Believe it or not, fuel can account for up to 50% of an airplane's weight. With the plane that heavy, the momentum (mass times velocity) would be too great, which would require either a longer runway for landing or significantly tougher brakes. It is okay when a plane is taking off because it just needs more thrust, but the brakes are too precious to take to such an extreme.
