MY INSPIRATION…. I think this is probably they greatest hip hop film or documentary in history …circa 1982 Bronx, NY….They original untold story of the emerging underground hip hop culture comming outta NYC at the time„„This movie has been sample by some of your favorite artist such as Nas, jay z
This was for sure the start of Hip Hop, a Solid 80% of rappers delight where rhymes borrowed from true artists like this. Sylvia Robinson found Big Bank Hank making Pizza's and rapping lyrics that he heard in a New York club. Hank was from Jersey. Great Movie.
2 eny and brownsville, never ran and never will..... u know.......ole skool joint.......i come from the jolly stompers, sex boyz and the tomahawks era.....ole skool jeffhead........krooklyn better known as brooklyn.......number 2 new lots will always live...........to my real bro.......and sis............peace and keep it real..........
to all the so called thugs out there. give respect. before all of that gangsta bullshit......this was the shit.....listen to the words...just spitting lyrics that didn't hurt nobody. read between the lines. peace!
Man, what the hell happened?! Things used to be so pure. Hip Hop took the same tragic turn as rock....commercialism tainted and destroyed a good thing. Not to mention people ignorance. I've got to buy this movie!!
Hell yea. This the ground foundation and these young kids that I know say old school Hip Hip like this wack and I just laugh at their dumb asses, Respect the culture you young dumb asses
Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust, we are the Brothers known as the Cold Crush. Not one, not two, not three, but four, we put your arms in the air and your feet on the floor. Guaranteed to give you what you gave your money for. Cuz the Cold Crush Brothers got Rhymes Galore. MAN BRING THIS STUFF BACK GUYS. Let's quit allowing these rich exects dicate our music. Peace!!!
this marked the beginning of the end of REAL rap, where the mc created rhymes to regular songs, not created a rap song, which tends to compromise creativity and spontaneity.
I did, well I thought I did. :o) I will check it out again :o) I know the movie is too long buuuuuuuuuuut the guy who uploaded this could upload the second half of this battle, would be nice. (part 2 maybe?)

it's not Debra, but another "undisputed queen of the downtown scene [...] She found the world famous FUN Gallery, the epicenter of the early 80's art explosion [...]The first in the East Village, showcased such artists as Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Fab 5 Freddy, Zephyr & Dondi."
Classic movie and great sound track...inspirational. Beat street was another movie that popularised hip hop culture and was ground breaking in my opinion. These movies brings back memories of growing up and trying to break dance in my aunties kitchen. Now im 37 years old and a company director...how time flies
... yesss, wiiild style,... a document in hip hop history, i watched first time in `83! i was 8 years,a turkish guy in southwest-germany, for me, it was the beginin to do hip hop, like B-Boying, later in the 90`s i was one of the dopest writer in south-germany,... this movie had so an influence to me,... maybe, i watched more than 200 times, really, and style wars, too, man,... real hip hop,... oldschool will never die,... its in my body, in my blood,...
British Walkers, mock necks, and Greek fisherman caps. West Coast just don't know. This was the shit. I was there at the amphitheater back in '82 when they lensed it. The Furious Five's routine was on the cutting room floor, too bad. When this documentary was released in Spring '83, everybody got hyped.
young kids just don't know their history. do u remember chams dabarron shirts? playboys, uptowns, name buckles n shit. and who can forget the ultimate hip hop accessory the dookie gold rope. peace 2 JUSTICE
