  • Hi!! can liquid foundations be used over these products or do they have to be powder?

  • Nice one...

  • (I know this is really late, but , @PaulaPipoka..I don't find this to be commercial at all. Koren is actually showing us how great these products are, not just telling us. BTW, I have tried these products and they are truly wonderful and I will be repurchasing.

  • this is a very cool tutorial i looove it thankss

  • No parabens, no bismuth oxochloride in their mineral foundations...! It looks so great - I have to try this brand out! Thanks for the detailed review, you totally convinced me! ;-)

  • How long is the Diamond Perfect Finish good for? expiry date??

    thanks

  • @fattyparis There is no expiration date on the Diamond Perfect Finish; it has an indefinate shelf life so long as you don't get it moist (which can harbor bacteria growth).

  • awesome concepts, cheers, have any of you tried Rimmel's latest product line? its hard to obtain make-up in Cornelius but i managed to obtain wonderful samples of make-up from 'Gratis Makeup Samples'! they're awesome!

  • @gustiepuryearak665 fuck off spammer!

  • nasty

  • Did you know that silk powder for acne prone skin can cause bacteria growth? So it is not good for your skin, Koren!

  • I was wondering if laura mercier tinted moisturizer will work well with the silk & pearl primer and the diamond perfect finish powder . Well the regular size of silk & pearl primer last long or should I get the jumbo size one. Thanks Enkore!

  • What if I use the Pearl & Silk powder as a veil right before I put my blush on and that's all? I don't have any scars or acne (just large pores) so I don't use foundation.

  • i brought the silk primer for oily skin and when i put it on during the day i still see my face getting oily around my nose. i dont know what to do ive tried to put more on my nose like i pile it on and it only helps a little. wat do you think i can do because over all it works pretty good

  • Have you tried the Oil Absorb? Put that on first, and only around your nose area, then follow with the primer on top and see if that helps.

  • OMG....I found my holy grave mineral foundation....I brought the sample size....and totally love it... love it....I would work 10 hours a day....and I didn't have to do touch up doing the day...I have combination skin...and it does really absorbs the oil on my face....I'm buying the full size later....Thanks for the wonderful review.....

  • Koren I can't resist buying anything you recommend. I am sending you my credit card bill!!:))

  • I have a silk primer from Aromaleigh and never thought to use it before my foundation. Thanks Koren!

  • there's no FTC disclosure here.. does this mean you were paid to make this video?

    :S

  • US Bloggers/etc are only legally obliged to disclose if they're given a product to review for free. Presumeably if he doesn't say it's free, that means he paid for it.

  • @AnastasiaTalen

ah, thanks for clearing that up.

  • @haveHEARTT btw: The FTC disclosure began in December 09. This video was uploaded in September 09.

  • @haveHEARTT

no because this vid was made way before december 31st so he doesnt hafta have 1

  • Just a stupid little thing *rofl* the Thumpnail from that Video is sooooo CUTE *gg* ... Produkt looks nicely ... for the Job it does the Price is ok *Ithink* maybe I´m gooing to try that when I run out of the One im using curently ...

  • Thanks so much for this review! I recently picked up some sample sizes from Purely Cosmetics based on your recommendation and I love them!! The Oil Absorb is works really great for me, so happy you brought it to our attention. :)

  • @vibingv Where can you buy purely cosmetics other than online? Departmental stores in US?

  • I ordered mine online. Sorry if my wording was misleading. :)

  • ОМГ Пидорг!

  • is the oil absorb something you could layer between a cream type primer and liquid foundation? i have big pores and acne scars so i need a lot of coverage and my skin is still super oily... or would this powder primer be something that could go under liquid foundation. and that "buffer" brush looks synthetic? is it just a flat top kabuki type or??? anyone with any input of these matters i would really appreciate

  • Catchblonde - if I were you, I'd wear it beneath the cream primer, and yes, beneath the liquid foundation. You may find with it (used in conjunction with the Silk & Pearl Powder Primer) that you don't need a cream primer. Less to clog those pores!

