  • Brett is so fucking hot it makes me want to puke and kill people and pull my hair out

  • To English musicians:

The world has been waiting way too long for another great band from the island, after you spoiled us with more than 30 years of amazing music.

Wake the fuck up and deliver some masterpieces asap!

  • amo muitoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I thought Suede were a great live band. There is studio trickery here - not much (the bass and drums sound live) but you can definitely hear some double tracking of the guitar for the solo. Having said that - that's far less than we get nowadays. A regular Coldplay and U2 show has plenty that's not happening on the stage.

  • @porlie23 Nope, that's just Bernard Butler rocking the fuck out.

  • @porlie23 definitely no double-tracking, there's some sort of 90s heavy stereo-flanger thickening it up but pretty sure it's all one guitar!

  • fuck yeahhhhhh

  • what a live!

  • When I first heard this song at 15, I fell in love with it. It's intro was as if Hendrix came back from the dead. If I ever did acid at the time, I might have done it to this song.

  • I was there. In Brixton Academy. Studied in London at the time. Too good for words.

  • bernard wrote this song

  • the best part of suede was when bernard butler was in the band, at least in the part of the guitar

  • Fuck! That was amazing! :O

Shallow side-note: OMG, Brett Anderson is gorgeous here. Unf, so hot.

  • great song, but does anyone else think that the vocals are a little too close to the studio version? odd because the guitar is live...

  • @TheFatspud

I was thinking exactly the same thought......in certain places I could hear a slight difference.... but it was virtually the same? That's pretty impossible when you think about it.... also the guitar shots during the end were obviously not what he was playing but they might have just edited it out of sync ??

  • @TheFatspud suede played their songs lives and crafted them for ages before they were recorded. The songs evolved live, that's why his vocals are close to the record........also...he's a good singer....and it's not THAT close to the record. Add in some post production for the video and you can see why it sounds that way.

  • Bernard Butler for God's sake. Holy shit what a guitar player!

  • great tune. these boys should have stuck with ricky gervais : )

  • Umm, Suede are my favourite band and I come from the same town as Brett Anderson and Mat Osman. So I feel quite proud. Also they did awesome tunes.

  • sounds like the studio version....GOD im 35!!!!

  • I think I may have to go home to watch Love & Poison.

  • I think I may have to go home to watch Love & Poison.

  • 4 people don't have ears...

  • fuck yeah suede

  • just listened to them because they are coming to Southside festival in Germany this year, and I'm going to go there, and i find that this band makes very good music ;)

  • christ that is so good

  • unknown pleasure s were mine

  • It's videos like this that make me wish I'd been born 20 years earlier.

  • Suede has always been praised as one of the pioneering bands of Brit-pop, but I don't see anything that connects them with pop, and sadly, they are probably the last band that deserved the adjective Brit. Once the term British Band stood for innovative, ballsy, psychedelic, raw, artistic, but sadly, British music has gone in some weird, strange direction in the past 15 years.

    Suede was fucking brilliant.

  • @SelfRapist in the past 15 years? u sure? aphex twin ? radiohead? Porcupine tree? heck... O.o...

  • This is the band David Bowie would have had in the 90`s

  • bretts voice is amazing here!!!!!!

  • he is beautiful!

  • Bernard and Mat move so very well together...Love this band!!!!!!!! They were hot , hot, hot....Great material always!

  • can never understand why people thought oasis>suede

  • @frankgallagher5 come again?

  • the solo sounds like it was put over the top after

  • @earthstick It probably was - Bernard admits himself he always made a pig's ear of it live.....!

  • @earthstick It probably was - Bernard admits himself he always made a pig's ear of it live.....!

  • I keep going back to :48 I want to make love to that guitar O.O...

  • fckin best tune in universe!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • A young Brett Anderson looks to me like Jenny Agutter....who to me is the most beautiful, sensuous woman...I'm confused

  • @Condellification your right he does!

