  • i love AF

  • WOW, amazing song by a great band.

  • Remember when I bought this album. I really didn't expect it to be this good. I mean I expected it to be great, but this is just phenominal.

  • "Never trust a millionaire quoting the sermon on the mount." <--so true. All the Romney-tards need to see this song.

  • Good tune, but that bass really sounds like Street Fighting Man.

  • Aracde Fire wins

  • @defaultuser404 i love street fighting man but i don't see any real similarity here.

  • @gorgolyt The progression in the beginning uses the same chords, other than that i really dont hear it either

  • @gorgolyt It's only the bass line first heard at the beginning of the song which sounds like Street Fighting Man. I'm not saying Arcade Fire are hacks who purposely ripped off the Stones or anything, just that it's reminiscent.

  • wooooo!

  • FARKIN BRILL LYRICS

  • @Metropolinathan lololol...Maybe, maybe...

  • When our history teacher started talking about how Gilded Age cities had very few children in them, this song started playing in my head. Then she started talking about the rise of American Suburbia...guess what song I thought of then?

  • Sorry @Althalus1990....think I aimed that at the wrong person....it was aimed at the person who said this was worthless and they couldn't relate....etc.

  • You have to look at everything in it's proper PERSPECTIVE. Music touches different people in different ways and some none at all....nobody is right or wrong for that. But going under that song and just openly trashing it is just shameful. How old are you? I see 1990 by your name....but that is obviously not when you were born. I am 31...how old are you, out of curiousity to try and understand, @Althalus1990?

  • @Althalus1990 You suck, your opinon sucks and YouTube officially thinks you're a tool, gg bro.

  • Wow. Seriously. Music is how you interpret it, and some people cannot relate. I CAN and DO. I am 31 and have a 9 year old daughter stuck in a liberal white-hating country. I sit and CRY to this album and relate to every damn word and line and phrase. But if you asked me ..if I could relate to Elvis or Lady GaGa I would say....Hell NO. They BOTH SUCK. I HATE most of the popular music today. It just makes me sick. But this band is priceless....and yes, Joy Division is one my dearest.

  • youre wrong 5 people have no taste in music at all :D

  • @HumanLife52627 I absolutely agree...

  • @HumanLife52627 ...It's not my term, it's apparently what we as a generation are refered to by social critics and so on. I'm not some old guy who is mocking this new music and in some way saying.."meh, it's been done before"...but it is true we are called that, I object to it of course but it's from working at uni these past few months the shit kinda rubs off....

  • @TheSnooch123 it sucks when the generation themselves can't even pick their own name.

  • I was going to comment, but then I noticed to argument and I was scared away. ;_;

  • @Althalus1990 I think it is sad people attack you because your preference to music is different. I personally would never say negative things about a band on ONE OF THEIR OWN SONGS because there are plenty of other places to say it. Also, your taste in music is hardly awful IMO so if you don't like Arcade Fire, so be it.

  • This is essentially Springsteen for the Facebook generation...great stuff...

  • @TheSnooch123 The Facebook generation? Please don't call us that. Thank you.

  • @TheSnooch123 true, but you might be underrepresenting boss and fb's greatness

  • freakin love this song

  • I"m currently on a quest to listen to the so called Grammy Award for Album of the Year. I'm doing this because I don't want to be an ignorant tool who rejects a band because he's never heard of them. I'm Canadian and I've never even heard of them until the Grammy's. I hope the next songs are better because I am not convinced. This album has only made it as high as #12. It is a joke. The singer sucks and all the instrumentation is plain as prison walls. The lyrics do not say anything,,,

  • @Althalus1990 1. Singer doesn't suck just because you don't like his singing style. Good singing is overated nowadays anyway.

    2. Since when did a chart position determine how good a band is?

    3. I'll agree with you on the instrumentation being plain on a few songs on this album, but listen to songs like half light 1, half light 2 and sprawl 2. This album isn't as good as the previous two in instrumentation.

    4. Lyrics mean what you interpret them to. You obviously don't interpret them very well.

  • @Althalus1990 Listen to some of their other stuff first, like Wake Up and Ready to Start. I think that listening to the best first helps you apreciate the not as good (but still fantastic, in my opinion) songs. Also, have you listened to the song The Suburbs yet? That's one of my favorites.

