a ha... Ive just read there;s going to be an American remake, based in the White house with Kevin Spacey, dir david fincher --- I'm sure will be really something...
@bizzbizz100 yes, I totally agree..maybe he did'nt want one..or maybe he was considered too controversial..I mean, who's getting a Knighthood for being critical of the government and the royal family;-) But nevertheless, I think he was one of the finest british actors and his contribution to the art of acting was unique.!
@frantic1971 The role of the Chief Whip is to ensure that members of their political party vote for legislation in Parliament in the way that the Party wants them to vote for. There are three different kinds of 'whip' - the three-line whip which means party MPs *have* to vote that way or face punishment, two-line whip means you can not vote if you get someone on the opposite side not to vote, and single-line is basically a recommendation.
@frantic1971 Funny thing is, in the 18th century, the job of the Chief Whip and the other Whips was pretty much to go round all the local brothels and pubs and drag Members in for votes. Maybe Mr Stoat's ancestor was in there.
I never seen this scene eiver. Me and me missus are shittin bricks that this never made it into the dee vee dee what we dun bought from the abc shop. stone the flamin crows what else have we been missin out on??
Thank you very much for posting! This is my favorite British Trilogy: "House of Cards", "Playing the King" and "Final Cut". The first two parts are based on Michael Dobbs books. Ian Richardson was perfect actor! RIP.
Can anyone tell me where I can download an mp3 of the theme tune to House of Cards? I know it's composed by Jim Parker, and it's possibly called Francis Urquhart's March, but I'm not certain about that. I can't find it anywhere so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

@Jormungandur Thanks for the reply. I just realized we have something very similar in our own U.S. congress.

I love the idea of there being a paper somewhere in some filing cabinet with a list of discreet whorehouses.
