  • The friable asbestos is what is dangerous. Transite (cement/asbestos) is generally fairly safe unless it is ground up or gets to the point where the cement disintigrates. Same goes for vinyl tile, as long as you're not abrading them or grinding them up you are fairly safe. The glue used to hold the vinyl tiles down may contain abestos and removal could be worse than covering them with underlayment and leaving them alone.

  • I'm renovating my house Asbestos I can!

  • MY HOUSE HAS ASSBESTOS LIKE DAMN

  • so that brown crap i've been kicking up in my attic for 3 years is asbestos? wow we have an ac unit up there ok time to go to the doctor...

  • Azzbestos....AKA Beasto's

  • Answer me this where is the azzbesstuss at?

  • @santrackjuggalo when was ur house built?

  • Really the surveyor (inspector) should not have his respirator dangling from his neck with the face-piece rubbing against a (dirty) overall.

  • In summary: EVERYTHING Contains Asbestos.

  • Chrysotile shouldn't be grouped under cancer causing mineral in general...Scientific study needed......

  • Does anyone know whether white asbestos dust is visible or invisible? I know that asbestos fibres are invisible to the naked eye, but if one was to disturb white asbestos powder then would you actually see the dust as it was being disturbed, or is the dust itself also completely invisible to the naked eye?

  • Having removed much mag, air-cell, transite, tile, plaster, etc, I can tell you that yes you can see it during removal. But, it is not the fibers that you can see that are the greatest threat, it is the microscopic fibers that are more apt to lodge themselves into you lung tissue. It is basically the natural version of fiber class. If you handle fiber glass, you can see it. But, you can't see the small fibers that irritate your skin. Well, asbo is like that, but can break down smaller.

  • I had no idea it was in so much of a building, I have breathed in broken asbestos materials unintentionally and live in an asbestos infested building. Damn it!

So when doing any contracting job call in an azzie (asbestos) tester?