  • @CloudGirl8 : Dude, I agree so much. I love those three songs SO freaking much

  • @CloudGirl8 I'm analyzing the supposed ALBUM OF THE YEAR, the past work doesnt matter in this analysis. and yes I heard the whole album when I did all this

  • @Althalus1990 hi althalus 1990. i know this is a little off the subject of arcade fire, but i'm here like you checking this band out because i wanna increase my musical library with some new stuff. just wondering if you would share some music you recommend that i could check out. thx

  • @dettigs : yes I know that some of these will obviously be mainstream but I'm not going to leave them out for the sake of newness : Rusted Root,The Proclaimers,Johnny Cash,Barenaked Ladies,Billy Talent,Tal Bachman,Wax(the rapper),Journey,Foreigner,Aerosmith,Airbourne,The Zombies,The Talking Heads,Portugal. The Man,Danzig,ACDC,N.W.A.,Alice Cooper,Alice in Chains,Amanda Blank,Amy McDonald,Arctic Monkeys,Audio Slave,Pearl Jam,Rolling Stones,RHCP,Bad Religion,Parallel Dimenion Beatles,Serena Ryder

  • @dettigs PS: thanks for asking. I could go on to other things that I like but I'm sure that list could keep someone occupied for days if anyone tried to listen to all their material in one sitting. Further, I'm not saying that any of these bands should get or deserve grammy's for anything, its just a small piece of my preferences. I'm glad to be answering something not related to my rants on the arcade fire thing. Thank you again dettigs

  • @Althalus1990 thank you for the list. some i have never heard before and the others i will enjoy checking them out. here's a few songs by groups that aren't household names that you might enjoy: the day the earth caught fire by city boy, still counting by volbeat, i'm good, i'm gone by lykke li, the unwinding cable car by anberlin, and down and out by tantric. thanks again!

  • @dettigs Thank you sir. I'll check it out right now actually.

  • @Althalus1990 @dettigs Wow, dettigs, you actually fed this troll?

  • @CardingtonLZF I'm completely serious CardingtonLZF. I really don't like Arcade Fire and I could not keep it to myself. Its off my chest and now I care less. Feels good.

  • this is a great band. say no more just listen

  • this is a great band. say no ore just listen

  • reminds me so much of Ringo Starr's "photograph"!

  • coldplay and arcade fire... i have to say that i discovered this band like the last week but man this is the things that is more alike to coldplay... Good music... Good use of instruments... good lyrics and transport you to your world!

  • @wwenba360 omg are u me !?? i luv coldplay and arcade fire.!!i discoverd coldplay like 4 years ago. and i discovered arcade fire like two mnts ago.wth rite!

  • deadly song who agress

  • Impossible to dislike.

  • I can't believe these vidz of Arcade Fire have so few views. Excellent, meaningful and often moving lyrics with a good rhytm and often catchy riffs. A sure key to succes! And yet.... it's not reflected by number of views. I guess they'll have to do with the praise they get from all us here writing these comments :) keep on making great songs like these!!!

  • Kind of reminds me of 'Made of Stone' by the Stone Roses. What do you think?

  • Awesome track!

  • This song is a triumph! Thank you Canada!

  • Thats Indi rock :D

  • 3 people have a different taste in music, and i'm okay with that

  • @omgpuppies0707 Who says Youtube commenters are assholes?

  • @omgpuppies0707

i'm not they should die :D

  • @omgpuppies0707 well said. tired of coming across those typical b.s. comments.

  • @omgpuppies0707 eminem is a hell of alot better

  • i only just discovered this, where have i been?

  • I LOVE Arcade Fire!

  • love this. the first line always makes me shut up and listen

  • messy mix of the guitar sounds raw...cool sound

  • i find that some artists do indeed sound so similar its hard to differentiate the songs. I dont get that with these guys...

  • Why does this only show my views? :P

  • why do we constantly have to compare. all bands are inspired by each other, and the same bands so sometimes they have the same sound. just enjoy that you can get great music from two bands instead of bringing one of them down.

  • @kias3290 well said!

  • Okay.....AMAZING SONG!!!

  • the giutar riff is cool as fuck

  • I live in Vegas and they came down to play here earlier this month. I love how Win said this before playing this song, "This next song is about a city, a city much like this one..."

  • Opening for U2, July 30th!

  • This is like Street Fighting Man by The Rolling Stones only much better.

