Ziiiv i can see that you are trying to make this level look better then it really is.. but i can see on the first screen that this is a very bad level. there is no level design that makes this level its own and there shouldnt be ANYTHING that kills you on the first screen.. at all! well maby if it takes more then 5 seconds before your in danger. Ziiiv and JonTheBastardLPs tray the level Dark Sea by SecretGlitch :P good one but gets really hard when you have playd true some screens.
Ugh...Youtube ignored one of my comments and now they're out of order... Anyways, I played through this entire game, found all the items, found the bad ending, the normal ending, and the easter egg credits screen.
...The level uses a relatively small number of screens, but many areas are used multiple times, so it's quite a lot longer than might be expected, but the small level area also makes it easier to figure out where you're supposed to go.
Overall I don't think this level was all that bad. I'll admit there's two screens that require copious death to solve, such as guessing the last digit of the author's birth year for the final puzzle, and figuring out which blocks are solid and which blocks are not, however, the majority of the game was focused around finding hidden passages and ways around obstacles, and that part was done very well...
My main problem was that a few of the save points were hard to notice. Other than that the game flowed very nicely. I only once had a problem figuring where to go next, but that was because I didn't notice a blatant hint. Basically you just explore all the places you haven't been able to get to before, look closely at everything in the area, and you'll find where to go. Pretty much every secret passage is clearly but subtly hinted at in some way.
...That will allow you to have room to make it past the ground monster without having to worry about the running guy. Second, you weren't really timing the spike bars very well. I noticed you made a run for it lots of times when you didn't have enough clearance.
I'll definitly say that the first room is probably the second hardest screen in the game, which probably wans't a very good idea on the part of the level makers, however, you were making a lot of mistakes. First off, the green running guy is based on predictable AI. He runs away if you're facing him, and runs towards you if you're looking away. You need to get him to move to your right side, then try to make your jumps. ...
