  • 5 dislikes? Really? Lol

  • for me the best song they ever did. and if there is no heaven, we are fucked

  • This song brings back memories from last year. Thanks for uploading this song!

  • To be remembered in the hearts of those that have been left behind - is to never die!!!!!! Godspeed!!!!!

  • My most heartfelt condolences.

What brought me to post this song today is the realization that my own time is limited ... albeit not yet as specifically determined by any doctor. I'm not scared of dying ... what concerns me is not having the time left to share what I've learned with my kids, or to adequately explain the significance, sentimental or otherwise, of the few meager possessions I have, that were handed down to me or otherwise, that I hold dear.

  • My condolences to you and family

  • Today my brother lost his battle to cancer, he leaves the world on today the birth date of our deceased Mother! RIP my brother James Ross Poland

  • @bu88les985 You know first hand how fragile life is, live yours to the fullest, make your brother proud.

  • @bu88les985 god bless you and your family

  • @bu88les985 i am truly sorry for your loss. i truly admire the courage of your brother as he faced death with dignity and honor. may the future bring you joy and happiness and ultimately, that blessed reunion at the crossroads...

  • @bu88les985 My condolences to you & your family. There really needs to be a cure for cancer.

  • to carry on, to carry on

  • The rift starting at about 1:04 makes me think of Yoshi and Mario World for SNES.

  • The genius of Laura Nyro.....

  • @casey3234 And to think she was a TEENAGER when she wrote this song!!! An old soul in an young body. She's not a household name, but if you listened to late 60's/early 70's music..... you've heard her songs. This is my favorite BS&T recording.

  • nothing provides for the young like death,w much respect to all,of course.

  • "And when I die, and when I'm gone,

    There'll be one child born

In this world to carry on..."

So true. My mother passed away Dec 8th.... my granddaughter was born January 8th. The circle goes on....

  • @MasterRoad69 God bless them and you always

  • @RasMajnouni Thank you, I spent time holding my grandaughter today and thinking about how much mom would have loved her.

  • This was one of my 1st lp's I bought with my allowance ( being 10) , I nevere regret buying it!!!

  • Sorry to hear Bu88. Its a great song, I hope it brings you tour brother and family some comfort

  • They don't make em like this anymore.

  • The early members of BS&T were all musical virtuosos.... indeed, of all the genres the poster of this video mentioned, he forgot to mention that BS&T could easily bust out a Latin infused jazz number that would make Tito Puente get up and boogie.... remember the Latin interlude in the BST version of "God Bless The Child?" - check it out.

  • I dedicate this to my uncle who died this evening at the age of 94 from an accidental firearms discharge. God never put a more upright and real man on this earth - logger, Civilian Conservation Corps worker, pilot, business owner, adventurer, and all-around great guy. I'm going to miss him terribly. God speed you to your rest, Uncle Bill.

  • Clever lyrics, they seem to belong in a musical of some sort. Who would think that a song about dying could be so peppy? It makes death seem less scary. Again, clever.

  • Boy, This takes me back, I used to always get up and do the "Shake your finger" dance.

  • My Dad wrote the lyrics to this song in his suicide letter. It sounds just like what he would have said..

  • give your body to the earth and your spirit to the great soul and let the next one go.

  • Great Laura Nyro song eh'....

  • All I ask of living is to have no chains on me.......

  • My brother posted this yesterday after coming back from the oncologist, they gave him 3-6 months to live. My heart is broken. This song inspired him as he opted do no treatment, to go natually. Love you my brother

  • @bu88les985 God Bless him...I am sorry to hear that. I hope he finds peace and comfort.

  • @bu88les985

Sad , for sure. I lost a bvrother to cancer. I stayed with him through the entire three years he was last alive. may you, like my brother and i, haunt infinity, for eternity.

  • @bu88les985 Thoughts & prayers to your brother, you and your family.

  • @bu88les985 I am with Your brother on This one! Sorry for Him and you, Take The words of the song and Remember my Friend of the good Times you and your Brother Had Together! PEACE!!!!

  • @bu88les985: I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. While I cannot imagine what he is going through, I thought I'd share a story with you. I, too, have a personal affinity towards this song. My mother died in '68, one week before my 6th birthday. It really helped me through the experience, & the whole album still has a very special place in my heart remembering her. It totally made sense to me when I was 6, and still does. Sending thoughts & prayers to your brother & your family.

  • @bu88les985

    Condolences to you and family!

  • @bu88les985 Sorry for your loss. I was just thinking of my good friend who also chose to go naturally, and did so just a couple days ago. Sharing your pain today.

  • @bu88les985 God be with your Brother and make the best of him while he is still in the mix. I turn 60 on Tuesday and my health is of the fucking rail but I can still turn it around so this is what I have to do because I have to kids, 14 and 11 and I need to be around for them as long as I can. Tell your Brother that I am praying for him and that God be with him.

  • @bu88les985 peace to you and yours. It's a path I walked myself with my mother so you have my sympathy

  • And when I die, and when I'm gone, There'll be one child born

In this world to carry on, to carry on...

  • I just read that they had considered Laura Nyro as a lead singer after Al Kooper's departure and just before David Clayton Thomas's induction.

  • @RoyFive I never heard that. . . What an incredible sound that would have been. I wonder, though. She was such a perfect performer alone, with just the piano.

  • Sixty nine was a great year...Even though I was born to carry on in 71'.

  • @KREEPNASTY1 1971 was an awesome year fro music--'71 was THE last year for great AM music top 40 hits.

  • Thanks for the great quality!

  • @oldonlybear god bless you good luck hope all goes peasefull
