That was pretty bizarre...I mean honestly, all she needed was a good eyebrow grooming/wax, upper lip wax, her hair simply done and just some sensible makeup. its not really a makeover,

its more of trying to actualize yourself as an individual.

I dont think the way she did it in the movie (the character i mean) was the right way, but, many people choose to act differently, and manipulate themselves into something they are not. (I said manipulate, becuase its as if you are telling yourself what you want to hear, and begin to believe it, even though you are only harming yourself in the process)
