For me, personally, the "why" part of this equation is not convincing. But, if there were to ever be martial law I know a way you can win, average citizen. Make note of anyone and everyone you know that might be involved in policing the people under such an action and learn all about their family and friends. If they take arms against average citizens we have a network that knows all about each soldiers family. Would bug the shit out of me if I were one enforcing martial law.
