  • 3g Obviously needs a better tune.

  • First of all that's a non turbo 4cly eclipse also known as a 4g64. 2.4 vs a 350z come on 3.5 v6 vs 2.4 I'm surprise the eclipse is giving it a challenge.

  • The only time a 3g will be cool is with a 4g63t swap/build.

    And no, my truck is close to stock and makes way more power than a bolt-on 3g with a 6g72.

  • 4g63t 6g72 6g74 there all good engines and they all can be built up for high performance but some just have less power than others. i plan on doing some serious work on my 3g later on hell i might go a little further an go twin turbo

  • yeah i would have to agree with you on that. the 350z is nice but the 3g gt an gts models are better in my opinion. i own a 2003 eclipse gts and i want to boost it soo bad but you gotta pay alot to get a custom kit made but its 100% worth it =D

  • Not to mention the amount of work you have to do to build up the internals. The internals of the V6 3g are extremely weak. The 4cyl is much easier and cheaper to turbo and you can end up making it much faster for alot less money.

  • dude the only reason you say that is because you have probably never even boosted a 3g and you probably lost to one in a street race. i don't know where you got that info from but someone is lying there ass off

  • The stock 6g72 in a 3g can only handle about 10psi safely on stock block and internals, but the 4g64 can handle about 18psi safely on stock block and internals. The 4g64 is easier to work on, has more aftermarket potential(even though neither of them are as good as the 4g63T) and the 6g72 in the 3g is not nearly as good as the 4g64 or the 6g72 that was in the 300GT SL or VR4. Go to mitsubishi-forums . com and ask around. they'll tell you the same thing.

  • No it's not auto cause you can hear his blow-off valve. And autos don't have blow-off valves.

  • Why would you put a BOV on an auto? that's pointless. I don't think you can even put a BOV on an auto. And even if you could it would be pointless. The point of people turboing an automatic over a manual is so the turbo stays spooled since your foot is always on the gas. A BOV on an auto is pointless.

  • Sorry to say, but you're wrong. A BOV is still necessary to prevent compressor surge when they let off the throttle. An auto doesn't have to let off the throttle between gears, so the BOV will stay shut as if it wasn't there at all. When they're done accelerating, however, and let off the gas, the turbo will keep spinning and the pressure will need to find some way to escape

  • That's true. But in the case of me arguing with that guy was because he could hear it while he was racing the Z. and while he's flooring it you wouldn't be able to hear the BOV. only when he let off. I forgot about the fact that when they let off the boost has to find some way to escape.

  • the 350z's are 13 second cars... and three cars is like .1 of a second.. so i would say im still somwhere in the 13's.. but im sure i could raise the boost and tune it with some race gas, and throw a little 50 shot of nitrous on. pretty sure that would bump it up there.. but its still my daily, and just replaced the motor... dont want to mess it up again

  • The 2008 350z runs a best of 13.1 Completely Bone stock. With a few light bolt-ons and good drivers they run high 12s. I own a 2003 Z, so mine isn't that fast, but I do know what each year is capable of. I have pulled 2 cars on an 08 Z in my Scion tC (it's turboed).

  • Na, I wouldn't say that...hehe. Just been diligently working them towards my goals. The tC is untuned right now as I just dropped some 750cc injectors in (up from 550cc). I use to have it on 9 - 10 PSI and trapped 109mph in the 1/4mile. That was untuned also, so I'm looking to get a really good tune this time around on 12 PSI 93 oct. And 14 PSI 110 oct. The 14 PSI tune should be good for 380-400whp (dynojet).

  • damn, thats bad ass.. yea i had my car on 7lbs.. but now its on 15lbs.. wantint to put it on some race gas or meth injection on 20lbs with a small shot of spray.. dont know what to expect on the dyno tho...

  • Sweet dude, I can't wait for the race gas either. I've done some research on it the different octanes, and it's just crazy how much hp some cars pick up. Keep up the good work man, good luck with everything.
