  • Dion and the Belmonts sang many of these songs by the Elegants.

  • A song so good, it came back, in like 2 years, IIRC

  • Just fantastic!

  • i saw vito piccone and his elegants down here in florida a couple yrs ago, sounded fine, erik vonderlieth

  • First time I saw a video of the Elegants performing their song. I have the original recording on an album compiled by a local radio station. This kind of music is not popular anymore.

  • Guitarist. SOOOooo cool!

  • @controversyking Where did I compare it to heavy metal? If Whites like rap, they're called 'Wiggers'. If Blacks like heavy metal they're called 'Uncle Toms'. There's some rap music that doesn't degenerate the culture, but I hear you.

  • Gorgeous harmonies.

Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • Então Daniel....já ouvi com o Erasmo. Gostaria muito de ouvir com o Renato! Manda pra gente por email..... abraço

  • Bela musica que o renato e seus blue caps cantam num disco antologico que tenho em posuo em cd

  • There is a remake of this song that's out now with the Staten Island Expressions, Singer an rapper Sonny G, if anyone has it, I would appreciate it if you post it up. Thanks!!

  • @aldeb456 we don't want it cause next thing blacks will say they own this song and ruin the innocence of the melody.

  • @1986billyk That just goes to show you what you know. Boy are you clueless.

  • @aldeb456 what i mean is a black rapper ruining this kind of music with all that fake swag. if its just some nice black dudes getting together for a retro do wop group i say have at it.

  • @1986billyk I guess when RUN-DMC did the remake of Walk this Way with Aerosmith, it shouldn't have happened either.

  • @aldeb456 gotcha journalism by you. good job. lol i don't really know what your talking about . but i don't care for that androgenious frop steven tyler. and as for run dmc ...aren't they kinnda harmless like the beastie boys.? but whtever.you've got your opinion ...i've got mine .. great country isn't it?

  • @1986billyk Lmao

  • @aldeb456 but if these guys can make some money from it oh well its called show biz .lol but i don't like art to be polluted for money but thats just me !!

  • @1986billyk Pat Boone stole off of Little Richard. Elvis stole off of Bo Diddly. No one complained about the art being polluted. lol

  • @aldeb456 You misconstrued me. i was saying nasty black rappers. get it straight and don't make mountains outta molehills. of course i know that evrybody influences everybody unless you live in a bubble. have a bit of integrity and admit that rappers are ruining music for a quick buck with all their nasty dirty lyrics and banality. i guess your generation must have brought up kids really bad.

  • @1986billyk I said rapper Sonny G an you're talking about nasty black rappers. You just completely ignored the Staten Island Expressions and Singer. It's a song that came out in the late 50's, if any black rapper was to claim it, they'd get sued. You don't even know who Sonny G is, you just made a generalization based on your own predjudice. Now you trying to clean it up. MC Hammer stole from Rick James an got sued. My generation brought up kids real bad? LMAO! Most rappers get sued. Clueless

  • I was referring to the band pictured who were obviously playing at a much later time.

  • I really wore this 45rpm record out many years back!!!

  • What I great song this was.I get depressed seeing this. Those were great days!Where did the time go?

  • vinny the drummer is my friend. rock on vin. nice tune

  • You're always welcome Robert!

  • Wow, this is back when Cars were made out of Steel , men were Tough, and women were Real. Great up load. Thanks!

  • So great to see this! The Elegants were one of my favorite groups, and I still feel that their rendition of "Little Star" is one of the best songs of its time. Thanks so much!

  • @psr2002 : You're always welcome!

  • Wow, your dad is great

  • <3 this cover

  • I know I,ve commented before, but I am still liking his style!

  • love it,doowop, love it

  • Hey Goombas..Dion so owns this song.Nobody even comes close

  • I am going to a Doo Wop show on April 9, 2010 in my city in CA. Can't wait...this music was the very best. Good memories...good times.

  • I heard this song on the radio yesterday, it made me cry reminding me of my deceased Grandmother.

  • I was at this show with my father- I recall Vito had a birthday then same as mine March 26th, & we celebrated together. I recall it was either 1987 or 88.

  • At around 0:14, Vito mentions "the 30th year". The song was out in '58, could this footage be from 1988?

  • Sharp ear, mfhs67. I'm guessing the same. Background says U.G.H.A. which seems to be United in Grounp Harmony Association.

  • wonderfull!!! Even this 70s/80s version sounds gorgeous. Love to see the Elegants performing. Allways wondered what it looked like. Thanks :-)

  • thank you for posting

  • @powerwilson

    You're welcome powerwilson!

  • The guitarist on the end (Bruce Copp) is my dad :)

  • @broadwaymaniac92

    Very good my friend!