The brush that Koren is using in the vid (if it's the one I think it is) is a synthetic flat top foundation brush. Personally, I prefer natural hair ones, as I feel the trap and release powder better, but it's all personal preference. HTH. Robyn

  • thanks! appreciate the help!

  • loooks good what about shades 4 black people, canwe wear it?

  • wow!!! thank you for the review. you must have a science background. i'm going to check this out. thanks!!!!

  • I ordered last Friday and received the package yesterday, from California to Switzerland. WOW! I am really impressed by the products and the service. Thank you and of course Robyn, you made my day :-)

  • my pearl and silk powder sample just came and it WORKS. u guys have to try it! it filled my acne pic scars so well and it's natural too. im going to order the actual size now. thank you koren. i've finally found somehting that work for my icky skin

  • Impressive. Usually I can never see a change when someone films themself trying an oil absorption product, but Purely Cosmetics is impressive! I could see an immediate change, especially with the Diamond Perfect Finish. I agree, that stuff looks amazing.

  • Omg that diamond stuff made you look like 10 years younger!!!!

  • Am I the only one that eats kaolin toasted? :}

  • Thank you for taking the time to make this honest review..I really want to try these products - they look amazing. Love your channel. YOU ARE AWESOME!!

  • Love love love the Alton Brown comment in the side bar.

  • I love the Alton Brown reference!

  • Koren, PLEASE give us a review on the regular purely cosmtetics mineral foundation!!!

  • OMG You made me laugh at 11:11 lol! so funny how exited you got. i <3 you koren!

  • I miss those times when you were less commercial.

  • i like your reviews because you actually use the product/s while you're talking and we get to see the effects

  • I checked out this website and boy shipping on this site even for samples is not cheap that would be the only deterent from trying out something from this site its not all budget friendly in my opinion but based on the demonstrations very nice products

  • Yes shipping came out to be $12+ just for a sample of the oil absorb.

  • Great video Koren! Do you like the 'normal' foundation from Purely Cosmetics as well? It all sounds very interesting!

  • WOW Koren...you're skin is realy amazing.

I whas watching you,and after using the products...wow!!!

    I love them,even i haven't try them (yet)

    Thanks sweet Koren. xoxoxox

  • I just ordered my products Thursday and received them today! All I can say is amazing customer service with really fast shipping! I cannot wait to wake up in the morning and try all of my new makeup! I will leave reviews after I have tried out the products... admittedly I bought quite a few things! I couldn't resist :)

  • thanks! I'm gonna buy the sample sizes! I have oily skin. cant' wait to try it!

  • These were amazing products! Wow..I was so impressed. Your skin looked great.

I wish there was something that wonderful for people with combination skin, more so dry though.

    You're adorable Koren!

  • There is. The Silk & Pearl Powder Primer comes in both Normal-Dry and Normal-Oily versions. If you have combination skin, you'd prefer the Normal-Dry. The Silk Powder will pull moisture from the air to hydrate your skin while also absorbing excess oils. The Diamond Perfect Finish is for all skin types. Foundations can be ordered with added silk, again, perfect for combination skin!

  • can the oil bloker be used in conjunction with air brush make up. How can i make my own airbrush makeup using the mineral make i own.

  • ahah you did go alton brown... LOVE IT

  • I'm highly concerned about the amount of silica in make up. There are very high hazards relating to silica. Google silicosis...:/

  • The amount of silica used in my products is generally <5% (depending on product). Silicosis is geared towards those who work in a factory/mfg setting; those who are breathing silica dust all day. It generally doesn't apply to those who use it once a day applying makeup. Moreover, it's blended in this products w/heavier &/or stickier ingr (bentonite clay, pearl powder), so there isn't any flyaway like MUFE's HD. Those w/respiratory problems shouldn't have issues w/the amount of silica used.

  • Tks for info your product & how it interacts with other ingrients. I really do not like MUFE HD-it's 100% finely grd silica. Rsptfuly disagree-that you only get silicosis from being in a factory or mfg setting. I personally know ppl who have silicosis & didnt work in a factory/mfg outfit. Its the threshold effect of your body & its different for everyone. How many ppl have smoked & r ok, the next person smokes a pk of cgretts & gets cancer. Just want ppl to be aware & make a personal choice.

