I had the honor of serving with the 3rd BCT with Nick and remember the day this happened. It was my first tour as well and we learned so much about ourselves there. He was an outstanding infantryman and true hero. His legacy will always live on. RIP friend.
I just wanted to say how much of an impact Pfc Nick Madaras has had on me, and my family. He is the defintion of a hero threw many eyes including mine. There is no greater soldier and no greater son. I to have served in iraq, i remember delivering the first thing of soccer balls, to the children, this video cant even describe the look on the childrens faces, they where in tears when they got the balls, happy joyful tears. He will always be remembered.
Just finished watching the video on ESPN once again. Nice to see them run it one more time. God Bless you, sir. Ten-Hut....there's an officer on deck. Now let us pray....
Funny how nothing of this sort is broadcast on the major media sites.. they only report the negative and what they feel they need to broadcast to help their agenda.. this is a great story and i am going to contribute through baysl (brandon area youth soccer league) in the Brandon Florida Area.. lets not just comment on this but donate and really bring Nick's Wish to life.. God Bless Nick and all the soldiers that have given their life and are in harms way. let them not be forgotten.
Hey my dad and i are collecting balls in florida.(two comments above yours)You can contribute any way you want to. Right now, were collecting balls and cash donations. The cash donations will be used to buy balls.
This video is sad!): why are all the great people that go to Iraq the ones that die? They showed this at my school and when my class was watching it I could hear people sniffing...I'm not a person who cries a lot but if I was I would have been crying!
This is why the call Football the beautiful game...it actually stopped the war for a day in Iraq when Iraq won the Asian Cup...well done nick your legacy will go on and on...you truly are a great American!!!
the guy who put this together from the am. legion is my friend's dad. as a fellow vet, i am glad to see us banding together to help each other out and remember those who gave all.
I hate it when people in this country talk bad on soccer. Maybe this will show how soccer is much more than a sport in alot of peoples heart and across countries

It's hard to say that anything good can come of a 19 year old losing his life.
But if something good can come from that, this is it.

Did you intend to say "all of the great people that go to Iraq die." Meaning all of the ones who don't die are not great people? Hope not.
killzit 4 years ago
No what I was meaning is that a lot of great people go to iraq and never come back. but everyone who goes is great
