Elvis + Gutiar + No other insturment or background singer= Pure Orginal Gold Elvis Presley...his first song was his best ever! RIP Elvis always and forever the King
i think so because it was recordet on an acetate record and if you listen to the voice i think Elvis wasnt ´that self asure that time he sound s a little bit uncertain
Ed Leek owner of the original 1953recording by Elvis Presley which includes "That's When Your Heartaches Begin", is presently seriously ill but facing up to his ailment with courage and optimism. He is 74.
Elvis' Mom was so lucky to have a son like Elvis. Tomorrow's my birthday..I'm going to pretend Elvis sang this song for me (I can dream, can't I?) :D *****
GREAT, GREAT By the GREAT ELVIS. Am sure that he got hooked on this song when he heard the great original by Jon & Sondra Steele back in or about 1947. If you haven't heard their rendition, get a copy and listen to it.
im reading a book called last train to memphis its about the early years of elvis and i just read a chapter in which he was reecording this song its a good book look it up
The flip side to "My Happiness" is actually, the 1953 version of "That's When Your Heartaches Begin". Not to be confused with the very beautiful later 1957 version on the flip side of "All Shook Up".
It was this song that made Sam Phillips think Elvis could be the greatest thing in history. Good vision Sam, brilliant vocals by a young Elvis.... HoodofLoxley
nope, as far as I know the B-side was "That's when your heartaches begin", which is posted on youtube as well. just heard it for the first time too. it was a direct recording onto the record, so there is no tape existing and these recordings come directly from that one very record.
Well as i know this Version was the Original Single for his mother (also Old shep in my knowledge on the same Single or i think 78 RPM)
Wickipedia:
On July 18, 1953, Presley went to the Memphis Recording Service at the Sun Record Company, now commonly known as Sun Studios. He paid $3.98 to record the first of two double-sided demo acetates, "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin." Presley reportedly gave the acetate to his mother as a much-belated extra birthday present,
When i was a little boy my mum always said i looked liked elvis when he was a child now im a 30 year old man my mum still thinks i look like elvis but as the 1968 leather elvis!!!
Yes an his first public performance was when he was 10 or 11 years old and he made a second place in that compatition...an o think the song was old shep that time
Sam Phillips called this recording The Mona Lisa of all recordings.

The unique 1953 acetate recording owned by Ed Leek, a Hume High school friend of Elvis is now up for sale.
Elvis gave Ed the 78rpm record shortly after he recorded it.
Few now believe it was for Gladys Presley's birthday.
For news and photos of Ed Leek and Marion Keisker concerning the sale search Irelandtoo on google.
