@TheUnNerved Well actually this is called hillbilly music, you can tell because there's no base, and bluegrass came into the picture about 1947 and rounded out with the essentials such as guitar, mandolin, fiddle and base. Later the dobro worked it's way in there but that was Josh graves which was about 55 and then for country dobro at the time and even in the late 40's was Bashful Brother Oswald. Such a kind man, all of them, better times and better people.

@alanyoung2 That's where you'd be wrong. Hillbilly and bluegrass are one and the same all apart of the larger old-timey genre. It's all about location, all of the instruments are the same and the sounds are similar. Internet is your friend.

@TheUnNerved Sorry but you're wrong, hillbilly has no bass, you can hear the guitar strumming the bass line. Bill Monroe formed the first bluegrass band in 47, they went and played the Opry and there is a new genre. I've been playing for 16 years so i should know.
