad that he did the demo on a white board, instead of a real tree. That way he did not get hurt. If you are watching this to learn how to use a chainsaw, get some one that knows what they are doing to do the job. This video will not help any one except the emergency room doctor pay for his/her BMW.

  • If you don't know what you are talking about, DO NOT give advise.

  • Seriously, if you need to label the tree and label the ground in a picture then you're teaching words to preschoolers in a picture book. Preschoolers shouldn't operate chainsaws.

  • The series of videos from this guy and Expert Village (I've seen 3) are proof that a) this guy knows absolutely nothing about cutting trees, and b) Expert Village does nothing to control the quality of the advice they peddle.

Thanks to the real tree cutters who have posted to point out some basic principles of tree cutting.

  • There is a good chance that this man is laying dead under a tree he "cut down" somewhere. DO NOT make this big a felling notch probably 1/3 maximum depth Not 1/2. ..... Panel doesn't always mean your smart AND a snappy dresser

  • Leave this man alone. He is wearing "plannel" (a mixture of plaid and flannel). Everyone who wears plannel knows how to cut down a tree. If you were wearing plannel you would not be looking for directions on how to cut down a tree. You would already know.

  • Yeah, when you see the tree is falling, take two steps back and look up to see wich way. Maybe sit down and have a beer and calculate where it is falling too?

Takes a couple of hours for it to come down when it start to fall! Dumbass!

  • everyone should flag this video.

  • now um,gravity pulls toward the "G"??,,,now ,,,umm ,,should i mark that on the ground, when im cuttin on my tree?ummm should i like bring the instructions for my saw out to the trees area before i start cuttin on them?guess i need an expert!

  • I'm glad he labelled the tree and the ground - i'm always getting those mixed up ; /

  • dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass dumb ass

  • I've got a neighbors house I'd like to get rid of. Anyone know where to get ahold of this 'expert'?

  • death awaits those that listen to this fucktard

  • This fool has no idea what he is talking about. This is the worst demo video yet!

  • So the 'T' means the what again, and the 'G'? I'm confused?!

This man is making it up as he goes along.

  • wow!! youd get a lot done pissing about with a winch!!!! what a twit!!! and the back cut at an angle?? scary stuff:)

  • Most trees are balanced? HUMMMMM??? A comealong????Expert???

  • Yeah!!! Put some poor soul out there with a cumalong winching on that tree!!!! LOL!!!

  • Huh?? This guy has done bumped his head. "Look and see which way the tree is going, for your escape route?" He knows nothing of professional tree felling. Damn!! You should have to be required to have a license to buy a chainsaw before you kill someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • expert village my ass what a retard

  • Most trees are balanced?

  • This guy don't know jackshit

  • this guy once again is n idiot.your bottom cut on notch should be flat and the back cut should be level and from 1to 2iches above bottom cut n most trees r not straight and balanced this guy should remove all videos before somebody gets killed. if your in my area email me i will cut your trees down leave it to the professionals franklin nj

  • You don't know what you are talking about.

  • UGH Sloping backcut BAD, not Pro.

To keep the butt from coming back over the stump keep the LEVEL backcut about 2 inches above the hinge side of the face.

Hinge should be about 10 percent of the diameter thick and 60-80 percent of the diameter wide. The face should be open enough (wide angle) that the hinge does not snap off until the tree is very committed to going all the way over. There are many exceptions to the above, in general its hard to learn to fell WELL and SAFE from a Video!!

  • why do people think that cutting the back cut on an angle will prevent the tree from falling backward, I see this all the time, people say "I'll cut this baby on an angle and she'll fall the right way" keep thinking that

  • yea but now look at the butt of the log its usless
