  • @jonnyhifi will be awesome. Apparently Spacey already has that sheet in his filing cabinet, so character acting etc...

  • great series. stamper has a list of reputable knocking shops.

  • How many times was this fellow elected in that constituency?

  • F U...like a BOSS!!

  • There should be a show: "Young Francis Urquhart". Or maybe: "FU: Teen Years" and "FU: Academic Years"

  • TS: "If I had a dog like that I'd shoot it" FU: "Weeeell yes quite". Brilliant.

  • I have to get this on DVD! FU is the don!

  • its a shame FU and Malcolm Tucker will never have a run in

  • ian richardson, the last of the old school of action, should have been knighted .

  • ian richardson. last of the old school of acting. should have got a knighthood.

  • @bizzbizz100 yes, I totally agree..maybe he did'nt want one..or maybe he was considered too controversial..I mean, who's getting a Knighthood for being critical of the government and the royal family;-) But nevertheless, I think he was one of the finest british actors and his contribution to the art of acting was unique.!

  • I couldn't possibly comment.

  • IR was a genius, an utter genius. Catch him in Private Schultz for another brilliant performance.

  • If I had a dog like that I'd shoot it too !

  • Best TV series ever!

  • Can someone tell what the position/responsibilities of a "chief whip" is in British politics? thanks

  • @frantic1971 The role of the Chief Whip is to ensure that members of their political party vote for legislation in Parliament in the way that the Party wants them to vote for. There are three different kinds of 'whip' - the three-line whip which means party MPs *have* to vote that way or face punishment, two-line whip means you can not vote if you get someone on the opposite side not to vote, and single-line is basically a recommendation.

  • @Jormungandur Thanks for the reply. I just realized we have something very similar in our own U.S. congress.

  • @frantic1971 Funny thing is, in the 18th century, the job of the Chief Whip and the other Whips was pretty much to go round all the local brothels and pubs and drag Members in for votes. Maybe Mr Stoat's ancestor was in there.

  • @PoloniusBent

Is it really? How interesting. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Ian Richardson was such a gifted actor!

  • 1:21 he looks like a hawk locking on to some small furry creature.

  • haha:)

  • I love the idea of there being a paper somewhere in some filing cabinet with a list of discreet whorehouses.

  • Be in no doubt there will be, these "Honourable" people need protecting from themselves !.

  • Thank you very much for posting! This is my favorite British Trilogy: "House of Cards", "Playing the King" and "Final Cut". The first two parts are based on Michael Dobbs books. Ian Richardson was perfect actor! RIP.

  • Can anyone tell me where I can download an mp3 of the theme tune to House of Cards? I know it's composed by Jim Parker, and it's possibly called Francis Urquhart's March, but I'm not certain about that. I can't find it anywhere so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • that was too fun

  • Never saw this scene!
