@glitchminion its there because if any crickets go into the water, they can climb up that and not drown, ok they die later when they get eaten but hey.
y do so many people use sand i did it and when my beardy was eating salad some of it hit the sand and the salad was moist so sand caked the greens and he got impacted
Hey, Love the setup and they seem very healthy. I was just wondering why you feed them spinach. I've heard a lot about the spinach being a calcium binding agent so It's not the best food for them to eat.
you SHOULD, theyre prone to calcium defeincy, u can get "cricket dust" in pet shops, pretty cheap as well, i have a 8 y/o dragonthats always had it, nothing wrong with him at all, and hes jumped out the tank a few times when ive opened the door ( 1.5m drop to wodden floor ) never broken a bone or anything.
One of the downsides to spinach is that it contains a calcium-binding chemical that prevents beardies from metabolizing ingested calcium. Feeding them a diet with a lot of spinach could lead to metabolic bone disease even though they seem to be taking in enough calcium.
@PinkPunkyKat usually they don't start with the salads until they get older.... but even when they are young make sure you keep it available so they will be use to seeing it.
Just wondering how many times and when you are feeding them because my beardie doesnt seem as lively when i feed her, shes the same if i give her some mealworms...? She doesnt seem very enthusiastic (excuse the spelling) about eating.
well i got a bearded dragon yesterday and hes not eating not drinking he just sits on his branch under the basking light what should i do to get him active and eating? anyone know?
you can publish windows movie maker vids onto youtube.. i always see ppl doing it and it never worked for me,, wat u need to do is wen u finish the movie u need to click publish movie and save it to ur comp.. then upload it
um you know you said it was hard to dust type in exo terra feeding rock put the krickets in with the calcium powder give it a bit of a shake put in vivarium pull out cork the krickets climb out dusted its clean easy and looks allot more natural than krickets raining from the sky hope this helps lol :p
um crickets is the only staple food i k now it sucks i got a baby beardie and 2 leos :P but yea uhh u can give it variety of foods like worms and stuff but u always need crickets cause mealworms reduce calcium and superworms are the same but bigger and basicly anything else is fat so u gotta deal with the crickest :P
I got my beardie recently and so far ive fed him live crickets and mealworms. Would it be okay to feed canned and dusted crickets instead? One of my crickets escaped somehow and got into my mother's bathroom so she kinda freaked. I've heard from some very good sources that feeding either live or dead is okay but most people go with live becuase its more natural. I dont mind worms but crickets are a little disturbing but if I have to I'll deal with it. any advice?
Put a strip of clear tape around the top of the cage and their feet will not be able to grip and they will fall back down. If you decide to feed dead items then go to your pet store and buy a vibrating plate. I have seen them work very well for an alternative to live feeding. Hope this helps.
ahahah at 2:06 when you move glassthingie there is so much sand there so that it makes that horrible noice. lol when i had my leopard gecko it was the same thing and it was a pain to open it every time lol..
Its a bad noise it reminds me of someone running there finger nails down a blackboard lol. But hey its a small price to pay to have such good pets. Thanks for viewing my vid
Really cool setup.. it makes me want to have a lizard again..i had a leopard gecko.but he died :( anyway i dont have tirarium anymore and it costs alot and im kinda broke so I was wondering if I can have like a big box with a towel or newspaper as substance and i have some hideouts and decorations left from my old setup. so does it works with a big box or is it out of the question?! :p - thanks
hey man, i don't know if you ever was doing any research, but in most care sheet's for bearded dragons i've seen (and it would be around 50 or more) written clearly DON'T FEED YOUR DRAGONS SPINACH or at least try to avoid it as calcium binds on it and that can cause bone disease..... take care, cute dragons by the way!
hi umm ur the first english guy i've guy i've seen with beardies on utube, where did u get ur geckos? i thought that you could only get geckos in hot countries
They like locusts, and if you go to tescos or somewhere like that you can get mixed salad in a bag which mine like.dont forget to dust your bugs in calcium..
nah dude. not when their that size. when their babies and maybe jeuveniles, yes. but their digestive system when their that big is never gonna get impacted by something that small.
No its a thing i bought from the pet store made for the job. but you can use a anything that is clean i wouldnt recomend a shell as its gonna be impossible to clean it and bake it to make sure there are no contamination that could harm the beardies.
You can only have a male on its own as two males fight and a femail with a male works but there will be babies lots and lots. the best way is two femails and have them from babies together so they grow together.
what size tank do you have cuz i want to get another beardie and they seem pretty comfortable

I've read spinach is not good for beardies bec of components that binds to calcium causing deficiency or impaction.

should i place my wter bowl and food dish on the cool side of the tank or maybe middle ways.
pageme101 1 year ago
@pageme101 Place the water and food on the cool side as the water will not evaporate so fast and the food will stay fresher longer....

mxfreak3006 3 years ago
They like locusts, and if you go to tescos or somewhere like that you can get mixed salad in a bag which mine like.dont forget to dust your bugs in calcium..
hardrive76 3 years ago
I wouldnt recomend feeding your dragon lettuce.Because it doesnt have any nutritional value in it.
I only mine collard greens, mustard and kale greens. And insects obviously.Fruits as a treat.
And also you want to sprinkle Retical-vit supplemnts on it food cause this makes sure you Beardie is getting everything he needs.
Bearod35 3 years ago
@mxfreak3006 no point of feeding lettace it give no nutrition its like 90% water