  • I agree. Which is why I said "generally". It's kinda like hypo-allergenic. NOTHING is 100% hypo-allergenic to all people! :)

  • Wow....why would i want to use it UNDER my foundation. I am black but I am very light-skinned. Maybe they should try making a tinted version.

  • I find that when i use mineral makeup it tends to makle the texture of my skin course and rough looking...accentuating every fine line...and it also makes my pores look more prominent. I want to hide my pores without looking cakey, I want my skin to look smooth and airbrushed...but so far I haven't found a mineral makeupt that does this. Has anyone had the problems I've mentioned when using purely cosmetics? I am so hesitant to buy yet another mneral makeup just to be disappointed...and poorer.

  • do you use a primer? those help a TONNN

  • I have never used a primer with the mineral makeup. It just seems that the liquid primers that I have...Urban decay and Bare escentuals ..are kind of greasy feeling. So it seemed like putting "powder" over that kind of base would turn out cakey. But...I am going to try it this weekend when I don't have to go out in public..lol. We'll see what happens.

  • I totally agree with you. I thought mineral products would be awesome for me as I have very oily skin, but by the end of the day I just have oil, with powder sitting on top and it turns all streaky :(

  • yes, you would think it would work great on oily skin. My skin is more on the dry side...so it tends to make it look flaky and rough. Maybe the oil absorb product would help you. It did seem to mattify Koren's face. I just wonder what it looks like up close.

  • I love how you went Alton Brown into the makeup! I find it very informative! Thank you Koren!

  • How bout a nice EnKore discount for your loyal subscribers? Eh? Eh?

    :)

  • thank you Koren :)

  • I want the intro music back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As always....a wonderful review. I have a very oily T-zone and I think the Oil Absorb would be an awesome product for me. Thanks, so much, Koren!!

  • wow! you just gave the creator of purely cosmetics a whole lot of business with this video!!

  • Love this. Could you do a video more in depth on HD makeup plz. You are so smart in this stuff, I love how technical you get with makeup. And i miss the intro music.

  • Wow, I haven't seen you this excited about something in a long time! :)

  • I have a sample of the primer... Personally I don't think it's all that... It seems to make imperfections stand out too much than if I didn't use the primer. I don't know, I'll keep using up my sample and see if I notice anything different. The diamond perfect powder though... IS amazing! I used to use it as a finishing powder but it did in fact make me look whiter (I'm medium/olive), but still amazing. And so is their skin smoothing foundations. =)

  • Wow, I want to try it! Their eye products look wonderful as well. I think I'm in trouble.

  • This product looks great and its pretty inexpensive!! Thanks

  • koren what happen with the music

  • Your skin is dark? LOL

  • I'M SO GETTING these for Christmas presents to pamper myself!

  • I love Alton Brown. That's for introducing us to a new brand, Koren!!

  • you are so cool. SERIOUSLY!!! C:

  • what kind of camera did you use for this video??? it's GREAT QUALITY!

  • You're amazing! I love all your videos :)

  • These products look fabulous. :D

I'm just wondering, with four layers of powder (oil absorb, primer, diamond perfect + foundation) do the final results ever look 'powdery'?

    Thanks!

  • i actually bought all 4 in full size: the primer, oil absorb, foundation and diamond perfect.

initially when i purchased the sample sizes it looked flawless on my skin with all 4 layers.

But since I purchased it in full size it looked powdery when I used all 4. I don't know if it's bcuz the jar is bigger & that i'm picking up more product..but now i use it w/o oil absorb in my regime, it makes my skin too dry.. only use for touch up for the shine. I have super oily skin..hope this help

  • It definitely does, thank you jjjjjackie. :]

  • WHOAH they look like great products!

Can you use these powders with liquid foundation? Or do you have to keep mineral with mineral?

  • wow i never seen mineral make up with polymethylsilsesquioxane aka microsilicone spheres before. this stuff is amazing, it's only a size of 6 micron (compared to microsilica 12 micron) therefore it feels so smooth on the skin.

