  • This is the girl who sings just for me, when I'm breaking up, when I'm crackin' up, when I'm messin' up. Every word is felt, meant and sent straight to the heart by her elegant, unmannered style—she is the artist for all current singers to reckon with—and she is always there when I need to work it out, better than going to a therapist or a minister, I can tell you that! Luv me some Nancy.

  • 1963 Fort Meade,Maryland,my first time listening to that fantastic voice, fell in love with her then and there and now,Nancy you are the greatest.

  • The best rendition of this classic. I love it !

  • Sing it to me baby! You dont have to beg me to stay........I aint going nowhere. MAN!! Thats good stuff.

  • oh this feels like a nice glass of wine. so silky and smooth ( thats sound more like congac) but still this is beautiful

  • Can anyone ever get enough of Nancy Wilson?? I don't think so!!! Her range and vocal control is legendary. Some of these young girl artists should sit down and take notes from a true master! For Real!!!!

  • Untouchable!!!! Words can not describe her talent , class and style. Love it !!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Now, why do the black singers of today think they can top this with their non talent? I would rather listen to all the black singers of yesteryear

than any of them today..cannot even understand one word they are spewing..Please..I am not prejudice just know great talent when I have heard it!

  • What a beautiful voice! I could listen to her forever and never get tired. This song has me thinking of someone who is young but yet so mature for his age. Talented and rather handsome but does not know it. It made me think of him and his messages. Love it!

  • total pro,,makes it look so easy... love her

  • Wow. Looking for this version since '99. Heard it in a cafe in Brussels at the base of the Atomium. Wow. Can't believe you gave it to me. THANK YOU.

  • Well actually they DO have singers like this today, they just aren't the 1s in the forefront, getting the deals & the media exposure. This is a period of shallow music mostly. They come, they go. This is a really bad 1 though in the 21st century. If 'baby' baby, baby, oooh, yeah, oh ah, my baby baby baby ..' type of crap done with 'auto-tune' & a silly hiphop hook can be considered a song, a good song even, we're in TROUBLE!

  • @TheKoolkanadian the key to judging music is to shut off the video manipulation. if its still good - it most likely is. let your ears listen without video bombardment; thats when music quality changed. whole senses involvement with music isnt all wrong however, as in a well produced movie- but even there music has too often become cheap filler in movies that are little more than a bunch of music vids strung together.

  • @blog. they don't have singers like this today because the singer's today aren't made to sing, it's all studio. Nancy is a bad a** girl!

  • :)

  • I hate to say it, but the singers of today only can WISH that they could do so much with a voice. They need back-up singers, dancers, pyro-technology and still I cannot imagine their music becoming long-lasting classics. But I don't worry. We have enough good entertainers in our arsenal to keep us lol. Love this songbird/stylist. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is not funky.... it's fresh and clean!

  • straight tight

  • STUNNING!!!

  • really nice.

  • Such a beautiful voice. I just discovered Nancy Wilson today. Thank you. :)

  • Best version of a classic by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.

SOOO much better than Donny Osmond and even better than Steve Lawrence's definitive version

  • my favourite part is at 2:02... I love her voice so much. So passionate and smooth. What a gift =)

  • I love me some Nancy Wilson but if you think this has class, listen to Marlena Shaw's rendition which was done in 1977. She knocked it clear out of the park.

  • @mombasakul

Shaw took it from Jazz/Pop to a kind of RNB FUNK. Loving both.

  • BlogShag..cause no one can sit still long enough to enjoy the realness...

    grifitti..she was that years Beyonce..what a gem.

  • I love me some Nancy Wilson...such a classy lady. Is it just my imagination this photo of Nancy...looks like Beyonce without makeup

  • Yes...Nancy Wilson....If you grew up in the 60's....You had to know Nancy Wilson.....if you knew anything about music....It means a lot if you know her today......Love me some Nancy Wilson!!!!

  • How come they don't have singers like this today?

  • @BlogShag -Different values today.Screamers and speedsters rule.

  • @BlogShag they do, but they will put most artist out of business so they shelf them... Music of today is design to water down the minds of the future generation so that they are not capable of thinking for them selves... Each person in the industry servers a purpose...

  • @BlogShag - today's artiste' are unaware of MUSICAL history.... style... grace...

  • Can anyone tell me which of nancy's albums this is from? I love hearing her sing Goffin/King! Did she do any more contemporary brill building material in that era? I like it almost as much as the jazz standards.

  • Ah yes...after I made the video I had second thoughts about the use of the first picture as it does not at all correspond to the tenderness of this song. I decided to stick with it however...certainly, it's what the ears are hearing that is most important :)
