Why does everyone need to know if one or the other is 1 second faster than the other one, is this going to make a big change in your life if your screen does not flip within a tenth of a second, come on get a grip.
Like this if you think the HD2 should be on Sprint or in that case, all the other carriers. The closest thing we have as a great phone is the Pro2 (As far as Windows Mobile goes.)
@Season12Idol I ordered the touch pro 2 and I'm trading it in for the HD2 or the Samsung Vibrant as T mobile is discontinuing the touch pro 2 just like At&t did
screen rotation speed my ass... it depends on the sensor, if its sensitive enough... some people just don't use theyre head, I dont have either of the devices, and i'm not a fanboy , but people should really know that devices must be optimized corectly.. sometimes the nexus might be faster , sometimes slower.. same with the HD... thumbs up if u think that these demonstrations are bullshit and should stop comparing phones for the few seconds of responding
TO those who say the skyfire browser is cheating because it's using a server, fine u got us so we'll just whip out an android rom from xda developers run haret.exe and ohh would u look at that same results !
I love the display on the HD2, however it's just not up to par with the Nexus One at the moment. Maybe with some software updates it may get there. My friend's HD2 always freezes up on him.
I'm also partial to the Android os. I don't think I would want a smart phone without it.
thats what it is.... it redraws when you scroll meaning it didnot fully load the web page but part of it that why you have the checkered pattern.... while nexus one loads everything up..... here what... thy using opera 5 for both then you see which is faster
this hd2 suck ,, big time,, i left droid for it n went back to droid.. fuck this phone .. i could text 15 x faster on droid than i can on hd2.. that keyboard is fucken slow even with swype on it.. fuck that.. too bad such a nice phone is useless .. that you can't even use it for a quick text.......... droid number one.. even better than nexus one..
Skyfire is even bad in my opinion! I´m an owner of the HD 2 and think that even the original Opera is still faster and even better for use than the skyfire browser! Got the Skyfire only because of the Flash - Support ! For other things I don´t use it cause i found so many mistakes while running !
the htc hd2 lost. The nexus already loads the page for you to scroll through the page and click another link. you have to wait until htc hd2 to load the whole page before you can interact with it
Anyone who thinks the Nexus one is faster than a HD2, your pretty dumb. I actually used a HD2 before and I bet you have not. My friend has it and I play with it all the time.
The HD2 is way better than the Nexus one and iPhone no caparison seriously. My friend has it, and I play with it all the time, its so fast. He is selling it to me and getting the new HTC Desire so I cant wait haha.
I'd rather have a 3 second slower loading speed and have a perfectly loaded screen than something that has a gay checker board shit. Nexus one is the clear winner here.
@Niterunner144 sounds like an uneducated response if you ask me. I've seen a shit load of phone matchups between the N1 and HD2 and Nexus one seems to win them all. Do the research before you reply.
@ChillRays Sorry man, but I actually used a HD2 more than once. Have you? if you have, then nice. My friend has it and I play with it all the time. I know the exact specs of the HD2 and N1, and the HD2 is better. Iphone, no comparison between the 2. But HD2 is better, not in just web browsing. Plus the HD2 has more ram, and same processor 1 GHz snapdragon. I know my research.
Dudes.. fanboys... the HD2 is alot faster with any browser... did you know it has a twice as fast prossecor as an iPhone? did you know it has the same type of wi-fi as an Acer Aspire laptop... this was obviously a bad internet connection as it is extremely fast usually.
And I think this is a bit dumb though since the Nexus One has a slower processor, another web browser, has slower wi-fi
@tahnoobcake Your name says it all. Do you not realize the Nexus One was the first phone in the US to use the Snapdragon processor? Obviously not. Grats on having no idea what your'e talking about.
when you use skyfire it is making your phone run through a server proxy. so your phone is sending information to skyfires servers and there like a computer that runs that and displays it on your screen. some people say it is not safe. the stock android browser is like any other browser. like i said skyfires is a lot different.
this is a stupid comparison. you cant compare skyfire with another stock mobile browser. this fag fuck was just trying to make the nexus one look stupid
i am not a fanboy of anything i will just support what i belive to be better if apple came out with a better phone then htc had then i would get that and the same for any company if windows ever came out with a better OS then Mac's i would get that but some things will just never happen at the moment since the HTC desire isnt out yet... the nexus one is the best phone on the market :FACT:
skyfire is not faster... the nexus one loads the whole page skyfire just loads whats being displayed and when you scroll it needs to RE- Load... that sucks..