  • These products look AMAZING on your skin!!! I will have to check out this site!!!

  • pretty cool

  • i just placed my order.. this is GREAT that they have sample size to try out first .. LOVE IT!!

  • omg i so love what those product did to your skin! i love it! can;t wait to get myself some! thanks for introducing such greart affordable products!

  • Will I be able to use the diamond perfect finish on bare skin without foundation or powders over it?

  • whoa~ look so good! I'm tempting to buy it!!!

    nice review! I love u enkore!!!!! =D

  • "one mean oil fighting machine".. hahaha i like that..

  • For you ladies out there with oily skin, drink spearmint or peppermint tea, 1-3 cups a day! They are anti- androgenic and lowers free testosterone (so not good for you men out there), so it lowers oil production (seriously like 70% in 2 weeks for me) and its also good for women who have hirsutism...good luck!

  • thank you for your info......:P

  • I bet drinking all that mint tea makes your breath smell better too, huh? :) Which tea brand do you recommend?

  • I haven't paid attention to the differences in brand so much. For peppermint, I get whatever is available at the store, but for spearmint tea I have to get it online since I can't find any in the store...at iherb (dot) com. The brand I get is "Now Foods". I hope that helps!

  • your reviews are THE greatest!!! honestly, if you say it's good...I go and buy it!

    xoxoxo

    salamat~

  • Hi Koren. You're absolutely adorable; it's impossible not to love you! Your enthusiasm for these products is palpable throught the video!

Very happy to hear that they make the Silk & Pearl Primer in normal-to-dry. I think I'll give it a whirl!

  • Calcium Carbonate that is the main ingredient in Tums as well...interesting the uses for it

  • you went and sold me. I have to try this. I'm going to get that diamond perfect finish but I'll have to use it as a primer for my foundation since I'm darker skin toned.

  • you glowed today

very lovely, you're got me interested in the diamond perfect finish now :D

  • OH MA GA!!!! I say that all the time!! you crack me up Koren, love you!!

  • I have a question. I have acne prone skin and my skin is super oily. Now I have many pimples and scars. I also have large pores due to the oil. I have mineral foundations and i am wondering if the powder clogs the pores. What do you think? I know mineral foundations are much better for skin. But since it is very finely milled I think it also sinks into the pores. How do you cleans mineral makeups? Is it easier than removing liquid foundations? o

  • I am a religious liquid foundation lover. But i decided to let my skin breathe and purchased this stuff (mineral makeup). I find the Diamond perfect finish wayyy better than the MUFE HD powder. I love the MUFE powder but it sinks into my pores like crazy. The diamond powder doesnt for some reason.

Btw I also have super oily skin and break out occasionally.

  • Just ordered my samples :) This stuff looks amazing. Thanks so much!

  • love it!

  • i love the positive look on your face, it makes me happy :) and lol@alton brown, ur just amazing and i appreciate how you actually explain why we should use the compounds in the products :)

  • Love, love, love you! Your energy simply radiates! Thank you!

  • You have such a good positive energy. Love your videos ! :)

  • hi koren thanks so much for this, also safe to use to eye lids right?

  • You're awesome Koren!

I swear you always strike me as someone who really needs a hug. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Either way I hope you are getting plenty, because you are amazing!!!

  • Oooh, now I know what I want for my birthday & Christmas... I must try this

  • when i saw the website and checked the price on these things i was blown away by the price!! it's sooo cheap =)

  • You are awesome! Thanks for this review! I'll try it.

  • Great Vid, Very Infomative...

  • thats GORGEOUS koren!

  • lol I had the same question as PriscillaHuffman (about using this with other foundations) and I think it's awesome tht u actually answered the question =) not everyone actually answers questions.

  • This all sounds great enkore, however all of those ingredients are not necessary to get the same final end result. Bentonite is mostly used for healing, acne, sores, etc, it draws it out, I do not find int necessary at all. Too much can be too much for many skin types

  • you aree amazingg at explaining. i love how you list all the materials and their benefits. Im most definitelyy gonna buyy this(=

  • 8:47 lol, you're so cute!! Great review!!!

