Cossackstride : i can dig it, but at 18 he ran that on "fast" modern track(rubberized) hates was 20.5 yrs ols when he ran that 10.05 but remember it was on a loose DIRT track, thats like having a race with someone running on the sidewalk and you running next to then on the dirt next to him=BIG DIFFERANCE. and he did click off a 9.91 in a semi
on that same dirt track with wind just over legal.
funny all these Chris Johnson fans and Desean Jackson fans stating how fast they are
take a look at 2nd place Cuba's Enrique Figueroa he ran 10.2 and on this peice of shit dirt
track look by how much he was beaten by hayes on this same shit dirt track and in an even shittier chewed up lane. Johnson's best 100m is 10.34(and on todays fast modern surface tracks)hayes in his prime would EMBARRESS Jobnhson so bad and i mean
@bossofalltime yeah, wind assisted or not..to run 9.91 on dirt is just too unreal to be true.just the imagination what he could have done in mexico city '68 gives me goosebumps
Absolutely destroyed everyone in the semi-final at 0:50 .... that was the windy 9.91, and 10.06 in the final from lane 1 which was pretty beaten up. I wouldn't bet against Hayes running a sub10 there and then from a central lane in better condition. And if I'm honest, it looks like he takes his foot off the the gas for the final few metres knowing that he had done enough to win - that is why Bob was so great he ran as fast as he needed to in order to win....no telling how fast he could've gone!