  • @Condellification well he certainly had a very androginous look here! But hay the voice is incredible, at hid very best probably

  • Comment removed

  • I remember seeing him live that year... His energy is usually sooo much higher than it was in this performance. ALWAYS!!! He was full of energy. Brett's talent is neverending too.

  • I Want Gte Back My Animal

  • Davey Havok from AFI kinda sings and looks like Brett, just saying, don't bash me.

  • best brett ever.

best hair, best shirt, best dancing.

i always wished i could have been at this exact concert.

i remember this video being played on mtv in the 90s and i loved it and it still has the same effect on me today. LOVE

  • @Desutoroyalove I was there and it was brilliant. In top 3 gigs i have ever been to.

  • wat e Leckerchen

  • the mic seems like to be an extension of brett's body when he is moving xD

  • The fondest of fond memories.

  • Brett Brett Brett Brett Brett Brett I LOVE YOU. Words can not even describe how beautiful he is. Or was, rather. He aged pretty fast after coming up and stopped being even cute. But he used to just be WOW. WOW WOW WOW. I think I'm going to faint

  • nice voice for a gal. so pretty and talented.

  • i'm so addicted to it!! brett anderson is way too talented

  • how the helldid they combine this group to the smiths ?????????

  • One of the songs of THE CENTURY!!!!

  • I really would like to see them again. I always watch the vidéo love & poison. Can we find on DVD ?

  • they sing about drug i like also..

  • the guitarplayer's tecnique is amazing, gives a lot of edge to Suede's sound

  • haha this guy almost turned me gay back then when I was 15 and saw this for the first time on (M)TV

  • ahhhhhh!! Brett!!! lo amiiii!!!!!!!!

  • Times do file! Compare to the Royal Albert Hall performance, it's 17 years!

  • i miss suede :(

  • amazing guitar.

  • Brett is...don't know how to put it...uber beautiful, And what a legendary song

  • What a fucking performance! ARGHHH!

  • Brett = Sex on a stick!!!!! WOW

  • what turns you on??????'

  • suede

  • Wot a voice fucking legend!!!!!

  • loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Is it true that "coming up" era suede are reforming? Excellent news if so

  • Yeah it is true, in March, but only for one night. If I can't be there I may kill myself.

  • i so wish i was at this gig...it looks amazing! sadly i was only 1 year old in reality when it happened!

  • Go on Bernard! Superb guitar playing! Superb band shame they are no longer a unit sadly missed by many.

  • @spartan2549 Coachella! Yes!!

  • superb band, sadly missed.

  • an addictive song

  • Butlet left coz him and anderson clashed over the second album and how anderson was conducting himself in the public eye....so i read anyway

  • look all that crowd!! this performance is sick as sh!t !!

  • Ego's Shock, as always!!!

  • I always though he looked like Jenny Agutter. Georgeous!!!! hahahahahh!!

  • why oh why did Butler have to leave?

  • Bernard butler is the man..!!

  • Totally! The guitar work got so simplistic on coming up and head music...it was like tony iommi playing britpop or some shit

  • @jakeehook Nonsense. If you knew how to play the guitar stuff on Coming up (and I know you can't because of your comment) you'd realise that the guitar work on Coming Up is amongst some of the most sophisticated guitar work ever heard from an indie band in the 90's and it easily stands up to Butler's work. Suede mk 2 never worked beyond Coming Up because Anderson cleaned up his habit and lost his mojo. Oakes was as good as, if not a better guitarist than Butler.

  • @greedo1980 to be fair the guy has a point, after Butler left Suede's creativity was minimal, their music did have flaws, esp Head Music, tracks like Trash and Saturday Night remain classics in my opinion but the original Suede were definiteley the most creative. I play guitar myself and i'm also Suede's main contributor to wikipedia, having worked on Suede related articles for the past six months. Though in terms of guitar playing, nothing beats New Generation, We Are the Pigs or Asphalt World.

