  • Celibidache, quando poteva suonare con Benedetti Michelangeli, doveva essere l'uomo più felice del mondo.

  • Many thanks for uploading this long work.

  • Geez! Michelangeli makes this piece look SOOOOO easy (it isn't really though.... at least I don't think so:P)

  • Thank you for posting this . Was just wondering if the orchestra was overpowering the soloist when they play together . Also, is this the Munich Phil or one of Celi's earlier bands in Stockholm/Cologne etc ?

  • hello hamjii !!! do you have the 2, 3 mvt of this ????

  • Incredible to see Celi and Michelangeli together! Thanks for posting!

  • michelangeli was quite trying to look like liszt in here

  • Thank you hamjii, the sound is much better than an other of this Movement on youtube too. Historic performance!

  • AT THE BEGINNING ITS TOOOOOOO SLOW....it could be faster...but anyway michelangeli is a perfect piano player

  • toooooooooo slow ? no, the orchestra started in a bad way...so he adjusted the sincro... listen carefully... he was waiting for the entrance of the piccolo that was tooooooooooo fast!!!!!!!!!! ALLEGRAMENTE does not mean PRESTO!!!

  • @AlexanderFieres you are slow!

  • both the orchestra and the piano produce unbelievably beautiful tones. The piano display very little emotion but it suits this Ravel piece perfectly - to me this performance resembles a perfectly made swiss mechanical watch.

  • Michelangeli + Celibidache: The best of best!!!

    Pure Genius...

    Thanks!

  • Michelangeli es uno de los mejores pianistas del mundo y uno de los que propugnan la música como método de crecimiento espiritual.

Tampoco me gusta la interpretación del director pero la de Michelangeli me parece muy clara y de gran calidad.

  • This is a terrible interpretation of this piece, especially by the conductor, who is not in touch with the concerto at all. The high horn solo, however, is played in a godly manner.

  • Mr Hornist, you may find that Celibidache and his teacher Furtwangler don't have any relations with new way of reading music and interpretation.

  • @LSOHornist if you would have had any idea about conducting, probably you would have said the same about celibidache as you said about the hornist

  • I CONCUR!

  • Michelangeli was a great artist. His EMI recording of the Ravel and Rachmaninoff's Fourth Concerto with the Philharmonia is a true historical document. This video document does not do full justice. Celibidache is responsible for smothering Michelangeli's fire.