  • "Dreamt I drove HOME to HOUSTON" <3

  • My friend today told me that he is thinking of flying to Chicago next month and watching The Arcade Fire. I told him I'm in, plus the world is ending soon idiots say, so let's just watch this band and then be done with it.

When I realized I will be watching this band, this is the first song that came to my mind. It is not even among their top 5 songs but I just wanted to listen to it.

    Song of the day.

  • @spaceydecember - my song of today, too :)

  • this is gonna be next single!

  • Yet another amazing album, how do they do it!? Pure Genious! Truely the greatest band of this generation!

  • Awesome track which for the record sounds fuck all like the killers

  • shouldnt poeple just stop wasting time making useless comments about wich band is better? i listen to the killers, arcade fire, arctic monkeys, the editors, jason mraz, DJVT, MGMT, blood red shoes, go back to the zoo, bon iver, etcetera, etcetera i dont f*cking care which one is the best, i just listen to the dam awsome pretty magniffecent music and dont care about WHO is the best.........

more poeple should listen to the prettieniss of music and not the way its performed by different styles...

  • This is the only track i like by arcade fire, because it sounds original indie.

  • They should really re-write the word EPIC to spell Arcade fire instead

  • I bought this CD because a poster said he hadn't heard anything like it since Kid A. So I bought my first AF CD. To that poster, I say Thank YOU!

    And it's soooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooood.

    No doubts about.

  • @DonaldRumsfailed I'd say its better then Kid A and OK Computer, yeah, I said it.

  • @Jogonpants If you had said Funeral then I would have agreed.

  • such brutally realistic lyrics

  • @seethemound apparently you dont have much experience with youtube. go search any bands music videos and i assure you it'll be the same

  • why do people always compare bands? either you like them or not. I like Arcade Fire because they are very good and very talented. period.

  • I can only compare them to Radiohead. That's pretty much the highest compliment you can pay anybody. They don't sound the same, but are both the best bands! I like Crown of love and the Suburbs best.

  • Post-punk revival? Apparently the forerunners in that for the 21st century would have to be Green Day. And before that, it would be possible to tell. Grunge came out (and was pure genius, btw) and pop music slowly made itself more prominent. Where did punk get lost and come back?

  • @broadworld *it would be IMpossible

  • WHO THE FK STARTED COMPARING THE KILLERS TO ARCADE FIRE?! Seriously? who was the idiot who thought they were even relatively CLOSE? Arcade Fire are the heart of Indie music. The Killers are a crap band that became so engulfed in mainstream fame that they have songs that sound the same. It's as if they ripped a song off their own album to develop a new song that sounds like the former. Arcade Fire are original, real, beautiful, and artistic. DON'T COMPARE THEM.

  • This whole album is an utter work of art, Arcade Fire have always made amazing music. The lyrics, the multitude of instruments complementing each other and the overall sound and feel given off. I LOVE ARCADE FIRE. and The Killers do not compare im afraid.

  • I think Neon Bible is their best album.

  • Killers are better.

  • @Sage80 Yes, because it's not subjective.

    Fuckin' troll.

  • @Sage80 Obviously either a really sarcastic person, or extremely stupid.

  • Funeral = You love it at first but then it dies out a bit

The Suburbs = You don't like it at first but then you really love it.

  • @GenesisTree EXACTLY!!! just listen to it a couple time and its album of the... ever?

  • Please don't compare Arcade Fire to anyone. Thank you.

  • Well, I think I have fallen in love. No big deal.

  • ***** :)

  • without a doubt one of the greatest bands of the modern era. truly amazing.

  • This is a wonderful song off of a wonderful album. It's got it all. This piece is so eerie and beautiful. This album turned me into a huge AF fan.

  • Fuck the killers.

  • I like the way you put that the songs really do have a "heartland feel". There is open space and freedom in every verse - makes me want to run away and keep running. Disagree that they don't carry similarities with The Killers though. I think they definitely do, and The Killers are awesome by the way, just like Arcade Fire they've produced some of the greatest tunes of the decade

  • It great to hear what will become classic song, when it first comes out.

  • This is my favourite song on what could in time turn out to be a truly classic album. its immense the few times i have listened to it so far

  • Brilliant song. Brilliant band. And leave belfastchild alone for us northerners know a thing or two about music !!! Cue...The Undertones.....

  • Street Fighting Man de los Stones

  • Best melody on the album period. Although I'm not too sure about the production, there's that cool piano that comes in and out that should be much more clear.