  • bernard butler is the man..!!

  • Brett era muito louco...

  • third row iwas there baby xx

  • bernard butler is too good on guitar...

  • The best period of Suede.

    Fckn amazing....everything:guitar,vocals......everything.

  • It's a shame that the only full length concert video from this era is marred by really shit camera work and editing. Keep the fucking camera still so we can see what the fuck is going on.

  • heh, have you ever tried to waatch Cream farewell concert? the camera editing makes me dizzy...

  • ownage

  • He´s bisexual

  • is he really?

  • Hes also into androygne...

  • yeah, i like it. Greetings from Poland

  • bei tempi...

  • Suede brought something into music that grunge ignored and pop whitewashed...SEX!

  • well said!

  • @fuckscum - hundred percent - they were awesome...love how they all move together when they played...I also love them with Richard as well...just great!

  • Great song!!!!\

  • I'll take these dudes to Oasis anytime.

They even play a better Oasis type solo at the end

  • Noel Gallagher once partly-admitted that Wonderwall was their attempt to do a song as much of an 'anthem' as this one.

  • well look at that. how bout radiohead's The national anthem? do you knoe the story behind that one?

  • Nope. I'm really not into Radiohead.

  • what's the story behind national anthem?

  • i dunno i can never find it

  • NOW YOUR ANIMAL'S GONE!!!

  • brett should get back on smack. his lyrics have gone to shit since cleaning up

  • amen

  • I bought So Young single in Derby at Uni & thought 'wow that's something special...'

  • i listen to this song 50 times every day...i fucking stuck with suede and with animal nitrate...90's for ever

  • Totally agree, placebo150. I haven't been able to get this song out of my head for years now

  • Bernards guitarin' here is staggering!

  • The outro to this song is maybe my favourite piece of guitar ever.

  • rock n roll, yessssssss

  • Bret is such a chick in this performance... gotta love it!

  • The song which made me fall in love by Suede, late back in '93

    Thks Suede, love You!

  • Bloody great performance.

  • I heard a live version of this song from another channel omg I nearly died of shock, it was awful, this one much better

  • Hearing this live version, it's pretty obvious - out of Butler and Anderson - which one was the real soul of Suede. There is relevance in the fact that I wrote Butler's name first here. Stellar performance from one of the best guitarist of the 90s.

  • I agree completely. There was a sense of danger in the sounds of Bernard's guitar, how it sounded really dirty and gritty (almost reminding me of urban London somehow!) but not necessarily in a grungy way, kind of makes me think of the way the doors music may have sounded in the 60s. I think this is definitely suede at its best; dark, rebellious, raw, powerful and mysterious, when I saw them in the coming up tour they were more like an accomplished boy band!

  • Perfect live !!! Bravo Brett

  • love forever suede... suede ... love bret, is magnifique

  • forget oasis . this was the start of britpop

  • Love it.

  • great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful, wonderful.

  • i love suede

  • Is that really live? The vocals are perfect.

  • I think you are right - may have been overdubbed. He is a good vocalist, but everything is too identical to the recording, I reckon.

  • It's not overdubbed, they are that good. Total professionals, and that's why they are still around today, but obviously not in Suede.

  • No, almost certainly everything on 'Love & Poison' is overdubbed. I realised this about 'So Young' when I first saw the VHS in 1993. There's no reason to assume they only did it with that song (and yes, I reckon the overdubs are mostly of vocals).

  • watch the 'introducing the band' dvd, the sound on the live show sounds pretty much the same. I also have soundboard-quality bootlegs of them at Blackpool in 94 and Toronto in 95. If anything, the guitars here have been overdubbed slightly, but the vocals have hardly been touched, if at all.

  • i cannot find animal lover anywhere on youtube... like they never performed it live.... :((((

  • Батлер просто, черт возьми, восхитителен.

  • Fantastic Video, thanks for posting!!!.

  • Great video with Bernard Butler on board,,,