The Nexus One received official multitouch support on February 3rd w/ an OTA update. So I don't know where you're getting it that it doesn't have multitouch in the browser.
skyfire is not faster... the nexus one loads the whole page skyfire just loads whats being displayed and when you scroll it needs to RE- Load... that sucks.. and the nexus one has to load higher resolution content so im pretty damn sue the nexus one is a better experience
Higher Resolution content ? What the fuck are you talking about.
It does NOT need to re-load, and higher resolution ? Why ? The HD2 has a higher display resolution than the Nexus but that doesn't have to do anything with it's browsing capabilities :S
why should it load a higher resolution? both deviced have a 800x480 pixel-display.
but youre right: skyfire sucks.
... but so does the browsing-experience on the nexus one. I mean, come on: no multitouch AND fucked-up-double-tap-zooming (which would be outdated, even if it worked)... thats bullshit!
@biboKralle really the nexus one is multitouch capable, but google is gay and has not use it yet :/. maybe google will use it for something good in a couple of months :).
@ped9010: mh, they are really dumb then! oO But I anyways think that Android looks bad without Sense. With HTC Sense I totally like android!! My girlfriend just bought a HTC Tattoo and I just orderd my HD2 yesterday, but if I don't like it, I still can return in the next 14 days. If I do so, I will wait for the HTC Bravo or the HTC Supersonic, which equals the HD2 with Android and Sense UI! - absolutely brilliant in terms of customization :)
@biboKralle totally agrre with you, i love the HD2 ^^, but a phone with android and sense UI plus the power of and hd2, omg that's will be just awesome!
@TomaCukor no my butt does not hurt i wasnt "rapped" by anything. what are you talking about if you think the hd2 with skyfire is better you sir are just an idiot
Look at 1:16 the double tap on HD2 is not necesary to read buy in the nexus one even with the zoom all is too small to have a better internet experience.
Both are great phones, both are fast... You need to learn a lot to make a impartial review. This is not.
i agree with you, one second on phone means nothing, like rotation speed, all have snapdragon processor which is used in IPad which is impressing for such small device..
Skyfire is like running netboost from cheesy ass netzero.... lower image quality, doesn't load whole page till u scroll down.... not really a win for htc... keep crying... google doesn't want you, Nexus one FTW
nexus one is the best phone out, at this moment, and for the ifag tools, yes pinch zoom is added through an over the air update, as well as fixing any 3g problems. thx.
Windows Mobile isn't slow. The hardware it used to run on was slow. Still it is quite an old OS at heart and if you can't get around that, go Android. As for programs, Android has fun applications, WinMo has more business applications. For watching videos, I'm partially colourblind so the HD2 having less screen colours isn't an issue for me at all. HD2's screen is its winning factor for me...it's just astounding.
lol..I heard T-Mobile service was shitty except for a few major cities...but damn i want one of those phones....at least the Nexus is going to Verizon in a few months.
I wish they would test on a page that doesn't have a thousand ads on it. Everyone knows that the ad servers can hang on requests and cause the progress bar to halt. However, the content is fully viewable and the page is usable.
The only reason it is faster is because it is loading a smaller part of the webpage opposed to the nexus one which loads the WHOLE page. That is why when you scroll down fast skyfire has to load...... Give me a break, no kit kat plz....
I was so close to getting one from abroad, but now that they announced that will pack 576MB RAM and 1GB ROM; I just can not look at any other phone. I will be getting my HD2 from T-Mobile USA as soon as it comes out :)
I love both phone, but coming from Windows Mobile 6.5 to Android 2.1, and with almost 2 years experience with Windows Mobile from registry tweaking to full blood flashaholic, I can say, Androids is way better, I know I didn't want to believe it either,
I've use Skyfire for years and notice that it only renders around 30% of the web page and not the whole web page, that's why you see checker, The Nexus One render 100% of the web page, and Nexus already supports 802.11n by default
okay, i got 3gs, and i love those two devices! htc for being huge screen 1ghz animal, and nexus one for being android! if i could i would have all 3 of them :(
But i want to know what about spyware, trackingcookies, virusses and other threats when browsing on your phone. Is there any software installed that protects you from that???
The Nexus One was a failure. Im not an Apple fanboy or anything but the iPhone OS is really still the best smartphone user experience. I have a Palm Pre now and will be getting the HTC Bravo soon.
Well, Sense UI is great, but I was tring to get at the iPhone OS is still the best over-all OS. It's a combination of eye-candy, productivity, and pure smartphone awesomeness.
Notice that in my previous comment I stated that the HTC Bravo will be my next phone. ;-)