  • @broadwaymaniac92 congradulations to You, Great group, and I wore this 45rpm out!!!

  • @broadwaymaniac92 He plays a mean late 60s Strat. Awesome!

  • @StevenCarinci Interesting. Because The Elegants originally recorded in the 1950's.

  • @Azishome strat was invented in 1954 so yes these guys did use 'em,very twangy & bright sound due to the wire coil wound directly onto the magnet polepieces.

  • @broadwaymaniac92 Yeah right! and my dad works for nintendo...

    Lol jk ;p

its truly a beautiful song. A defining golden oldie. You should be extremely proud.

  • you're a fool Synthman!!!

  • did you hear the Crystalaires, Deutsch version? "Kleiner Stern"

  • @JRussoBuffaloNY Yes its brilliant mate

  • yeah man thanks, I agree. Cheers!

  • @estelle715 hey Stella just sayin' Hi, how are ya!

  • a great song, thanks

  • Nice performance. This has to be at least 25 years old from the look and the sound of Vito's voice. This "second" Elegants (Vito's group from the late 70s on) was every bit as good as the original group.

  • I believe 35 years old...more or less!

  • early to mid 70's.

    united group harmony association performance.

  • Awesome!

  • lol true tho its sooo obvious, let it happen natural Vito!!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • funnny funnny

  • Beautiful song. I'm so glad my step-father turned me on to 50's music when I was a kid, I think because he was a doo wop singer, but it helped my appreciation of all music.

  • i was obscessed with this song when i was 7 years old.

  • if the singer grew horns, thats what i imagined the devil to look like...i had a mean azz bus driver that we called the devil...looked like this dude...

  • I was nine years old when this song was released in the summer of 1958. My older brothers played it on the radio. I took my $1.00 to the store and purchased this record. It was the first one I ever bought. I still have it after all these years.

  • Love hearin' those stories about these classic tunes.

  • @conquestdm wow great story man. sounds like a sweet memory.thx for sharing. I wasnt around at the time but love this music.

  • @conquestdm did u get the Apt or Artone?

  • @conquestdm Wow I did the same thing that you did but I was 10yrs old at the time,I also still have it.Rock On

  • These guys are great. Doo wop will live forever! This is a particularly beautiful song. Great harmonies and a great lead singer. Wish I was a few years younger. I could have heard them in their prime.

Wait, nah! I would have been draft-age, too!

  • Yes Doo Wop WILL live forever.

  • When I was a little kid, I listened to this song over and over. I had totally forgotten it for 50 years. And now I'm listening to it again.

  • This song was the best ever when it came out! Came out when I was a kid!

    Great memories!

  • That's what so great about Doo-Wop, for just about every song recorded is the best ever. Doo-Wop, the greatest sounding music to one's ear.

  • my grandmother went out with vito no joke !!!

  • I went to OLQP AND NDHS...and hung at So Beach/Dongan Hills....who is your grandmother......? My friends are still in touch with the original Elegants....incl. Vito.......

  • @nickjluva97 She must be from South Beach

  • Does anyone know the name of the movie that this song is in? It was made some time in the 90's and features the story of an affair between a woman and a younger male...?

  • maybe your thinking of 'mischief' made in the 80s.. i remember that movie had this song. but story line is more about boy who wants to lose virginity with dream girl

  • I love it!! I love it!! and I'm so thankful that these men are carrying on, what to me is some of the greatest music that ever graced our "street corners", and airwaves of America!!! Good job fellas!!! Marc Trainor.

  • most beautiful song ever written.

  • Ich liebe diesen Song - lovely - many Stars*****

  • thanks for the info

  • lOVE THE SONG, however am always shocked and surprised tpo see late 50' and earyl 60' teen idol with brilliant rockabilly "banana" hairstyle turned to something much MORE late 60 style,,,well the music is still nice, and of course that's only my childish opinion..:)

  • Great. I wonder if they can still do this now.

  • Of course they can!

  • Do you have a video to post that shows it?

  • they play here in staten island, every year at the county fair.

  • genius song.

  • I agree!!!

  • It was 1988. Vito Piccone (original lead singer) says it's been "30 years".

  • I noticed he said 30 years long back myself. Could be the outfits were costume. The guitar player definitely has 80's glasses...big and round. hahahahaha

  • this was definately the 70's the collar outside the jacket..is the giveaway. P.S i wore the same i'm 56..song from around1958

  • ....ELEGANTS>>>>>>>>still lovin' ya after all these years....you still ROCK ! ! !

  • ....ELEGANTS>>>>>>>>still lovin' ya after all these years....you still ROCK ! ! !

  • Apparently the song was that good considering it was one of the most influential song of its era.

  • It was cool! I loved the lead singer-sounded just like then original song.
