On his first audition he came out in a crumpled business suit and the crowd was mocking him like they did Susan and America was worse, they started booing him, but instead of running off the stage, he kept singing and his voice is a God given gift that turned the crowd around to where they were giving him a standing ovation like they did Susan. For me the results are a result of the culture. Sure, Susan got the grannies of Britain checking out youtube, but they're still so senile they can't "Twitter" their vote for her. I see BGT and American Idol the same way. Prejudice wasn't a huge factor. Christians and people who found Kris Allen either sexy or more their cup of tea went his way. The audience that watches reality TV is more akin to a hip hop group than an over 40 quasi-opera singer.