@MR9872 , lol well you can't multi task with the iPhone OS so I dunno about that productivity claim. The weather animations with the easy access to contacts, apps, web pages, and more right there on the homescreen without having to go through multiple aplications, plus the screen size itself is more eye-candy then the iPhone can handle. Though i must agree.... The iPhone is pretty awesome. but the US version HD2 now has 1gb ROM and 528mb Ram. Take that nexus one and iPhone hahaha!
Nexus = Too little too late, the OS looks outdate, it tries to compeat with iphone but just cant, i dont have an iphone and im not a apple fan (will be getting the hd2 :)) but after 3 years the iphone OS is still the smoothes and fastets out there by responding time etc.
To those complaining about the Android UI, might I remind you that behind the Sense UI on the HD2 is an archaic UI ashamed to show itself? Let's not even go there. Oh, and as an iphone user, I really don't have a dog in this fight. :)
The problem with WM is that it always needs to rely a third party app (skyfire) or UI (Sense UI) to pick up the slack. WM is bloated and buggy. As for Skyfire, what good is a browser if you always have to wait for the screen to be redrawn AFTER IT HAS ALREADY LOADED? Unfortunately, all that 1gz processor goodness is being heavily taxed and wasted on a WM device.
xda developers have this new tweak that add rotation and pinch to zoom on every thing on the phone like Skyfire,TomTom Navigator, market place, pinch to zoom the calculator even the connection settings you can pinch to zoom it calls BsB Tweaks for the hd2 only
I also concur with that statement. I have had an Android phone for quite some time now and as it has satisfied every want I could ever conjure for a phone, once i used Sense UI on the hero and seeing this interface on the HD2, I must say it simply just cannot be beaten.
Nexus one is better I think, altough skyfire loads the full page faster. The page only pops up at the last second. At the Nexus one, you can already read a little before the page is fully loaded.
Faster my ass, they both have the same processor and the HD2 has less ram than the N1, both are obviously about the same in speed if the N1 isn't faster. Skyfire doesn't load the whole webpage like the Android browser = checkerboard.
Big screen and sense is nice but android is better than winmo.
hi all isnt the n1 better due to oled screen i currently have i8910 the screen on it is ultra fab should i upgrade to n1 or hd2 please help. i dont really want a ip3gs, also what about satnav on n1 thanks all
They have a great browsing experience, each has pros and cons, skyfire may be upgraded and made faster, whereas Flash, Opera Mobile and Mozilla Fennec are coming to the N1
Again this is the stock browser, Dolphin browser handles perfectly Multitouch and Opera Mini is rocket fast
So please stop whining, at least at we do have something different as the iCrap
look point blank the hd2 is the best phone out, the only phone that can compare to the hd2 is the iphone.
b4 u comment i am a htc user since 05,and will continue to use htc(infact im leaving sprint for tmobile just so i can get an hd2) but lets face it the iphone HAD it limitations but we(all smartphones) have been emulating the iphone in some way, every since the iphone came out.
anywho
either u have an new iphone or an hd2(this spring) or u have nothing.
I use Opera Mobile as it performs fine for me, although the fact that you can watch BBC iPlayer and other Flash-based services on Skyfire is quite appealing.
The only thing with Skyfire is that it doesn't feel very user friendly. The scrolling/redraw 'issue' is fairly insignificant though I think...
I prefer Opera Mini to Skyfire in pages without video or a flash because it is far better at scrolling than Skyfire, 'cos it dosen't work with images, it works with texts. And all the page is loaded once, not only when you scroll.
Server side compression makes loading faster but not a big advantage after loading finished. However, my mother says her phone with Opera Mini is faster than my desktop computer and it is really so. :D
You are comparing a real browser (nexus one) with a picture viewer.
Skyfire loads only the viewable part of the page using a proxy server that do all the rendering process and sends picture of the page. Thats why you can`t scroll the page downwards properly. If you force Skyfire to load the whole page, it will take alot of time and data.
I would have liked to see at least ONE flash video running... why didn't you try that? It's a major feature for Skyfire on WM. I wanted to see how choppy it was...
i'm not fan of skyfire - i use 3g network in poland on my diamond 2. skyfire is faster in full load times, but browser on nexus one feels faster, and better renders a page, i thing in this category nexus one is winner
I'm a fan of neither, but for these tests to be truly conclusive, we need to SEE the reviewer clearing the browser cache and ensuring a minimum of apps are running in the background.
Why does everyone need to know if one or the other is 1 second faster than the other one, is this going to make a big change in your life if your screen does not flip within a tenth of a second, come on get a grip.

