FSX - Acceleration Customs Intercept Mission

@gpgoss LOL that happened to me too, literally 3 and a half hours and i stuck with it until over the atlantic... PISSED!!! thing is you have to get really close to the plane. then it will trigger the next move, hope that helps, APPY FLYING.

FS is not just a game, it is a learning tool. The US Navy uses it, for one. Like another poster said, its fun to fly "half in the bag" and not risk a real aircraft!

Answers:

1)Most of us cant do it because of our age and money issues also being a pilot is probably something we whant to experiance and fsx allows to do it and in a safe way.

2)the fact that we want to do something we have already done better and better

3)we might get bored of easy missions and we whant to challenge ourself

4)I suppose it would be nice making a custom plane:)

I have some questions abour psychology:

(1) Why do we enjoy flying "Flight Simulator"?

(2) What does make us to play Flight Simulator over and over again?

(3) Why do we want challenge flyings instead of a smooth fly? (eg. refuelling a F18 by a KC10)

(4) If Flight Simulator allows us to choose your desired jet engines and to modify aeroplanes, will this be fun for players?

Answers:

1) I can't afford (both time or money) to do the real thing. Plus if I'm canned on a Saturday night and fancy a circuit in a Cessna, I can legally do it :)

2) I've not played for quite some time, but my guess would be that, like any other game, it has addictive qualities for some

3) If you screw it up you don't die :) Joking, I prefer normal flight in unmodified aircraft.

4) Not for me.

(1) it is the challenge, to do a good job, anyone who uses fs passengers will understand this.

2 it is the fact of toatle freedom,weather you want to fly into call B airspace in a 747 and not even announce your intentions, or to the whole thing properly,it is upto you .

3 and you can mod your aircraft very easy with the cfg file, i do it to all my aircraft, make new panels, make the aircraft handle better, give that cessna 172 a little bit more grunt. for eg.

how did you finish that mission? I've been following the c47 for at least an hour and it still isn't landing anywhere. it's at about 70 feet all the time, meanwhile it's flown through a forest and a few buildings even. a bug?

Suggestion: (this happened to me)- try getting within 5nm of the C47- at that point a trigger should fire and you will be able to choose which aircraft you want to *chase*

Ah, thanks. It worked. It's more like 0,5 nm. I had flown about 1.5-2nm away from them and the trigger didn't fire.

It's a AgustaWestland EH-101 and yes, you find it in acceleration.

This mission is kindoff boring :p Followed one of the airplanes (don't rememver what of them) for probably for about 30 minutes and then I screwd up and he left from the island he landed at :p

Have you tryed any of the SAR/payload missions with that heli?

My joystick always turns left. Doesn't make it easy in helicopters. At least planes have autopilot where you can relax, but heli's with my joystick is a constant battle. That's why it looks like I'm at a 30-45 degree angle most of the time :)

I think (though I've not tried) if you adjust the sensitivities in the settings it's easier to fly (I'm sure I read that somewhere).

1_ your piloting isnt bad, you can takeoff and land safely and thats what matters.

Its a Customs Intercept mission. You respond to a call of a possible illegal border crossing and it turns out to be 2 aircraft. You can only follow one of those aircraft (hence the other part in the video responses).

The rest of the story is in the video(s). You follow them until they land and you bust them :-)

I've never been a pilot and have very little time to practice on FSX, so yes, I'm crappy at flying but I don't post to show off "my skillz" ;-)

There won't be any more videos similar to this, even if I record a precision flight. They are all one of a kind from me and if you think this is bad flying, go back to my first few video uploads from a year or so ago, lol.

Cycle through the views. I can't remember the key; maybe A or S on a UK keyboard by default.

Yes you could probably play with similar gfx settings as me (its not full though).

Definitely install SP2 as it allows DX10 and also speeds things up greatly over the original disk installation version.

I am frustrated and lost...Does anyone else with FSX Acceleration not have the ability to pull up the actual cockpit on the 3 add'l aircraft? I mean virtual cockpit is cool, but I would like the cockpit that you normally get with all the other flight sims (the abbreviated cockpit). Nice soundtrack by the way.

Yes, the 2D cockpit isn't there. If you miss it download a cockpit from a different aircraft and use that. Couldn't tell you how to do it though.

Mine does not run on full settings. Very high, yes, but not full. FRAPS really knocks the frame rate down too :( buit it still copes reasonably.

I have a quad core Q6600 cpu running on an Abit IN9-Max32 motherboard with a single BFG 8800 GTX and 2 Raptor Hard drives in Raid 0 configuration (and a meaty power supply).

this mission is such bogus, first off i live in key west and customs helicopters dont exactly take off from key west int. if anything the coast guard will try to intercept them first, the only customs helicopter near here would be in homstead afb. and the smugglers usually try to drop off the coast not at some made up island with a landing strip

I've a BFG 8800 GTX.

I have an opportunity to test the new 8800 GT and if you wait a week or 3 I'll let you know how it performs. Its much cheaper than the GTX and - apparently - almost as good.

If you don't run Vista then there less need for a DX10 ready card unless you plan for long term upgrades. They are expensive, but probably the best around at the moment.
