  • Who's "We"?

Anyway, I like it but you can't a good idea from a video unless the amp is properly miced. The crunchy rail seems a tad thin but that might be the camera mic. Overall I'd say you did good. UG FTW.

  • @razormusik We is my amp/guitar tech, and myself. :)

I have a SM57 microphone, but I need to get a tube preamp as well as a new sound card or something to get the audio into the computer. So expensive... :(

It IS a bit thin in the video, and I do have it setup to be a little thin. I'm using a 5751 V1, and 12AT7 V2 with pretty clean NOS JDM el84 tubes. It is less warm than the VEH pickup which was in there before. I'm not done fiddling with EQ settings, and such. I like it a lot more for metal.

  • @chisleu It definitely works for that. Nice choice.

  • @razormusik

Actually, I really appreciate the observation. I swapped out my RCA 5751 and GE 12at7 for my mullard 12ax7 and RCA LBP 12ax7 and she filled out BEAUTIFULLY! The 5751/12at7 sounded great before (kinda cleaned up the dark caps / pickups) but now these are FANTASTIC especially with the stock 1x12" combo speaker running. I did have to pull the bass back a little with them in though, but it has a much more full tone (although all of this video was a scooped mid EQ)

  • @razormusik

After more attention paying (lol), yeah it sounds thin in this video. It's fantastic IRL. I picked up a toneport for my Sure SM57 today, which hopefully will let me record something with a little better quality tomorrow.

  • @chisleu Looking forward to it! I was actually looking into buying this amp before I settled on my Bugera. I've gotten the chance to play through one and it's really something. As for your recording, the toneport's a nice bit of hardware. Nice thing about it is that you don't need to mic the amp if you need to play quiet, although you'll always get better sound out of a real amp than a model. Looking forward to the demo!

Also, who are you on UG?

  • @razormusik

I've looked at bugeras as well, and I love this amp. I'll never sell it now. I'm excited about the toneport as well. I played with the mic input with my voice only yesterday and it was pretty good I thought.I'll have to see. I think I'll get a tube mic preamp though and use the line level inputs in the back. The amp modeling is kinda weak, EXCEPT for some of the clean sounds and effects. some of them are pretty great.

I need some good tracker software...

  • @chisleu I recommend Reaper. Free and very very powerful.

  • @razormusik I'll check it out now. I just got done playing with the mic setup and such. Just a preliminary. I just wanted to get SOMETHING that sounded better than this video. I need to do a lot more work to get my amp's sound into the computer the right way. haha.

Anyway, check out my UG profile's mp3s.

  • @razormusik yeah, I forgot to add, I'm pimpsmurf from UG.