I don't know, but HD2 is slower because it have windows mobile which is larger and more complicated than android, so that why is slow.
But if you can take, which one you choose ?
thanks for answers
Kilohercas 2 years ago
Windows Mobile isn't slow. The hardware it used to run on was slow. Still it is quite an old OS at heart and if you can't get around that, go Android. As for programs, Android has fun applications, WinMo has more business applications. For watching videos, I'm partially colourblind so the HD2 having less screen colours isn't an issue for me at all. HD2's screen is its winning factor for me...it's just astounding.

doesn't really matter they are both on Tmobile lol

lol..I heard T-Mobile service was shitty except for a few major cities...but damn i want one of those phones....at least the Nexus is going to Verizon in a few months.

Nexus One are the best phone no doubt.
HD2 can suck my hairy balls and Iphone can blow my huge veiny d*ck
zmarine33 2 years ago
Nexus One and HD2 are made by the same company (HTC) and are almost the same internal specs.
but they both murder the iPhone with speed and RAM.
tonygstring 2 years ago 3
I wish they would test on a page that doesn't have a thousand ads on it. Everyone knows that the ad servers can hang on requests and cause the progress bar to halt. However, the content is fully viewable and the page is usable.
scizzle42 2 years ago
The only reason it is faster is because it is loading a smaller part of the webpage opposed to the nexus one which loads the WHOLE page. That is why when you scroll down fast skyfire has to load...... Give me a break, no kit kat plz....

HTC HD2 I like

Both great devices.

MR9872 2 years ago
I really have to disagree. I love the iPhone but i have to say that Sense UI from HTC is a lot simpler, very customizable, and very user oriented.
xDannyhouston 2 years ago
Well, Sense UI is great, but I was tring to get at the iPhone OS is still the best over-all OS. It's a combination of eye-candy, productivity, and pure smartphone awesomeness.
Notice that in my previous comment I stated that the HTC Bravo will be my next phone. ;-)
MR9872 2 years ago
@MR9872 , lol well you can't multi task with the iPhone OS so I dunno about that productivity claim. The weather animations with the easy access to contacts, apps, web pages, and more right there on the homescreen without having to go through multiple aplications, plus the screen size itself is more eye-candy then the iPhone can handle. Though i must agree.... The iPhone is pretty awesome. but the US version HD2 now has 1gb ROM and 528mb Ram. Take that nexus one and iPhone hahaha!
xDannyhouston 2 years ago
incredible to see some Winmo supporters still exist!!!!
michaeltanyk 2 years ago
Nexus = Too little too late, the OS looks outdate, it tries to compeat with iphone but just cant, i dont have an iphone and im not a apple fan (will be getting the hd2 :)) but after 3 years the iphone OS is still the smoothes and fastets out there by responding time etc.

