But the build of the Mercs then still weren't the best, but like what chadr76 said, Chrysler doesn't own Mercedes-Benz anymore, so their quality is going back up again like it was way back.

That wasn't the point of this. It was for comparison reasons.

Everybody knows how incredibly fast the Mercedes SLR McLaren is. It kills most supercars 0-300km/h.

But the Veyron makes it look "slow" in COMPARISON. So one wonders how insanely fast the Veyron is if it does this to a superfast car like the SLR.

First of all the reason the Mercedes SLR has the McLaren name is because McLaren designed it and also manafactured it in their own factory in Woking, England in the McLaren centre. McLaren basically re-designed the Mercedes V8 supercharged engine and devoloped most of the car.

If you think about the McLaren-Honda Formula 1 racecar, then that was only powered by Honda. 1988-1992
