  • what are those black towers in there

  • has anyone actually testes how much it removes of fluoride ? What method dose it use to filter the fluoride ?

  • The build instructions are now in the video description.

  • the berky didnt do jack , we have over 450 ppm hard ass water and it only lowered it by 20ppm , a sand/gravel/ charcoal (bone char removes fluoride ) filter in a bucket works much better cost 10 bucks

  • you should use glass containers instead of those plastic ones that actually poison the water, all hard plastics, especially those of water and children toys etc tend to lose their chemical structure and therefore poisoning the water.

  • not good enough .for $150 you get a distiller

  • Hey guys...due to the all the requests I will soon post more detailed instructions on how to do this build....Thanks for your interest.

  • It would be helpful if you would provide a drawing of the INTERNALS of your setup.

  • How is this a 19 dollar project, when the filters cost 95 dollars each?

  • @asorita1 Yeah..I should probably clarify the title....$19 for the filter containers. You would pay about $150 for these containers at Berkeyfilters

  • You have given us some great ideas here.

I will modify some stainless steel beer kegs I have to make the Big Berkey Supreme Leader ... fitted out with Berkey fluoride filters.

Australians and the environment are being poisoned by state government legislation mandating fluoridation of municipal water supplies.

Mount Isa in Queensland state is due to get this poison in June 2012.

  • is it bpa free?

  • @WRETCHEDxSINNER Good question....not sure.

  • I think you're supposed to remove those stickers on the pf-2 that says "flow ->"

  • @spamllpitdept Thanks for letting me know....I didn't realize those were stickers.

  • Excellent idea!! I'm going to look into doing this too.

  • For me alone the water jugs would be over $19, then add in everything else.

  • What did you use to join the jugs?

  • @ZingZiggyZang Nothing. I just cut them so that they slid inside each other.

  • how does cost a brain filter for polluted thoughts of a summer dream by SHEAKSPEARE?????????? i THINK 3+3 ,..ITS... ANYWAY GOES TO SEVEN

    ALGORITHMIC IN GEOMETRIC EVALUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keeping your water in plastic is not healthy. Plastic releases chemicals to your water. Use stainless steel or glass containers, maybe even ceramic.

  • @tosan1 That's why people rotate their water storage every 6-12 months. If people didn't aerate their water or use it, then yes, there's a chance of chemicals from plastic leeching into the water.

  • Well done! Good to see you took care of the fluor poisoning problem as well.

  • Nice job.

  • I bought mine empty from the Kentwood Springs man.

  • Dude....where did you find 5 gallon water jugs for 6 dollars? They cost $11.50 (filled ) at the local Wal-Mart.

  • Well there go's your $20 dollar filter right out the door ! as soon as you said $95 for the filters, and how ever much for the other filters,So the container to hold the filters was under $20. Is what you meant to say!

  • @barryo20011 I thought the same thing. Very misleading title. I thought this was going to show how to make the FILTERS, not the 'casing to hold the $95 Berkey filter" Waste of time watching this video.

  • My berkey filters drip extremely slowly. They don't have a constant stream of water coming from them like yours do. Just slowly drips one drop at a time, even when the filters were brand new so it has nothing to do with them needing to be cleaned. They are the ceramic candle type hooked up to the fluoride filters. Maybe the ceramics just run slower. After they were about 6 months old, they required cleaning with a scotch bright pad every 2 weeks or so. Not sure why as I use city water

  • 19 dollars, plus 95 dollars for the Berkey filters that go inside.

  • I hope you're using BPA free water jugs else you're still poisoning yourselves.

  • Comment removed

  • @rawmark BPA free jugs may not be safe as we used to think...google: "Even BPA-Free Plastic Not Always Safe"

  • @jeffb129 Jeff, I agree with you. I just figure it's an alternative. However, I have a water distiller in my home and a stainless steel stovetop distiller to be used as a backup. I've always had issues with Berkey and one of the reasons they're not sold in California is because the testing that was done in California contradicts what Berkey says their filters will remove. Berkey filters aren't good at removing fluoride.

  • @rawmark Interesting, I did not know that! I am also from California. What type of system do you use? reverse osmosis?

  • @jeffb129 Jeff, right now Water Distillation. I have a Pure Water Inc. system because I found it to be the best line of water distillers made in the U.S. Another thing I like about them is they are all stainless steel. I do have leads on a few good RO systems that are Made in the USA as well if you want them. i just don't think that the activated alumina is very effective at removing fluoride. The Pure Earth ones, however, are the best activated alumina fluoride filters on the market.

  • @rawmark So, bright boy, while you put down something portable & gravity fed, what's your game plan when the grid fails?

    No electricity. No water pressure.

Your chest cavity will collapse from sucking so hard, eh?

  • @pnwoods I don't have to worry about the grid failing you arse. I build my own solar and wind on my property and I'm completely off the grid. How's that for an answer?

  • @pnwoods And I have a holding tank that holds 300,000 gallons of water under my property and I grow water on my house up to 300 gallons a day so whatever I do not use goes into my holding tank. So, when and if the grid fails, I'm covered. I've got water produced by solar, energy produced by solar and wind, a root cellar and a greenhouse on my property for growing food year round.

  • @rawmark Now why would someone with all your assets and real estate be watching a video on how to make a homemade Berkey?

  • @pnwoods Because I like to keep my options open. There was a water born, brain eating, amoeba that killed two people recently who used ordinary tap water for jala neti. The Berkey may or may not remove that nasty item from the water. A water distiller will. Waterwise even makes a stainless steel pot that will distill water over a stove or fire, so other options do exist. Sure, the Berkey is an option, but it has way to go because of the nasty stuff our government dumps in our water.

  • @rawmark you have a tank 8 times bigger than an inground swimming pool that 20 by 35by 8 ft ?

  • @toob247 It's not really a tank in the way that you think of a tank. It's water storage. And yes, I have storage that's 8 times bigger than a swimming pool. If it ever fills up I have two different water treatment systems it will hit upon entering the house so it's always safe to drink, regardless of how long it's been sitting. :)

  • @rawmark where is there room for 30ft x50ftx30ft cube ? thats 30x30x50ft deep is it a bladder , how does this much volume work is it the buried plastic cube type?

  • @toob247 I have a pool but wow to have that much storage even 50k galloons would be awesome

  • Great idea, could you please send me the directions with the items and sizes I would need to make me one? Thank you.

  • The spigot comes with a washer.

  • Hi mate. Do you need to seal the spicket in anyway or does it come with a washer and what not? Cheers.

  • Holy Smoke....6+6+7=13?.....I must have been doing the new math....obviously the thing cost me $19.....Also the filter elements treat 3000 gallons each...so this filter will treat 6000 (3000x2) :)