AMOLED screen takes the cake everytime
KevlarSix 2 years ago
Yea really wish that HD2 was OLED but the screen size is worth not having it lol.
xDannyhouston 2 years ago
Kind of pointless considering most of the rendering is being done server side for Skyfire whereas the N1 does it all client side.
bklepeis42 2 years ago
To those complaining about the Android UI, might I remind you that behind the Sense UI on the HD2 is an archaic UI ashamed to show itself? Let's not even go there. Oh, and as an iphone user, I really don't have a dog in this fight. :)
DarkenedTheater 2 years ago
The problem with WM is that it always needs to rely a third party app (skyfire) or UI (Sense UI) to pick up the slack. WM is bloated and buggy. As for Skyfire, what good is a browser if you always have to wait for the screen to be redrawn AFTER IT HAS ALREADY LOADED? Unfortunately, all that 1gz processor goodness is being heavily taxed and wasted on a WM device.
DarkenedTheater 2 years ago
who cares abuot screen rotation speed in this battle. thats not whats important when making the decision between the two phones
50kT 2 years ago
Wow you n4ps!
If you enable Wi-Fi 802.11n with a registry tweak you will only see the dust of the speed!
The HD2 is still a lot better & will soon be getting the WinMo 7 =)
Nexus One is pretty ugly & android doesn't appeal AT ALL. And don't get me started on the UI... gross
thesepeopleareidiots 2 years ago 2
xda developers have this new tweak that add rotation and pinch to zoom on every thing on the phone like Skyfire,TomTom Navigator, market place, pinch to zoom the calculator even the connection settings you can pinch to zoom it calls BsB Tweaks for the hd2 only
pedronensala 2 years ago
@thesepeopleareidiots
I totally agree with you, I like the HD2 a lot better, and Android is nice, but it doen't appeal to me either.
hummermaster56 2 years ago
I also concur with that statement. I have had an Android phone for quite some time now and as it has satisfied every want I could ever conjure for a phone, once i used Sense UI on the hero and seeing this interface on the HD2, I must say it simply just cannot be beaten.
xDannyhouston 2 years ago
Nexus one is better I think, altough skyfire loads the full page faster. The page only pops up at the last second. At the Nexus one, you can already read a little before the page is fully loaded.
roggelmagic 2 years ago 4
Skyfire is great...
krutchaz 2 years ago
HD2
faster+HUGE screen+HTC sense
i like it better than nexus just because of those three
AlexPeegs 2 years ago 2
Faster my ass, they both have the same processor and the HD2 has less ram than the N1, both are obviously about the same in speed if the N1 isn't faster. Skyfire doesn't load the whole webpage like the Android browser = checkerboard.
Big screen and sense is nice but android is better than winmo.
Son37Lumiere 2 years ago
Why not just use opera turbo instead of skyfire, since it too uses a server to render the pages. Also, Opera 10 beta 2 is faster than 9.7
Svegetto 2 years ago
Not the greatest Wifi network... my HD2 loads pages way faster on our wifi network.
danniethe123 2 years ago
Looked like the nexus one gave you access to the content faster than the hd2. still i would love to see the hd2 running android :)

does anybody know what american provider the HTC HD2 will be on? Are all these phones built with the SIM CARD option? i have at&t i want this phone.