  • LOOOL you're halarious!!! OH MA GAWD!

  • @babyguurlxoxo

thats a really rash comment, because people can't help if they have extremely oily skin? i cant help it if i have acne due to hormones. it just happens, acne scars are very hard to get rid of... and at the start its oily because at 3minutes in he is demonstrating how mattifying it is, and after 3 minutes onwards his skin isnt "gross looking" ....

  • really?you dhouldve kept that to yourdelf!

  • babyguurlxoxo.

You should know everyones skin is different and actually his skin is not gross looking at all. It actually look like its well taken care of. He just has really oily skin.

  • OMG i have such oily skin im gonna try these thanks ssoo much koren <3

  • OoOoOo i like how that product just absorb the oil right off and those product that you use as your tutorial. I will check their product out too. Thanks Enkore!

  • Octinoxate... sorry I spelled it wrong below.

  • Koren you are so great in explaining products and their ingredients. I learned from one of your tutorials about Occinoxate(I think that's how you spell it). I was getting head aches and realized it was from the product. It had 2 times the allowed amount. Thank you so much for all you do! BTW how was NY Fashion week?

  • koren why dont you make more tutorials with your own products,do makeup for some girls that would be nice :)

  • hey Koren. i love when you tell us about how things work. i find it interesting. i checked out their website and i was amazed at how reasonably priced their products are. based on your review, i think i'm going to check them out. thanks for sharing.

  • i love how he goes like 'hey everyone welcome baaack' =D ive noticed he does that in all vids in the same voice. ahaha

  • I love good eats and AB! This was great, thanks Koren! :D

  • 5*****Estrelinhas para vc!!!

  • I loooooove your videos Koren!!!!!

  • wow that atuff looks good.

  • How do you know all that things about ingredients and skin? I'd like to study them too!

  • hey Angie -that kinda almost go in tandem with being an MUA and or skincare spec -very important to know whats in the products. A client can be allergic or sensitive to one and MUA needs to know which products not to use etc.

  • hMM THAT DIAMOND STUFF LOOKS GOOD

  • hey koren one question..can i use this products..and then use the regular mac foundation and powder and then the finish powder? or i have to use everthing mineral in order to use this kind of products?

  • hey Pris - yeah you can use other brands with it. And doesnt have to be just mineral makeup

  • they got sample kits for $12

  • I went to the website and found WAY too many things I want to try! They have a great section where you can buy starter packs and samples. I bought the "Best of everything" starter pack which is $85 & you get 6 full-size products (foundations, blush, setting powders, oil absorbers, eyeshadow, diamond perfect) plus 6 brushes! I priced it out and it originally would have been around $156. Really good deal! Then I got a 3-sample pack and chose concealer, silk & pearl primer, & a foundation for $12

  • that oil control powder looks AMAZING!! i'll be getting that for a gift for a friend =)

    you're adorable!! hahaha ^^ you're so happy!

  • You have such a beautiful smile!!

  • I love you Enkore! Thank you sooo much for sharing! :)

  • OMG! I want it all!!!

  • Fantastic! I love it!

    L0veableLinda

It's probably (Possibly) because they use the offcuts and scraps from jewellers - well I would- there'd be no point wasting it!!!

  • wow amazing would this work for cream foundation too?

  • one carat of crush diamond and it sells for 17.50? i wonder how that works...

  • i'm guessing it's milled from tiny diamonds that are too small for jewelry purposes. but you're still right...$17.50? hmm...

  • My guess is when the jewelers are cutting and polishing the diamonds the powder left behind ( think saw dust) then gets sold and marketed for various purposes!

  • that sounds reasonable enough, thanks! :)

  • omg!!!! This would be perfect with my wedding makeup?????

  • im getting all of that lol

  • Great review! Looks like a helpful product line - good quality.

  • I think I need to check out the Oil Absorb! I have oily skin just like Koren's!

  • What do you think about the eyeshadows?

  • wow this looks amazing! i wonder how it works with dry skin

  • do you have to use the primer with a mineral foundation or would it work with any foundation like a liquid?

  • t
