what was that about scart sockets and living in bulgaria eh?
we still have those sockets on the back of most tvs here as many old input devices use them (as one connecter is simpler than 3) (actually for that reason not sure why it didnt catch on in america :P:P)
Wow. He totally missed some major points on this one. It can connect to 2 other PCs via SMB as well to stream data off a shared network drive. It DOES do Divx/Xvid playback, as well as many other AVI formats (Cinepack, Invideo, etc). It also can read VOB files stored right on the drive (menus and all).
It DOES have some weak points though. It's NOT a NAS, as the drive is not shared on the network from the box, nor can you FTP or browse it's contents. It also keeps the drive spinning 24/7.
the only thing that would make this even better is if you could connect to internet video sights instead of having to download to your computer first then transfer to the box.
Looking on tigerdirect and they have a cheaper one for around $99 but it doesn't have all the stuff this one does. IMO it's just as good.
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
Why can't it show 1080p, QQ i hate 1080i, So ill have to stay with 720p. Having HDMI output would of been such a better idea but this is one of the coolest things i have ever seen and i want one. I'll be able to have so many movies on here it would be insane. LOL Blu-Ray rips here i come.
I was looking for a product like this, but I'd rather get the WD TV which costs half the price of this and supports 1080p via HDMI, which this doesn't.
Its all about the connectivity, it makes the device more convinient and makes it more useful for everyone, like the USB ports, without those maybe this would be bought less.

The 3500 DOES NOT support .srt subtitle files as listed on the spec.
This could be classed as a breach of trade descriptions.
90% of my films have subtitles. This device is not capable of playing them.

Bear in mind that it's not got a proper SATA power cable: it's not got the orange wire.
This might cause problems in the future.