hi all isnt the n1 better due to oled screen i currently have i8910 the screen on it is ultra fab should i upgrade to n1 or hd2 please help. i dont really want a ip3gs, also what about satnav on n1 thanks all
rdt1970 2 years ago
STFU seriously, both are great devices...
DaBunnyKiss 2 years ago
look point blank the hd2 is the best phone out, the only phone that can compare to the hd2 is the iphone.
b4 u comment i am a htc user since 05,and will continue to use htc(infact im leaving sprint for tmobile just so i can get an hd2) but lets face it the iphone HAD it limitations but we(all smartphones) have been emulating the iphone in some way, every since the iphone came out.
anywho
either u have an new iphone or an hd2(this spring) or u have nothing.
DUGLESSM 2 years ago
I use Opera Mobile as it performs fine for me, although the fact that you can watch BBC iPlayer and other Flash-based services on Skyfire is quite appealing.
The only thing with Skyfire is that it doesn't feel very user friendly. The scrolling/redraw 'issue' is fairly insignificant though I think...

kinda slanted.
the nexus loads the bulk of the page seconds before skyfire shows anything, which is more beneficial to me at least...
hrhnick 2 years ago
This test was cool...BUT. The Nexus One is the better device...that's just a browser...'Android' 4ever
mrjlwilliams 2 years ago
I prefer Opera Mini to Skyfire in pages without video or a flash because it is far better at scrolling than Skyfire, 'cos it dosen't work with images, it works with texts. And all the page is loaded once, not only when you scroll.
Server side compression makes loading faster but not a big advantage after loading finished. However, my mother says her phone with Opera Mini is faster than my desktop computer and it is really so. :D

skyfire isnt the fastest, it is usually the slowest for me
macbookpro57 2 years ago
Are you kidding?
You are comparing a real browser (nexus one) with a picture viewer.
Skyfire loads only the viewable part of the page using a proxy server that do all the rendering process and sends picture of the page. Thats why you can`t scroll the page downwards properly. If you force Skyfire to load the whole page, it will take alot of time and data.
okinox 2 years ago 4
@okinox actually skyfire is the REAL browser while the nexus one is compressed. skyfire SUPPORTS flash.
YOUCANNOTDENY 2 years ago
nexus one is superior! you also have to take in account of the flash the nexus one has to load up

yay!!! i have an hd2 and im not regretting that i didn't wait for the nexus

SKYFIRE KICKS ASS. Does the Nexus One use a Dolphin browser?
jagjagin 2 years ago
Are you using built in wi-fi or the networks internet connection because i don't think the nexus has 3G.
correct me if am wrong.
FTrain4750 2 years ago
@FTrain4750
HD2 uses Wi-Fi, I can see it by the icon (it also has no sim card inserted). So I guess the N1 uses Wi-Fi too.
The Nexus One can use 3G, but only on T-Mobile. AT&T uses a CDMA network for 3G, and the N1 is not compatible with CDMA.
Timo1731 2 years ago
If you are making a video using the fastest browser on WinMo... shouldn't you use the fastest one on Android? You know to make it fair?
zsmorr92 2 years ago 2
I would have liked to see at least ONE flash video running... why didn't you try that? It's a major feature for Skyfire on WM. I wanted to see how choppy it was...
KnightMD 2 years ago
He should use Opera on the Nexus One. I had Opera on my G1, and it's CRAZY fast (literally almost as fast as my computer browser).
tempchannel1 2 years ago 4
At least Nexus One displays the website to the user as it loads so the user has something to read and scroll.
arzo2000 2 years ago 3
i'm not fan of skyfire - i use 3g network in poland on my diamond 2. skyfire is faster in full load times, but browser on nexus one feels faster, and better renders a page, i thing in this category nexus one is winner
MacQ2309 2 years ago 2
wow . i didn't expect that .
is that the new skyfire 1.5 ?
google nexus just cant match the smoothness of HTC HD2 .
zenom88 2 years ago
I'm a fan of neither, but for these tests to be truly conclusive, we need to SEE the reviewer clearing the browser cache and ensuring a minimum of apps are running in the background.
Y'know, just keep any fanboys, from crying foul.
Gregz0r1 2 years ago
Skyfire it faster, but it's inconsiderably if it has problems randering the whole page.
