Sure, however, since Mr. Jinnahs' relatives, the Wadias, are still in India, while Mr. Gandhi's aren't really at all even in politics, the personal political intent is evidenced here.

Look at pakistan today, it's economy is the size of Singapore, has no religious or cultural diversity and has been overrun by Pashtun settlers. Just recently inundated it's *1st* Sikh cadet as an officer. It has a failing economy and the state almost defaulted on it's loan and interest payments - which are signs of bankruptcy in macroeconomics.
It has a terrible reputation and is officially still a republic - but has undergone 3 major coups. As far as governance goes, its a terrible record.
So don't take anything to heart, I have a lot of respect for Sikhs and their culture. My business partner and mentor was a sikh! So really we're going the wrong path here.
Our ideologies are similar, and my opinions just surround remixed music - which is for the better anyways. Unless we're critical, we can't improvise. But the stuff from the UK will probably never sit easy with me, since I am a purist where music is concerned.

Yeah India has it's problems, but it has it's pros too and as a secular person, it obviously has my support for the time being over religious fanaticism and divisive politics.

Oh yeah on Sikh texts, I bet they are philosophical, the only I have read are the 10th Guru's, I think it's Gobind Singh - who I liked in a way since he was a Uniter. But so was Shivaji, a 'hindu' king, I don't see that acknowledged.
And yeah, like Judaism is referenced by Islam and Christianity - and none of it is irrelevant, religion may be referenced in South Asia too - it's still a separate philosophy, yeah.

It's good that you've a relative in the IA, but really the core reason to it all is differing versions.

Good that you like him, but Gandhi gave birth to the real non-violence movement, that was followed by the likes of King and Mandela. He has had a political philosophy, Mr. Jinnah really had nothing to offer to the thinking man but he probably had his reasons to his decisions.

Sure, however, since Mr. Jinnahs' relatives, the Wadias, are still in India, while Mr. Gandhi's aren't really at all even in politics, the personal political intent is evidenced here.
That said, as Mr. Jinnah famously is quoted, "There is always room in the top." - I think that statement certainly opens up areas for consideration. The biggest problem I have is this understatement of other non-Sikh factors in the 'freedom' (the damn country was ours, I wonder who the freedom is from really) movement. While I love Gandhi as a states person, I also like the likes of Bhagat Singh, his Rangde Basanti is a great statement, prior to his hanging, I believe.
Surely, if you quantify sacrifices by the sheer diversity of people, you couldn't actually quantify the Sikh from a Hindu, or a Muslim.

Look at pakistan today, it's economy is the size of Singapore, has no religious or cultural diversity and has been overrun by Pashtun settlers. Just recently inundated it's *1st* Sikh cadet as an officer. It has a failing economy and the state almost defaulted on it's loan and interest payments - which are signs of bankruptcy in macroeconomics.
It has a terrible reputation and is officially still a republic - but has undergone 3 major coups. As far as governance goes, its a terrible record.

So don't take anything to heart, I have a lot of respect for Sikhs and their culture. My business partner and mentor was a sikh! So really we're going the wrong path here.
Our ideologies are similar, and my opinions just surround remixed music - which is for the better anyways. Unless we're critical, we can't improvise. But the stuff from the UK will probably never sit easy with me, since I am a purist where music is concerned.

This is the era of economics and pacifism not violent revolutions. The era of revolutions is over, a calm and peaceful political process will benefit all - not just a few fat cats who incite religious superiority and then claim the high positions in the resulting divided institutions.
Yeah India has it's problems, but it has it's pros too and as a secular person, it obviously has my support for the time being over religious fanaticism and divisive politics.

Of course there is violence in India - compare that with the displacement of innocent Sikhs in Pakistan by the Taleban. Just civilians, forced out of their homes. Yeah, violence exists - but the foundations laid by the earlier generation have moulded a mentality - which exists at a deeper level.
I don't think religion is the way to go in the future, times have changed. But violence is definitely not the way. And what about the MNS... they turned on the North Indian Hindus!
