But I am SOOOO pissed off right now!! I have a Mac and have Windows 7 running in Virtualbox, but it is so ridiculously complicated and tedious to get Warcraft 2 running. Seriously. All I want to do is play Warcraft 2!!
It has just made me hate Windows with even more of a burning passion! >><<<
Awesome I was wondering about Direct X games I knew Open GL games worked, no I can stick with just ubuntu and use windows as a virtual machine, thanks!
ok need your help. i followed your guild and it works dxdiag tests the 3d for directx 8/9 and they both run very smooth. but when i go to play a game like bf2 it opens and i get a black screen then closes and thats it... i have windows xp pro sp3 running in virtualbox 3.2.0 in ubuntu 8.10, 3d is on in the setting i have directx9.c installed and flashplayer installed. also windows has 123 mb video ram and 600mb normal ram.
I'm glad SUN picked up the ball that Virtual PC dropped it... or better yet, sold it out. Before MS bought VPC and VooDoo went under, D3D and open GT were already fully supported in Virtual PC version 1.3 I think it was. This is majorly suppressed technology that's been around for over a decade. Sun had to build this from the ground up all while dodging MS and DX legal barriers. Bravo to them for getting it done.

@omgharajuku You hate Windows because you're having problems running it on a VIRTUAL machine? That's not very fair.

Since VirtualBox as well as Parallels uses WineD3D for DirectX support, it is much better to run these games in Wine instead of virtual machine.
