  • 1 2 3 1 2 \ 1 2 3 1 2

  • @riqgonzalo

    more like 5/4 :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG AND THIS PERFORMANCE OVERALL IS AWESOME! HIS VIBRATO IN THE FIRST VERSE HAD TO GROW ON ME BUT HEY ITS STING HE CAN HAVE AN OFF MOMENT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE RIGHT LOL

  • where is dominic?

  • @giorgiocesaroni He'd be the guy with the guitar. He just got a haircut.

  • Very nice!!!!! 432 concert pitch. 516 Hz key, no wonder the audience is so happy and cheerful.

  • Say what youy want about S=ting but has he ever sounded unprofessionally superb on anything? What a reliable top o line pro as songwriter singer musicianship and entertainer. he's got it..

  • This voice is heaven!

  • all the people that hate on sting for playing on 9/11 - go buy the dvd and listen to what sting says in the beginning..and also between the songs!

  • great video ruined by bad sync :-(

  • I asked if that was Chris Botti in the back ground on another of these Sting concerts from Italy, and as I watch this one. I got my answer. I know "my" (lol) Chris Botti anywhere!

  • @txjignpig Chris Botti :)

    :)

  • Maybe it´s a silly question, and first of all: I don´t want to discriminate anyone,

I really don´t know: What´s so great about this Vinnie?

I saw just a few videos with him, and for me he wasn´t that "WOW" he is

    for you.

Please don´t think I know nothing ´bout drummers, I support Simon Phillips

    and Jeff Porcaro,

and I´ve been playing the drums myself for seven years,

    but I really don´t understand!

Maybe someone could give an explanation to me.

  • @blackpearl961963 he's manu katche(drummer)

  • @elfstick yeah, sure, but I really wanted to know something about Vinnie =)

  • @blackpearl961963 oh well you can check him out on his recordings if you like, these recording's Joe's Garage Acts 1-2-3(Frank Zappa), Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock..

  • The balance, the magic touch, the smoothness, the calm after the tragedy. LIfe will overcome.

  • @22valdisole Perfect comment. Sting is the right guy for that job.

  • I prefer hearing Vinnie Colaiuta on skins but this dude's real good!

  • @rastapastrychief yah,he's good,his name is manu katche.

  • it reminds me of a girl who are now lost forever she is in the music heavean , r.i.p trine t

  • Well I enjoyed it ,but i guess taste is subjective,On the other hand its easy to voice an opinion behind an alias

    cheers

    andy

  • great concert, great Sting and the rest

  • Manu is a great player, but he can't touch Vinnie on this song. Vinnie is one of the only guys out there that can play a 5/4, up-tempo, driving song like this, with all the flare and fills, and still make it feel fat and lazy and groove like hell. Vinnie has the unique ability to have the pedal to the metal, while still be riding the brake. He's the best there is.

  • manu katché rocks !!!!!!

  • shit this is amaazing

  • chris botti on trumpet?

  • I'd like to enjoy the videos without seeing any comments . How do I turn off comments on Youtube? There was a way. Now no longer?

  • ARE THOSE THE GIRLS FROM THE BRING ON THE NIGHT DVD?

  • manu katche . what a disaster.

  • Love this song. And I love Manu's work on Sting's earlier stuff, but he needs to find the groove that makes this song. This is Vinnie Colaiuta's signature song. I'm not complaining cos its a freakin' hard groove to play in 5/4.

  • moja savrsena miljenice divnice pesmice..oh koje tepanje!superb!

  • ALl great except manu katche! disaster!

  • what a good jazz!!!

    He's the best!!!

  • I like the way how they arranged it, but the original was already complete. To be honest, I don't really think this adds much. Still, briliantly performed for a live concert.

  • *LIVE ON ITALY 9-11 2001 , CMON STING , PEOPLE DIED IN A HORRENDOUS INSIDE JOB , YOUR EGO SHOWED AS NO EGO DIDNT CARE APPRENTLY ..STUPID...

  • @MARDIUNO i think you are american... well, i have to say, that before this concert, they spoke a lot, and becouse of this tragedy, they played a lot of sad songs... just search for Shape of my heart....

  • @Claptoni24 IAM SOUTHAMERICAN DONT YOU EVER CONFUSED ME WITH NORTHAMERICANS PLEASE...

WHATEVER , BUT THEY RECORDED THE WHOLE THING AND MAKE SURELLY A LOT OF MONEY WITH IT..

  • @MARDIUNO sorry for the american... well, i think this is the best concert of Sting, and, ya know, they don't recorded the whole thing, becouse they haven't record the arabic music he plays

  • @MARDIUNO actually Sting didnt want to go through with the show, he did due to demand and as far as i remember he didnt want them to record it either.

  • @MARDIUNO excuse but you're not him and you probably don't really and truly know what is going in his heart and how does he really feels.