  • This song has a definite Bruce Springsteen vibe to it. Pretty kewl.

  • I like the Killers but I LOVE Arcade Fire!

  • @guitardds I didn't know people compared them togther, but yeah the killers are good but they are no arcade fecking fire!

  • I JUST BOUGHT THIS ALBUM. THIS IS ALBUM AND THIS SONG IS A MASTER PIECE. SO FAR FOR ME THE BEST SONG ON THE DISK.

  • My god, this is the best song of the year so far. Flippin Fantastic!

  • Arcade Fire & The Killers sound fuck all like each other

  • @belfastchild76 Please don't compare the arcade fire to the killers. the killers are generic, repetitive and rather boring minus a select few songs. the Arcade Fire manges to experiment with multiple insturments and styles and carry such a heartland feel with an epic indie rock sound.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn Thats wat I said..........they're nothing like each other (fuck all means, nothing).....Don't try and tell me about Arcade Fire or the Killers....as I think I mite know a little more than you may think

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn

    I like both bands *coughs*

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn you just compared the arcade fire to the killers

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn

Aww, come on, don't take The Killers down the road like that. Sure, Sawdust was a meh album but Hot Fuss and Day & Age are really great, and a few songs from Sam's Town. Also, I agree in that these two bands don't sound alike at all, it's just they both do sweeping stadium rock

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn THE arcade fire?

  • @DANNYK678 Arcade Fire.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn People have different opinions.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn so what you're saying is: The Killers are better but Arcade Fire use more instruments and have about 14 members so they're good. Great.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn This sounds just like the Killers.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn I love Arcade Fire and all you say about them it's totally true. But I love The Killers stuff too (be honest, do you save just a few songs? please forget Flamingo and Brandon flowers solo mess!) and I think they're so different that we can compare them in any way. You can like or dislike but making comparison is pretty much useless. Arcade Fire are one of the most brilliant band of our days and I'll be so glad if Killers have the same courage of expermentation! :)

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn yes but portugal the man is even better

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn The Killers are great. Why do you have to bring down one band to love another? I LOVE The Killers and I LOVE Arcade Fire.

  • Comment removed

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn The Killers are a good band. They're no where near as groundbreaking, innovative, unique or great as Arcade Fire, but they are a fun band that make enjoyable songs. They remind me of Queen. Queen aren't Pink Floyd, but people like Queen. Now enough of this indie rock feud, let's listen to some good music.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn They're not generic, repetive, or boring. Yes, Arcade Fire does experiment and it works for them, but don't be rude about it. The Killers are really good too.

  • @LondonLovesBrooklyn There is no such thing as an Epic Indie Rock. This band hails from my country and even I admit that they do not deserve the recognition they get. Every aspect of this band is as plain as prison walls. An album that only made it as high as #52 should never have won anything anywhere.

  • @belfastchild76 YOU TALK SHIT. The killers is post-punk -revival. I love both bands. So i can tell you. their nothing alike. Other than they both have great and meaningful lyrics.

  • @splinter360 I love both bands too.....you guys are mis-understanding what Im trying to say.....these 2 bands DO NOT sound anything like each other....I am NOT trying to compare them, someone else in an earlier post did........BUT Splinter what I can say is that The Killers DO NOT have meaningful lyrics while Arcade Fire do.....but The Killers, too are an amazing live act (I've seen both these bands a few times now) but don't compare to Arcade Fire, live......As for post-punk-revival, I disagree

  • @belfastchild76 The killers don't have deep lyrics??? I wont have this conversation with you on comments out of respect to Arcade fire, we'll continue on messaging.

  • @splinter360 'I've got soul but I'm not a soldier' 'Are we human, or are we dancer?' That's not deep, it's not even meaningful.

  • @kkwillsaveus Have you even listened to Goodnight travel well or Why do I keep counting? If you have then simply have not grasped the meaning, or simply haven't found it meaningful

  • @kkwillsaveus your 100% right......"the say the nile used to run from east to west"

    wtf

  • Arcade Fire sounds like this, if anything the Killers copy Arcade Fire.

  • Just pre-ordered this on iTunes after less than a minute of this song.

    Beautiful snaking Cure bass line.

  • arcade fire covering the killers covering springsteen ? #notcomplaining

  • @thisisrobertb i'm hearing springsteen, but i think you just pulled the killers out of your ass.

  • @thisisrobertb not everything is about america
