What brought me to post this song today is the realization that my own time is limited ... albeit not yet as specifically determined by any doctor. I'm not scared of dying ... what concerns me is not having the time left to share what I've learned with my kids, or to adequately explain the significance, sentimental or otherwise, of the few meager possessions I have, that were handed down to me or otherwise, that I hold dear.
@bu88les985 i am truly sorry for your loss. i truly admire the courage of your brother as he faced death with dignity and honor. may the future bring you joy and happiness and ultimately, that blessed reunion at the crossroads...
@casey3234 And to think she was a TEENAGER when she wrote this song!!! An old soul in an young body. She's not a household name, but if you listened to late 60's/early 70's music..... you've heard her songs. This is my favorite BS&T recording.
The early members of BS&T were all musical virtuosos.... indeed, of all the genres the poster of this video mentioned, he forgot to mention that BS&T could easily bust out a Latin infused jazz number that would make Tito Puente get up and boogie.... remember the Latin interlude in the BST version of "God Bless The Child?" - check it out.
I dedicate this to my uncle who died this evening at the age of 94 from an accidental firearms discharge. God never put a more upright and real man on this earth - logger, Civilian Conservation Corps worker, pilot, business owner, adventurer, and all-around great guy. I'm going to miss him terribly. God speed you to your rest, Uncle Bill.
Clever lyrics, they seem to belong in a musical of some sort. Who would think that a song about dying could be so peppy? It makes death seem less scary. Again, clever.
My brother posted this yesterday after coming back from the oncologist, they gave him 3-6 months to live. My heart is broken. This song inspired him as he opted do no treatment, to go natually. Love you my brother
Sad , for sure. I lost a bvrother to cancer. I stayed with him through the entire three years he was last alive. may you, like my brother and i, haunt infinity, for eternity.
@bu88les985 I am with Your brother on This one! Sorry for Him and you, Take The words of the song and Remember my Friend of the good Times you and your Brother Had Together! PEACE!!!!
@bu88les985: I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. While I cannot imagine what he is going through, I thought I'd share a story with you. I, too, have a personal affinity towards this song. My mother died in '68, one week before my 6th birthday. It really helped me through the experience, & the whole album still has a very special place in my heart remembering her. It totally made sense to me when I was 6, and still does. Sending thoughts & prayers to your brother & your family.
@bu88les985 Sorry for your loss. I was just thinking of my good friend who also chose to go naturally, and did so just a couple days ago. Sharing your pain today.
@bu88les985 God be with your Brother and make the best of him while he is still in the mix. I turn 60 on Tuesday and my health is of the fucking rail but I can still turn it around so this is what I have to do because I have to kids, 14 and 11 and I need to be around for them as long as I can. Tell your Brother that I am praying for him and that God be with him.
@RoyFive I never heard that. . . What an incredible sound that would have been. I wonder, though. She was such a perfect performer alone, with just the piano.