  • @wsaludez ANYHOW , THE DVD IS OUT AND STING MAKES MONEY AS WE SPEAK ........

  • @MARDIUNO At least 5 times the number of people that died in that "event" die everyday in worse ways, stop with the ignorance and the out-dated ways to think.

  • @eck1997rock i mean , thats a diffrent issue man , sting made a lot of money on that dvd , the show wasnt cancelled and you all are putting a word on a couldnt care less musician about a terrible and obscure disgrace.........who did it ??

look after 9/11 coincidences , the whole 20 partrs instead of that -still proffiting concert in members only luxurious place in italis country side.......

  • OMG... Chris Botti rocked the place... and Manu Katche did his stuff too.

  • GOD WHAT AN ARRANGEMENT! =D

  • nice...

  • this is an all star cast, Chris Botti on trumpet, Manu Katche on drums, i wish i was there

  • This whole gig is brilliant. The atmosphere is electric, albeit for all the wrong reasons. There's a sort of dignified reluctance to play evident in every wrinkle of Sting's face, yet a grim determination to get on with it. The cold reality of a world just changed, on the cusp of a harsh new zeitgeist is evident in every note.

  • Manu is great....Botti is over playing the comp.....wat for....he is an amazing player.....last chorus is nice as its accelerating.....

  • watch Kimoosh

  • Dont you just hate it when you get it into your head to have a watch of one of your favorite artists performing one of his most beautiful songs on youtube only to scroll down the page and end up reading a load of bone head arguments from time wasting idiots... What a way to kill everyones vibe.

  • @SuperBethbethbeth yes - so no scrolling down this time

  • @SuperBethbethbeth I never scroll :))

  • Chris Botti is incredible!

I have always like the playful genius of the arrangement of this song. It has a message, but it makes a playful statement about a serious situation.

  • This is way better t.v. entertainment than the crashing towers. Chris Botti is again very good. He is also available on Youtube, look for his "chris botti and friends" version of this song in his own concert; you'll find the improvisations quite different but just as pleasurable!

Good Job Chris! And Sting... tsk-tsk, need anythingmore be said about this maestro? Bravo!

  • fantastic trumpet man

  • 3:19 what a great long trompet tone !!!!

  • Who cares about who would be better at what instrument there???

Such a beautiful song. Flawless version. So enjoy and let the music be music.

  • Chris botti's playing as sweet as usual :)

  • that was not off at all, it was superbly played, go back to watching american idol..... idiots!!!!

  • very bad?? dudes, it's not off at all...the whole arrangement is "jazzy" and that solo fits in so fking well!

  • vinnie would make the song sound better

  • vinnie would just be shaking his head

  • Wow, very nice. Great performance of a great song. These guys are clearly on the top of their game for this song.

  • Nice arrangement /Performance

    Mr.Sting and Family !

  • Absolutely. Amazing.

  • C. Botti messed up completely, OMG

  • Where?

  • I think he crossed too much with the melody. Just the solo would be enough of him.

    ps.3m20 is very bad btw.

  • Well, I'm no trumpet player so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm a drummer myself.

  • On the contrary, the 4th minute is well played. If you were musically trained you would understand that it is not off. Focus only on the trumpet and disregard the rest of the band for the moment. Botti holds each note for a long time, going up the scale, while the band is playing its own part. I imagine it is a relatively difficult passage to play.

  • So there are the band and Sting and there is Botti. (hmmm)

PS:Aparently you must be right because you are musically well trainned.

  • Wow, that makes you greater than me. And APPARENTLY you have enough education to speak in that way.

  • maybe he was upset abt 9/11

  • Comment removed

  • Actually I didn`t mean anything about consonance or dissonance, it`s not about harmony it`s about soloing/melody/motive/nuance. Besides all those cats have a strong jazz background they re playing a pop tune and I think C.B crosses a lot with the melody in many times(over playing)3m20 and the last 2 bars are strange for me.Cheers

  • Any one have the studio video whit vinnie on drums??

    Please upload if yes!!! =)

  • Christian McBride?

  • Yes.

  • Manu is a great drummer.

  • Yeah man, Manu kicks ass.

  • The trumpet misses the groove.

  • needed a bit more drive in my opinion, not the same without vinnie.

  • Do I have to tell a story

Of a thousand rainy days since we first met

    Its a big enough umbrella

But its always me that ends up getting wet

  • I didn´t like the colaiutaless

  • I liked Botti on trumpet just fine

  • I actually loved this performance. I thought it was one of the best songs in the dvd.

  • I'll have to agree with that. Everyone seems to be ripping on Manu's drumming because it wasn't "Vinnie." Even though I did like Vinnie's drum part better, the performance as a whole was still great.

