lol during ww1, nations got bolt rifle guns, whit 1 shot and load on 5 sec,just like kar98 and no4 and so on. weaposn they used in ww2 aswell,like the thompson was in ww1 aswell, for 2 daysXD but anyways it counts,and under ww1 it wasnt sitting in an hole,it was running, and sniper teams it was alot of,so you could run and snipe,or fly,or use tank, it's allmost like ww2,but ww1 is less tecnichal and dindt have heavy bombs. thats the different,and also the trench war,that can be cool:;D

Sometimes you have to kind of urge people on. I often try to get people to use their smoke greandes and get a sniper and an mg to help us and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You have to strike an assertive balance between being too aggressive and being too nice to get people to play the game well.

That's kind of the whole point of it though. It isn't really meant to be "fast and intense". It's supposed to be realistic which is why it's much slower. It's supposed to appeal to a completely different audience than the one DoD appeals to. I wish people would stop comparing RO and DoD.

DOD:S is good, but I think I got hooked to RO because it was 300% more realist than DOD:S.

Don't think the whole "period" thing is neccassary. It's obvious RO is more realistic than DoD and anyone who thinks otherwise has issues. Regardless, being less or more realistic does not really make a game better or worse in my opinion, it all depends on what the aim of the developers is and in DoD's case that isn't to be realistic.

I understand where you're coming from. Day of Defeat is definetly simple, but in it I find hidden intricacies like the ability to put your machine-gun on anything the right height and, as you mentioned, the iron sights on rifles (not to mention all the other little things that come attatched to each other class). But yes, Day of Defeat, although full of hidden detail, is a simple game, but one that remains different from all the other cloned First Person Shooters on the market today.

Day of Defeat has an excellent gameplay like any of valves games. However, like every Valve game, there aint realistic compared to Red Orchestra. Valve always keep their games simle like Hl, CS, DOD. Easy and simple - and no slow gameplay in any way. You can only use the ironsights on the main rifles (garand/mauser) the others are with the crosshair only.
