This cover is really good. If you like this version click on Three Dog Night's version. It was done before Elton John recorded his version. They made a monster hit out of it before Elton did even though he wrote the thing!!
Harry Connick Jr. not only sings & plays the piano here, but he arranged, orchestrated AND conducted ALL of the songs on this album. He's doing a little more here than "covering." I like Elton John too, but this arrangement and performance makes me want to sing, dance, rejoice at being alive!! (Oh, and he's not bad to look at either! ;-)
Because he's a jazz singer, like Buble...duh. It's a jazz-influenced version of the song, like the songs Buble sings. And I love Buble, too, but this guy's been singing for a couple decades earlier than him.
im saddend to hear that somebody says this sounds like a buble song...sinatra personally passed the torch to harry connick....without connick there would be no krall...no cincotti...and yes no buble....harry kept this style going for decads just as darkamethyst said...but im not here to criticize....as long as you listen...soon you will be going out and buying all his albums....and most of them dazzle.....

i never post on stuff like this, but what do people find to be so impressive about this guy? there are a lot of covers. i think he's ok at best. i dont know much about him, but if he's famous - then i hope he has a lot of his own songs that he wrote and didnt just cover other people's stuff. otherwise he's very lucky to be famous at all. if he does have his own stuff, and this is just a side thing - then whatever, it's okay
Harry was a child prodigy. You Tube him and you'll see some old footage. Yes, while he's covering he does a lot of his own arrangements which is really difficult for this type of music.
Check out his piano work as well...man can he play!! Genius.
Listen to his songs on Oh, My Nola. Thats where he shines, big band jazz and funk. He has some bluesy new orleans roots, and is best with a big band and great music behind him. He said he did this cd just for a more vocal focus, but thats not really who he is.
This was the first song my recently deceased husband asked me to play years ago I know he would have liked Harry's cover of "Your Song". I love his style. Thank You.
This song has been covered so many times that - I think - he wanted to come up with somethiong different. I do agree with you that this up tempo style hurts the beauty of the lyrics a little bit. My favorite version is the original recorded by Elton John. My second favorite is the one performed by Al Jearreau in a "jazzy" kind of way.
This sounds like a completely and wonderfully new song!

It's not supposed to be exactly like the original. That's why it's a COVER.
I can't wait to get this cd. =]

i love harry, and i love this song, but it really shouldn't be sung this way. If he sang it slower and sweeter, it'd make any girl swoon.

For real?!?!?! He's been singing WAY longer than he's been acting. He's awesome.

I absolutely love Harry and his music.
That being said..This is butchery. The song is meloncholy and somber. Not an upbeat- Orleans thrill ride!
Damned Clive Davis for making Harry record this.