  • on the contrary doodybear! Love this version better than any other. The trumpet is absolutely B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T! ;)

  • at the end of the song Sting said "Hounds... Hounds..."

He mean "hound of the winter" the next song!

  • Oh, really?!?!

  • wow, this must be the greatest performance of this song, ever!!!! what a great band playing with sting!!!!

  • manu has a wierd technique! he's amazing though nonetheless!

  • Gimmee a break...Manu was playing with Sting before Vinnie was...his work on Soul Cages is incredible.

  • Manu sucks balls in this vid. He can barely keep it together and can't pull off any of Vinnie's intricacies (the dotted-eight accents, etc.). He's a good groove player, but that's about it.

  • do you not like how he plays in hounds of winter in this same concert?

  • No (the majority of the tune is just rimshots). And his drums sound God-awful.

  • oh ok.....

  • the drummer is great, the mix is off thats why it sounds wierd

  • I love the WTC live performance show! Is there a recording of it somewhere?

  • there is DVD called all this time and album too

  • i agree that the song is better with vinnie, but watch the video for "hounds of winter" from this same concert and manu is amazing

  • manu definitley doesnt fit with Sting !

  • Manu fits better with Peter Gabriel's music.

  • all the band members marvelous amazing style in every live perfomance.

    kashif

  • he is the man

  • What is the name of that song that Sting wrote about the teacher and student falling in love. D: I want that song sooo bad. o.o

  • Don't stand so close to me, that's the name of the song.

  • and indeed that is a very cool song. there are about 3 versions of it, 2 records, and the live version. you can click on in the right bar, i like it very much!

  • The song you talk about could be autobiographical as he used to teach

  • Interesting that everyone is debating drummers, because, even though there are so many things about this song to love, I watch this primarily for Manu's incomparable playing. Tough song for a drummer to handle.

  • Manu did great with Peter Gabriel! But Vinnie is insane.Everyone who respects this instrument knows what I'm talking about. You may try a thousand times to play "seven days".Not even one will be close to Vinnie.

  • vinnie is indeed the man with this tune, every time he played it live it always changed and was always equally melodic and monstrous.

  • This is Vinnie's song, but Manu sound is also unique with Peter Gabriel.

  • *Sigh* Sting is amazing...

  • wonderful !!! i, every morning before going to work, listen to this version.

    thank you so much sting.

  • i like so much

  • i love dominic

  • dudes...manu is great!..i agree with that... it's just i don't like the way he handles the rolls to make the version of the song sound more better....vinnie? he's the perfect drummer for sting... even the orig drummer of police likes vinnie for sting...it would be better if vinnie do all the drumming for sting..

  • excelent drummer

  • both vinnie and manu are fantastic drummers. Id like to think of it like this. Englishman in newyork is manus signature song while vinnies song is seven days. All of stings drummers have been awesome.

  • i like your point of view a lot better. a lot of people are just saying manu cant drum at all. which isnt true.

  • Well I love it!!!

  • i think this is the best seven days version i've heard so far. and i've heard many. sounds better than studio version. rating of this video says it all. trumpet, drums, bass, backing vocals...can't believe this is live. everything in its right place.

  • yeah!!

  • Ugliest version of Seven Days

  • ow,you mean best version.........

  • Your likes... not mine! Look at the drums, Vinnie is ten times better! And Sting is really thinking "what am i doing with these people"... not a melodic chorus too..

  • yeah...wathever

  • dude NV3 is right this is a really ugly version of the song, i mean im a critic and the drummer in this isnt playing with soul like Sting's other drummer Vinnie Colaiuta

  • I believe this is a great example of a puzzle game... when at the end you get a fantastic picture made of small peaces... talking drum...tabla... wow!... great performance on the total!

  • Whether its Manu, Keith, Vinnie or Abe, who cares. Its a great song, and we should be fortunate to have the opportunity to see the worlds greatest drummers put thier own touch to such a great tune!

  • the best in the drums stewart copeland

  • yea, where is Vinnie ??!!!!!!

manu kacthe is a very good drummer, but he is not as good a colaiuta

  • Where's Vinnie!!!!!! SOS!!!!

  • Needs less Manu and more Vinnie.

  • haha! you said it, man.

  • The song's better with Stevie Wonders Harmonica : ) but this is great too. Sting is the master :D

  • Ups sorry wrong song :D

  • Well, this man has such a talent and he´s so inventive and bloody creative... It´s a stunning performance, actually. Cheers!

  • must be embarrassing for manu katche...

  • why? because he has to follow vinnie colaiuta drumming on this song?

  • yea. sorry manu is good, but he doesn't come CLOSE to playing this as well as vinnie did.

  • Ooh, I love Chris Botti's touch on this!

  • the best of the best....

  • me gusta mucho su bajo!

  • best drum groove ever!!

  • yeah

    every day

    Seven Days

We Will be listening to music Sting...!
