Well, the thing is, going off source material, that's how the prince sounded.

But also, ancient persians weren't as diversely different from other races as modern persians(Iran and near there) are. So more "whitish" looking people would be what inspired the prince to look white(that is also how he was in the game).

Finally a video game film that actually has a big budget to cover for it's scale instead of all those midlevel adaptations.

Whether it's good or not, I hope this film will be a good enough success to encourage the film industry to adapt more video games with greater confidence and provide them with a good cast, a great director, and a bigger budget to put the film to its fullest.

This is gonna be a cool movie that resembles the game great and contributes to those people that dont know what the hell prince of persia is, lol. just one problem stands out for me. that poster potrays the prince as so skiny in the arms. look at the cover of the games, they showd him with a good muscular build in the arms. it suits him better flashing more muscle with his sword skill. and why wasnt the dagger of time featured in the poster with some sand? aint that the whole point of the movie?

The movie is loosely based on the sands of time trilogy, but is supposed to be a totally different story, and Mechner even said he wanted the movie to stand on its own as a film, not a video game adaptation.

As a Pop game fan I personally feel that the trailer did the games alot of justice, of course I won't fully know wether or not the film does untill I actually see it. But most people commenting here have a point. The prince voice in the games wasn't persian, so whats all the fuss about.

Mortal Kombat was decent although the sequel was terrible.

Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie is pretty juvenile, but it's very faithful, and fun.

Also let's not forget Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.

I'm definitely excited for this movie.

And I love the point you made about the actor choices. I honestly can't think of 10 great Persian actors off of the top of my head, I actually can't think of any. That's what some people are not getting.

My only concern is about adapting Warrior Within and Two Thrones, if they plan to. I can see Disney doing the first, but the other two were rated M, so I'm concerned that some people aren't going to like the sequels either being altered or toned down.

Also I saw what else is opening against POP and it is Sex and the City 2,. why they made that lame ass show into a movie yet a sequel is beyond me, but im sure more people, guys, teenagers, kids, and women that wanna look at a more chisled Jake Gyllenhal will outdo Smut and the City on Memorial Day weekend. Plus having Jerry Bruckheimers name added to it helps as well.

Another point to add, this Box Office turnout for POP will determine if other games are made into movies. If you look at polls, # 1 every year on what game needs to be adapted into a movie is Zelda, the only reason Zelda has not been made is the creator of Zelda will not allow it to happen, which is disappointing cause other fantasy films like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Narnia have been box office hits. Zelda would do well if it is casted right and well written. POP will do well

What happened was she was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London before filming started, it turned out she was banned from leaving Iran for 6 months because the Iranian president Mohmaad Im-a-hit-job didnt like the fact she was cast in Body of Lies nor did he like her character. the Movies 300 and The Wrestler are banned in Iran because Im-A-nut-job didnt like how Persians were portrayed

Prince of Persia extends beyond the Sands of Time trilogy from last gen consoles. The series itself has been around since '89 and has had multiple incarnations, with each series having pretty much nothing to do with the last. So, like with all the other PoP games, its best to think of this movie as its own beast.

Besides, Jordan Mechner, the man who designed the very first PoP game, and also wrote the script for Sands of Time is also writing the script for this movie. So how bad could it be?

How can you say that there have been no good video game to movie adaptations? You might just be too young to remember the original Mortal Kombat, but there is also: Hitman, Silent Hill, and Advent Children. Upcoming besides Prince of Persia is Tekken, a live action King of Fighters, MechWarrior, and Cowboy Bebop. As long as Uwe Boll doesn't touch anything, it has a fair chance of being good.

I am just going to say that I my favorite game of all time was the Prince of Persia "trilogy" I played, beat, and replayed all three off the PS2 prince of persias at least 5 times. I think disney will tone the movie down though, which might NOT be a good thing, espessially for the SECOND one, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within...because there is A LOT of bloodly fights and dark dark scenes about anguish and dispair as he races to change his inevitable fate to DIE for changing time. so we will see

If you have played the resident evil games you would understand why people dont like the movies. The movies by themselves, are... ok. Fun to watch. If I was to make a movie of this, I would have made it in an actual Persian language, threw on some sub titlles, got some Persian looking actors and tons of CGI. Make it is visualy appealing as possible, lots of sword fights and dudes getting killed in booby traps.
