It is not uncommon for a Greek organization use letters already occupied, especially during a time when the internet wasn't mainstream. This has happened to other historically African-American fraternities, traditionally panhellenic sororities, and others.
aKDPhi isn't an Asian sorority; it's an Asian-interest so there is a big difference.
On the topic of their name, they added an alpha to their name so the name isn't a problem anymore. But I'm glad you did your research.
