Yes it is expensive but you have to look at this another way, there are a lot of company's that focus on making virals ( videos that look amateur to generate publicity ). Apple them selves for one use this trick a lot (so do car company's, they call them spy video,s ... ). And these company's want there video to look amateur but not so much that its unclear what is happening. For those company's this is the ultimate weapon.

freaking redicilous - if you want to shoot VIDEO, get a camera, not a freakin bitchphone! doesnt matter at all if your phone videos are shakey- the image quality sucks, shakey or not..... professionals, lol... no professional uses a phone as a camera :D

is there a ball joint between the grip and the pole that the phone mount attaches to? that red knob to tighten/loosen it, if you left it "loose" coiuld it move freely as a gimble like on a steady cam, say the merlin?

Everything Zacuto sells is OVERPRICED. They sell a $5300+ DSLR camera support setup for a $2699 (Canon 5d Mark 2) still/video camera. Who and why would anyone spend that kind of money. $5300 buys some nice lenses and other production gear.

@n2productionsdotcom didnt find the 5300$ one, "just" about 4k is what i found. which includes the follow focus (1300$). you will not find much cheaper on a professional level. its very much the price that devides pro from am equipment.

example, my cam canon xha1: 4000$. add 1 SDI port and 1 TC out you have the xhg1@7000$.

but no1 needs a stabilizer for his phone, redicilous...

Just an addition: Even though I agree that the price might be more applicable to professionals, it must be remembered that professionals aren't going to use an iPhone to record video, even if this product gives smoother quality. I really have no idea why Zacuto thought that this product would be a good idea, where they thought the market for it was, and where they put the $300 cost. Are $50 bills wedged into the hollow tube?

the two sample vids look the same to me. all you've done is basically add an appendage to your hand which does not fix the lack of image stabilization.

what a waste. The iphone 3gs wasn't meant to replace a real camcorder in the first place. There really isn't a point to it. Might as well use that hd cam and the tripod.
